"looks like we got more quality student seating. Is this true?"

i believe there is a small gain in the amount of student seating, but not a great amount over that of the grass seating standing area. we will now have students on 3 of the 4 sides of the stadium. hopefully those students in the NEZ can help excite the LTR holders in the Redzone, and get them out of their seats often.

I agree with the ppl back on the other page about winning some damn games now.... It's great that our stadium has taken a big jump this summer by adding roughly 6,000 new seats and new outside decorations (brick statues & all that other jazz), but it really doesn't say much if we don't keep on having winning seasons and can't keep all those extra seats full.

I haven't heard much from the football program on gopack.com like the million stories they put up about the pre-season last year (this scares me).

I just surely hope that the Pack football team (esp. AB and TB, along with Stone) will bring the momentum that M&M created at the end of last season into this one b/c if we can't get any offense going in a league that ranks highest in total defense among the major conferences, then we are VERY SCREWED.

On another note, GO PACK!

I think its a concerted effort to not get our fanbase hyped up.

Less pre-existing expectations == not as much pressure on the coach.

Any new findings/photos/publications on the RED ZONE (Carter-Finley expansion) project?

Is it true that we're supposed to get 2 new screens behind the sides of the Red Zone?

i'd say the red zone will have a different LTR crowd in it, probably more of the young alumni type crowd that's not too removed from sitting in the student section. I could be wrong, but i'd say there will probably be more of these type fans in the new red zone than in other LTR areas...

thats b/c practice does not start until tomorrow....so there isn't really anything to write about

and yes, there will be two screens, placed on the concourse in the corners of the south endzone, there are heavy machines in position, and it looks like this process has started, but there has been some speculation as to whether they will be ready for the first game....we shall see, there is a lot of work being done to run the necessary wiring, etc. under the concourse from the murphy center, which is probably a huge pain in the ass.

screens should be about 20ft wide from what i have read, made by dactronics....same folks who made the big scoreboard! which looks a lot better now that the NEZ is done

I hope so too, I've got LTR there and we def raised it up last year in the temporary bleachers...

one of the screens will show stats during or in between the play, while the other will be basically show what the big jumbotron shows. both will show the instant replays though. the stats thing is cool. i remember being up in VT and they had their stats on their board. it wasn't the actual video board but just below it. i remember looking at the stats, and saying, thank god for our defense. i think i remember someone posting a pic of the scoreboard right before they had that long drive to try and set up that last field goal, and they had only something like 8 or 31 yards of offense.

^ How do you know this information?

Just curious

If you can point me to a real source regarding these screens, that would be nice.

Thanks.

i'm just glad they put that little partition thingie in there. between the students and LTR people. that way i won't have to stand up to see over the person in front of me.

it'd have been sweet if they had the cash to red-anodize the student bleachers. so the whole NEZ would be red, rather than just the upper half.

was just out there, but didn't have a camera

looks like they have all the concrete work done for that, but haven't filled in all the squares with pavers yet.

also looked like there was some football clinic for little kids in the RBC center parking lot

a poster on statefans was talking about this, apparently his sons team got kicked off their field, probably either at gibbons, or some other park in the area, so they just went to the ESA parking lot to finish practice.....a little strange

I have a felling those video boards aren't going to be done by the app. st. game. just a hunch. I am sure the underground wiring takes most of the time, and they will go up quickly once they arrive, but still doesn't seem like there has been enough progress down there, as efforts are focused at getting the other end through inspection

I got chills reading those two.... I was on the field for that game in Blacksburg 2 years ago. That's the best game I've ever been at...

Other good games/events

2) Us getting 2 punts blocked last year vs FSU, and Picking them off 3 times at the end to win...
3) Last year's Interception at GT to win the game.

^^ I think they'll be done. They can probably trench everything in a week or so, run the wire and hook it up. Trenching the concrete doesn't take as long as it may seem; also, TA Loving probably has some serious performance clauses in their contract, so they could be in shit if they don't get it done by 9/2. They'll be pushing hard the last few weeks but it oughta get done.

^yeah, i agree. should all be done, just have a bad feeling for some reason, can't explain it

also have heard they are having some soil problems when running wiring/pipes/etc. for the new scoreboards.

those will be nervewracking, b/c it will all be prep work, then one night they will just go up when daktroniks delivers them

looking sexy. i'm optimistic that w/ the new additions and murphy center as well as hopeful good seasons from rivers and williams we can get some good recruiting classes.

might be too much to hope for.

^ No top HS prospect recruit is going to care about how some former players of NCSU are doing in the NFL when he's trying to make a choice between attending NCSU or Miami or Virginia Tech

In other words, no good HS recruit is going to be saying this to himself...

"hmmm, lemme see, should I go to a school with a 5-6 record or a 11-2 record, a team that goes to the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl or the Care Care Bowl, a team that's had at least 1 first round draft pick every season since 1991, or 6 draft picks every decade. But Philip and Torry's doing well in the pros, so that means I'm going to go automatically to the pros. I must go to NCSU."

Not likely...

but highly ranked players know that they can get to the league just as easy from NC State as they can from VT, maybe easier, because our depth chart is MUCH weaker.
