i'm sorry IcedAlexV, but you're far from relatively normal. I'm not trying to be mean - you're one odd fucking cookie.

Alex was in my tech writing class. I wouldn't call him "one odd fucking cookie"

because, well, I always liked Alex. he's a nice guy.

you know, he just has a lot of ... thoughts. On a lot of ... things.

Having met Alex a few times, he's a very nice guy!

Better than a lot of you kids who think you're people.

i like alex too, i'm just saying that a complete lack of voice modulation and the weirdest stare you've ever seen a guy give when girls walk by isn't exactly normal

Now, when was the last time you saw me? 2001? 2002? It couldn't have been any later than 2003 because that's when I graduated. I'll readily admit that I was one weird ass motherfucker while in college, but I have changed a lot since my graduation. I promise you I'm a lot more normal now than I was 5 years ago. Now to address the two specific issues that you brought up with me

1)
Quote :
"a complete lack of voice modulation"

Hard as it may be to believe, I wasn't aware of what my voice sounded like to people around me back then. I am aware of it now, however, and have learned to control it. I still can get loud occasionaly and end up in embarrassing situations because of that but I no longer completely lack voice modulation

2)
Quote :
"weirdest stare you've ever seen a guy give when girls walk by "

That is also a problem I'm aware of, but that's something I can do little about. Trust me, if I had a dime for every time someone brought up my weird stare, I'd be spending my time banging chicks instead of staring at them. Anyway, that problem comes from the fact that I was born without the ability to turn my eyes in any direction. Throughout my childhood my mom took me to all kinds of doctors who performed all kinds of tests on me but none were able to determine what is causing the problem, much less how to fix it. Because I can't turn my eyes to look at something that catches my attention (like a good-looking girl that walks by) I have to turn my head and stare at it and then follow it with my eyes as it moves. So the weird stare comes not from the fact that I lack the social skills to know that it's not okay to stare but from the fact that I can only do so much to help it.

Check it out, I dropped out of NCSU after three semesters, took two years off, and now I'm back in school.

I'll be a 25 year old graduate finally after this next year. I'm going to school to be a sports journalist, with my goal ultimately to write for the N&O covering the Carolina Hurricanes.

Seriously though, the ultimate goal is to move back to Raleigh. I miss that place.

I'm in Lynchburg VA right now.

Working for the city of Charlotte now, still hoping to get a job for an NHL team doing marketing, I did get close to San Jose, but I love the East Coast!

I still post, mainly out of sheer boredom & TWW is actually good for sports/entertainment news. Really, some good has come of us.

I'm at Mississippi State this fall working on my MPPA (Public Policy & Admin) for '09. Hopefully my PhD right after that.

Sooo I'll finally be one of the "come and gone"ers

Lord, when I heard that Timswar and Beck were speaking, I had to poke my head in. Yeah, Beck, that class with Cobb...pretty much hated it. That was so long ago. How the hell are you? Tim? How the hell are you too? That was forever ago...ah, the good ol' days.

Oh, and Cobb's class was actually my favorite English class at State... even if I didn't understand a word of it...

i never bothered to meet any of you in real life (nothing personal) - and i never really even attempted to be a big presence on tww, but seeing some of these older names takes me back a few years and makes me wonder what the hell happened over the past 7 years.

i am working from home (has its ups and downs) for a real estate geared web company in S.C.

After my stint at NC State I did little or nothing for a few years until last fall when I started culinary school. I'm in school for something that I absolutely love and am working at a restaurant in Raleigh.

I never left TWW... i just stopped posting as much.
