last night they were missin half the team it seemed. the positives though:
morrison was more aggressive with his shot. unfortunately he was off, big time, but i'd rather see him go 1-15 than 2-6, cause eventually his shot will fall.
okafor was also pretty impressive. he picked up a few fouls quick, but then played through it without pickin up more until much later in the game. i dont remember his stats and dont feel like lookin it up, but he was gettin boards, blocks, and put-back points. i think when he tried to expand his offensive game, it really hurt him because he's better off just rebounding and tryin to score off putbacks. with the ball in his hands, it takes away from those putbacks, which happens to be one of his greatest strengths.
again though, dont read too much into the record. when burleson is playing pg the majority of the game, you gotta assume the game will not turn out the way you want it. with so many young players though, it would be nice to get a win to build on. 10/20/2006 3:29:25 PM |

yeah Felton, Wallace, and others didnt play
Morrison had like 8 points, May 9
Okafor only got 4 fouls, May had 2 i think
so yeah I wouldnt have expected us to win with those people not playing anyway 10/20/2006 4:37:33 PM |

they won tonight 101-89 against the pacers...cant find any stats yet, but i was listenin to it and they were usin some normal lineups tonight. okafor seemed to have a decent game, may had a good game (20 points i think), morrison had 16 or 18, felton was a bit off with his shooting, and othella harrington was perfect from the field. i think he finished with 16. 10/24/2006 10:03:47 PM |

got some stats up now...felton was 3-14...he did have 7 steals though. thats pretty impressive. morrison was a little better. 5-14, but he got to the line more, which is a good sign. very below average game for gerald wallace. 3 points, 1 board, 2 assists, 1 steal in 19 minutes.

Quote : | "COLUMBIA, South Carolina, Oct. 24 (Ticker) -- The Charlotte Bobcats would love to have this sort of timely production from Sean May and Adam Morrison.
May and Morrison each scored eight points in the decisive third quarter as the Bobcats defeated the Indiana Pacers, 101-89, to win for the first time in the preseason.
May scored 20 points and Morrison added 16 for the Bobcats, who are entering their third season and are built around young collegiate stars.
A 6-9 power forward, May endured an injury-plagued rookie campaign, missing 59 games and averaging 8.2 points. The Bobcats need him to stay healthy and produce off the bench the way he did against Indiana, as he made 8-of-10 shots.
The 6-8 Morrison, the third overall pick this year, is being counted on for perimeter shooting, a weakness last season. He was shooting just 32 percent from the field before making 5-of-14 shots Tuesday.
May and Morrison helped the Bobcats turn a 43-40 halftime deficit into a 68-63 lead entering the final period, when they pulled away.
Emeka Okafor added 15 points for Charlotte (1-5), which shot 50 percent (38-of-76) and overcame 23 turnovers. Melvin Ely (illness) and Matt Carroll (left knee) did not play for the Bobcats.
Danny Granger scored 16 points and Jermaine O'Neal added 15 for the Pacers, who shot 39 percent (25-of-64) and committed a staggering 31 turnovers. " |

Its gonna be another long season.
I applaud the patience we've shown with free agents, but the drafts have been weak.
Morrison doesn't look like a good pick considering how much talent there was in the draft this year.
Okafor still hasn't shown much of anything. His offense is very subpar and he doesnt have the size to dominate defensively like he did in college.
Felton is a poor option at SG, but we're planning on trading Brevin Knight before the deadline so he can move to PG.
May can play but he's way too fucking fat. He's an injury waiting to happen.
Gerald Wallace will be up for a huge deal this offseason and i dont know if we want to commit that much $ to a guy that cant shoot or stay healthy.
Brezec will command some money and its tough to commit a lot of money to a guy who doesnt work hard enough to get his shot and is slow defensively.
Overall we just don't have a lot to build on right now. We need to land a top three pick and get one of the big names coming out next year. The draft class should be loaded at the top next year. 10/25/2006 10:29:16 AM |

Because he's playing terribly?
I realize its just preseason and he's playing on a team with virtually no offensive weapons but so far he looks awful.
10.8 ppg, 2 reb, 2 ast, 0.0 stl, 0.0 blk, 1.83 TO, 32% FG, and 68% FT, 27.5 MPG
Thats awful.

Quote : | "2005-06 season: The rookie from North Carolina played fairly well in his first pro campaign, but lasted only 26 games before knee surgery ended his season. May showed he can be a weapon scoring from the post or spotting up for short jumpers, with a usage rate well above average for a frontcourt player.
However, he has to convert a higher percentage -- 40.9 percent shooting is pretty sad for an interior player. May projected as a top-notch rebounder coming out of college and lived up to it, posting a strong rebound rate despite the knee trouble. He also has impressively quick hands for a big man, averaging 1.7 steals per 40 minutes.
Scouting report: May has soft hands and a wide body, which is usually a recipe for rebounding success and high-percentage shooting. He can establish deep post position and has a nice turnaround from the block, although he has trouble elevating over opponents for his shot. He also gets more than his share of points on putbacks from working the glass.
May officially weighs 266 pounds, but some are dubious about whether that's the correct measurement. He's in poor shape and was easily beaten downcourt, and the extra weight also affected his ability to play help defense. Because he's not a great athlete or particularly long, he needs to be somewhat mobile to play decent defense. The knee trouble adds another concern in this regard: first because the extra weight might be contributing to his knee problems and second because the knee might make him even slower now.
2006-07 outlook: May makes for a solid backup power forward, and that's exactly what he'll be behind Emeka Okafor this season. If May plays well, however, there's the possibility Charlotte will move Okafor to the middle and play May alongside him. As long as he can stay healthy and keep his weight under control, May's scoring ability should be a valuable asset on one of the league's most underpowered teams, but if he doesn't slim down, I doubt his knees will withstand the pounding. Im just saying, at unc he came back from injury lighter and here this year he is lighter (at least in the article i read)
either way he will be close to rebounding like Okafor, but Okafors blocks will be better, but May will score many more points (mostly at the free throw line) 10/25/2006 11:05:36 AM |

I'll go with 30-52
I would have said 5th in the division but now Marvin Williams is out for 6-8 weeks, so we might be better than the Hawks.
We have a lot of injury prone guys like OKafor, May, Wallace, etc so its really hard to predict our season record.... obviously a lot of it will depend on our health.
I dont think we're better than any team in the Eastern conference though really.

well the good news is they werent just firin em up. 6 of the 7 misses came from hermann, burleson, felton, and morrison. morrison was 0-1 from 3 but 8-15 from the floor, so he found his scoring elsewhere. felton has never been a great 3 point shooter. burleson isnt worth talking about. hermann is european and has to get use to the longer distance.
for anyone that didnt look at the box score, the other miss was from wallace who's been trying to expand his range. he went 9-11 from the field, but 0-1 from 3. oh well, cant hit em all. 10/27/2006 12:06:51 PM |

From watching him in the McD AA game, he was basically blocking anything that came near him, and he had a pretty good short range touch. He has all the tools to be the next shaq, more than Dwight Howard even.
From what I read though he is kind of soft spoken and doesn't have that killer attitude. So he's kind of like Tim Duncan in Shaq's body. If he wants to "dominate" he will have to get more nasty.

Not picking Brandon Roy looks pretty fucking stupid right now. That guy looks like a stud and we're stuck with Morrison. The kind of guy like Dunleavy or Sczerbiak that you end up giving a big contract to and then regretting it and trying to trade him for a pair of mismatched socks just to get yourself out of salary cap hell.

So Jalen Rose and Latrell Sprewell are out there on the market...
maybe the Bobcats could use one of them?
spro and i were talking about it, one of those guys might not put us over the top as far as playoffs are concerned, but the organization has the resposibility of putting the most competitive team on the court they can... and if they are having a hard time gaining support, they need to bring in someone
im all for "growing" up our young talent, but if there is a guy out there that wants to play, and can help our team and not cost us much money, i dont see what would be holding us back from signing them 10/30/2006 11:33:38 PM |

Sprewell is too much of risk and could cause problems.
Rose is washed up and is another small forward...we have 2 already and they both start.
We should have picked Brandon Roy or Rudy Gay.
V I saw that but they could have picked him and almost made him play here. Gay will be a NBA 2 I believe. But I really wanted Roy.

yeah Tracer i totally forgot the problem with Roy good call. I still dont know why he wouldnt be okay running with Felton, Wallace, Okafor.... Id much rather be there than playing for that awful Blazers team. I guess location had a lot to do with it but man... the blazers?
I think Morrison is really gonna struggle, I almost wish we'd went with Tyrus Thomas... I think we could go Felton, Vince Carter, Wallace, OKafor, Greg Oden.... Then use Tyrus for the 50 games Okafor misses with a strained vagina.
No way we get Spree. He's old and a malcontent. He wouldnt want to play here anymore than we'd want him to play here.
And Jalen Rose just got essentially waived by the Raptors and waived by the Knicks in a 6 month span. That should tell you something. You don't get better by picking up the worst teams in the league's castoffs. He is like a slightly better shooting Kareem Rush he does nothing for you. Probably has a career in broadcasting ahead of him though...

also, the pacers dropped james white, so that might be an interesting pick up for the bobcats if they decide to go make some moves. they could drop anderson and pick up white, who has a lot more potential. i'd rather see them get a veteran, even if for just a year, but white could end up being a long term option, whereas anderson probably would not.
