One thing I was suprised about... there wasn't a single mention of parlay. I was expecting them to at least put one joke about in there since it was so prevailant in the first one.

I thought it was great.

Although it should have ended a few minutes sooner. Teasing the audience that much is just mean.

I have a feeling that one of the three big characters in the film are going to die for real in the third movie.

I think Governor Swann will be killed either by Jack or Will in the next movie.

Quite a few people have said this, but I think a few times in the first movie was enough.

I'm assuming you meant "prevalent."

Not references, but things to look for:
Jack steals a ring from Tia Dalma's shack.

When Tia Dalma releases the monkey, he scampers into the next room to a pair of boots lying on a bed.

Same scene, Jack picks up a hat and looks at it with familiarity.

Same scene, the heart locket on Tia Dalma's table matches the music box Jones owns.

The guy that falls from the top of the shipwrecked ship, looks like his face was suctioned off by the Kraken.

Yeah I thought the music box thing might point to the witch woman either being the "woman" Jones couldn't have, or that she made the box for him to hold his heart in.

And yeah I never really noticed the boots or the hat part as being significant while I was watching it. But I did notice he was stealing some things while there, lol.

The bit about history of the Black Pearl -- AND a bit of history between Jack his deal with Jones and Beckett/EITC is on the official website. Go to the menu link, click on games then black pearl 101 > learn about the black pearl > then click on the bowmast at the front of the ship.
http://adisney.go.com/disneypictures/pirates/main.html

In the Verizon cell phone V-cast moble game more detail is revealed as you play it...

Jack was captian of his merchant vessel (The Wicked Wench) under the employment of the East India Trading Co. One day Beckett orders him to pickup precious "cargo" in Africa to deliver it to the West Indies/Caribbean. When Jack discovers what the "cargo" is (slaves) and he turns back around to Africa and returns them home.

For that, Beckett's men come and burn/sink his ship and brand him a pirate.

After Jack escapes from prison, he vows to go get the Wench back from the bottom of the ocean, even if he's gotta drag it out with his hands. While in the water, he nearly drowns, and Davy Jones comes along and saves him. They make their 13 year deal, and Davy Jones raises the Wicked Wench from the depths and Jack renames it The Black Pearl. That quote "what the Black Pearl really is...is freedom" takes on a new dimension!

Oh and Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End may finally put to rest the great debate of our time....Pirates or Ninjas?

Went to see it again with my fiance

I have a feeling Tia Dormi, or whatever her name is, was one of the slaves that he rescued before he became a pirate

Just wonder whats gonna happen when it comes time for Barbosa and Sparrow to crew the Pearl again

errr OK.

SPOILERS

I loved the movie. I know I'm gonna catch a lot of flak for this, but I never saw the big deal with the first one. The pacing was great, the cartoony jokes worked, and enjoyed just about everything. I liked the love triangle, although I don't know how they'll satisfactorily wrap that one up.

I can't believe people are bitching about the ending. Virtually every middle movie in a trilogy has a cliffhanger ending or at the very least some loose ends.

And Will would want to save Jack since he still thinks Jack willingly sacrificed himself.

After watching the deleted scenes from the first PoC, I noticed how Norrington's advances on Elizabeth weren't as snobbish as they were authentic, and her choice at the end not to marry him carried a lot more weight, but he was understanding about the whole thing and let her go.

I haven't seen PoC II but from what I've seen on here, it looks like Will is a bit of a pansy and she takes a lot more responsibility, along with seeming to temporarily fall for Jack. I'm hoping she falls for Jack in At World's End and in the same style Will lets her go, that would be awesome (and hot).

The kiss between Elizabeth and Jack was a kiss of betrayal. It was everything a Kiss of Death should be. While Jack enjoyed the kiss he did not initiate it. She pushed into him and he never put his arms around her even. Elizabeth has feelings for Jack and always has even lying to herself about that. She's always had a fascination with pirates (judging by the opening of the first film) so is she just infatuated with what he represents, freedom, etc.? Anyways Jack came back on his own accord. If his intention was leaving he would had already done that.

It wasn't necessary for her to chain Jack to the Pearl. Not only had she betrayed Jack she had betrayed Will by kissing Jack. I think that was a painful realization for her and the reason she was crying was that she had betrayed them both and she was not as honorable she thought she was. That's why Jack smirk and "pirate" quip hit her hard. I actually think Jack's more impressed with her now but his first love is freedom and the Pearl.

The bitterness in Will's voice seemed to have lessened at Tia Dalma's but they still sat apart. He could see how torn up she was, saying "if they was anything that could be done to bring him back..." Does Will love her that much to let her choose Jack if it made her happy? Now she can't tell Will what she did, and Will can't tell her what he saw. The relationship is wound up like a rubberband and I'm interested to she what will happen next...

Again, didn't see #2, but that sounds like prime material for her not ending up with either guy. At least, that's a possible end. Two ways to go about that would be for Will and Jack to die, or for her to die.

Any popular movie has a great deal of script and storyboard preparation before it reaches the final production stages, so it's impossible to read too far into it.

She got rid of Jack because she was afraid of what she might do to/with him. He was a serious threat to her relationship with Will, so she eliminated that threat.

I agree that was part of the reason.

Capt. Jack Sparrow is charming and witty but he's also calculating and selfish...he's a pirate, in the first movie we got fleeting glimpses of it. Paraphasing Gibbs, his honest streak gets him in trouble. By the end of Dead Man's Chest I think Elizabeth's fed up with him for screwing her and Will over so many times.

I think Tia Dalma description of the Davy Jones situation sort of parallels the situation between Elizabeth, Will, and Jack. "What vexes all men? A woman...as harsh and untameable as the sea."
