i drafted Carson Palmer
should i try and trade him?
will he be 100% when the season starts? 8/21/2006 9:13:46 AM |
Panthro All American 7333 Posts user info edit post |
you can shop to see what you could get for him...
but regardless, he will not be "100%" any time soon. At 80%, he is better than most, but that is a chance Palmer owners will have to take this year.
I would consider handcuffing Wright, as he has looked solid this preseason so far, just incase Palmer cant go in week 1. 8/21/2006 9:58:43 AM |

I can't decide who I should start at QB... especially week 1... I have Delhomme and I have Plummer, and it looks as though they could be almost identical.... the broncos have the rams in week 1, but the Panthers have the Falcons... I cant decide who gets the nod. 8/21/2006 11:27:42 AM |

^^ I wouldn't even cuff him, I'd just make sure I had one more QB than needed (i.e., if it's a league that starts 1 QB, take Palmer + 2 more)
Of course, you can go ahead and pick up Wright if nobody else is looking good later 8/21/2006 12:08:56 PM |

i have first pick in my 8 man league... LJ, LT, or shaun? Any help? Plus it's a dynasty league(first year) so I'm leaning towards LJ or LT. Thoughts? 8/21/2006 4:40:18 PM |

i would say LT
if he's around in the 16th round you might wanna snatch up FRANK GORE
the 9ers traded Kevin Barlow to the Jets yesterday and Gore is gonna be the #1 guy...the 9ers suck sure, but he's a feature back that will probably slide very low 8/21/2006 4:56:19 PM |

sounds like this......
Quote : | "I would immediately look at RB's like Frank Gore (sole starter for the 49er's), Barlow (just traded to Jets), Greg Jones (likely starter by half way through the season for the Jags), Mike Bell (hot right now, but could still be available) etc. These guys are not household names, but are great pickups and could be the difference between a fun season, and a championship one." |

a bit after i posted my roster i decided that with najeh being third string i was better off dropping him and picking up chris brown from tennessee.
at least brown has a good shot at starting if he doesn't get hurt.
the reason i have three QBs is because in our league you get 1 point per 10 yards passing, so i want choices.
also, when i drafted i made sure that i never had more than one person at any position with a bye week the same. 8/21/2006 11:28:27 PM |

okay, this guy in my league is hard up to trade Peyton Manning. My team looks like this right now:
QB- Matt Hasselbeck WR- Chad Johnson WR- Marvin Harrison WR- Housh RB- Larry Johnson RB- Ronnie Brown TE- Heath Miller K- John Kasay DEF- Chicago
Bench QB- Drew Brees, Marc Bulger Bench RB- Warrick Dunn, Kevin Jones Bench WR- Reggie Brown, Brandon Lloyd Bench TE- Randy McMichael Bench DEF- Baltimore
I offered him this trade: My team gives up- Matt Hasselbeck, Ronnie Brown, Randy McMichael My team receives- Peyton Manning, Jason Witten
I think it looks like an even trade, I will use Warrick Dunn or Kevin Jones as my #2 RB
what do you guys think, I have a tendency to put together unfair trades a lot of times that favor me so they dont go over too well, but this one looks like it might be fair for both of us. His team has Jamal Lewis, Brian Westbrook and Thomas Jones at RB so he is in need of a quality RB 8/22/2006 9:48:21 AM |

My updated roster:
Current Roster QB: Tom Brady, Pats RB: Steven Jackson, Rams RB/WR: Ronnie Brown,Fins WR: Plaxico Burress, Giants WR: TJ Houshmandzadeh, Bengals TE: Jason Witten, Cowboys K: Adam Vinatieri, Colts Def: Steelers
Bench QB: Brett Favre, Packers QB: Philip Rivers, Chargers TE: Kellen Winslow II, Browns WR:Jerrico Cotchery, Jets WR:Keyshawn Johnson, Panthers RB: Kevin Jones, Lions RB: DeAngelo Williams, Panthers DEF/ST: Broncos
I am also trying to get a guy to bite on my Favre for Lee Evans (WR Bills) trade offer
The difference in this roster from the last I posted Traded Terrry Glenn and Domaninck Davis for Steven Jackson Traded Mike Bell for Kevin Jones Added FA Broncos DEF/ST

^^i wouldn't do it....if your league is set up like most, good RB's are the most important part of the team, and you've got a pretty good duo in LJ and Brown. It pretty much boils down to you trading Hasselbeck and brown for Manning.....Bad deal in my opinion.

if this were a 10-14 man league, I would say no. Hasselbeck and Ronnie Brown will both put up big numbers this year...and McMichael is and Witten are almost a wash, but Witten is better.
Hasselbeck and Brown will more than go over the fantasy points that Manning gets this year.
BUT...since it looks like you are in an 8 man league...I say go for it. There will likely be other players out there on the waiver wire if you need help so why not. Enjoy having the best QB and one of the best RB's in the league this year. It would also give you the QB to WR combo that i love dearly and strive to get every season.
GO FOR IT. This would all but clinch your league championship....

shockey is overrated, besides his rookie year he's just been average Gonzo is on the downturn of his career.....i'm not saying he won't have a great season but its a crap shoot in my opinion this year. and i'm not sold on cooleys QB situation.
so, yes I think McMichael will establish himself as a top 5 TE this year.
and with the ^^^^QB situation, he has 3 good QB's. He could do very well playing musical QB based on the schedule.......but you are correct in saying that the harrison/manning combo is gold.

Glenn looked great last night 8/22/2006 11:48:51 AM |
Panthro All American 7333 Posts user info edit post |
Glenn did look good.....BUT....
1) Bledsoe was throwing against one of the worst pass defenses in the NFL. The saints have been thrown all over for years now.
2) T.O. wasnt there. He will defintely take away from the looks that the Glenn gets, TO will make sure of it.
3) Bledsoe played great. He is a solid QB, at times. The issue is that he has games like this and follows them with terrible performances. His lack of consistency scares any owners of Cowboys WR's and TE's.
Quote : | "I have TO and Witten on one of my teams and Terry Glenn on the other...I should get some Dallas receiving TDs regardless of what TO does" |
These are not bad picks at all individually, but depending on what else is out there, you may want to get rid of the WR and TE combo from the same team. Thats never a good idea. I am sure people in your league would jump at the chance to pick up either Witten or TO and probably offer you a shitton in return. It never hurts to window shop with other teams.
With Glenn, I would say shop around as well, especially in the wake of Glenn's performance last night, you may be able to get more than he is worth in a possible trade. You could really use last night in your favor, BIG TIME.
The key is to remember that everything glitter is not gold, meaning not to fall in love with a player because of one good preseason showing. See what else is out there...how can you upgrade your roster?8/22/2006 1:13:47 PM |

yes, those players from the Colts are good, but only one can score at a time.
This is fantasy football, you want to maximize your chances to score points. Having good players from different teams does this.
SHOP THOSE COWBOYS AROUND, ESPECIALLY IF YOU HAVE THOSE OTHER TE'S ON YOUR ROSTER.

Drood, you are going to have to come stronger than that for Peyton Manning.
How about Chad Johnson, Ronnie Brown, and Hasselbeck for Manning, Westbrook, and T.O.
If he has T.O. on the block, he may jusmp at this one. Brown could be a great pick, and Johnson will likely be better than T.O. this year, especially if the hamstring issue keeps lingering for T.O.
you are going to have to bend a little to get the best QB in the league this year. 8/22/2006 1:42:41 PM |

I really dont want to get rid of Chad Johnson especially not for a questionable T.O., I think Warrick Dunn is going to have a good year this year so I dont mind using him as my #2 RB.
I might go for Hasselbeck, Housh and Ronnie Brown for Peyton and T.O., that'll give me the most stacked WR corp out there if I have T.O., Marvin and Chad Johnson.
I might even throw Brandon Lloyd into that trade to beef it up some. hmmm... 8/22/2006 1:48:35 PM |

ok I have my $$$ draft tonight
im lookin at going in this order for my picks, 12 man draft so im gonna go with about the top 8-9 picks just because u dont know whats left
1st- RB 2nd- WR 3rd- if any good RB left pick up, if not QB 4th-WR or whatever i didnt get in 3rd 5th- WR or back up QB 6th- TE with gates if hes still around if not Def or K 7th-TE for sure if hadnt got Gates, whatever i didnt get in 6th if i did. 8th- sleeper RB or good solid backup QB for bye week 9th pick- good solid WR backup such as Glenn, Keyshawn or someone lower on depth chart
the rest of the picks will be determined on whats left to draft
last year i went undefeated in this league and won some big $$$ thanks to my RB's and QB's lookin for the same thing this year just wanna be sure to get some good WR as I didnt have any last year really...
any thing i should change in my selection order? is this a good order u think to get what I need? 8/24/2006 2:34:02 PM |

get rid of brooks asap. he plays for a team that can't block for shit, and his preseason has been nothing short of completely afwul. i understand that preseason is preseason, but there have to be better backups available.
to be honest, i would try to package him with TO and get a different WR, because the problem with TO is that he's inconsistent, which is really what you need from fantasy. he has only had one year in the last five or so where he played 16 games. however, i also only draft players who have a good work ethic and the right attitude, so there's that. i'll take a bankable top 10 receiver over a coin flip between number 2-3 and a bust. 8/25/2006 12:22:07 AM |

I'm playing in a 16-team league that starts 3 QB's, 4 WR's and 3 RB's. I'm thinking of hoarding QB's in the middle rounds of the draft and using them as trade bait when the season starts, since there are not enough QB's to go around in a league this big. Teams without 3 starting QB's are gonna get real desperate to trade with me.
What do you think of this strategy? 8/25/2006 2:03:48 AM |
Panthro All American 7333 Posts user info edit post |
^uhhh, but you will only have 2 Wideouts, a defense and 2 Running Backs. Likely some of those will be shitty.
you will be in just as much need as they will. Dont do a defensive draft.
Draft power players and maximize each pick. you are setting yourself up for a shitty team!
