^^that made me LOL, I mean I don't really care it wouldn't be anything new in that sport.

I have never defended nor condemed Barry Bonds, that French Lab doesn't have the best reputation when it comes to drug testing. like I said I will withhold judgement until the second lab's opnion comes out. Thats the problem with the press now there is no more innocent until proven guilty its guilty until proven innocent. See Duke Lacrosse case. They just want to get web traffic, get ratings, and sell newspapers.

"a source said they took a drug test and found synthetic testosterone"

it is my understanding that the A sample was not supposed to be tested for synthetic or natural testosterone. Just the testosterone level. The B sample is tested for a level and then later tested for the type of testosterone.

Honestly, French labs seem to deviate from so many professional conduct standards that it would not surprise me if they got sloppy with their lab work (like the EPO issue)

Also, I am sure Landis was tested every other day in the tour, why did his level only rise on one day? Wouldn't it have been high the next day as well? Surely he was tested at Stage 17 when he was the leader. These are honest questions.

Does testosterone actually help a rider? I thought the goal was to have leaner muscle.

Why are they testing the second sample at exactly the same lab? This is the lab that dogged Armstrong, refuses to disclose details of testing, and continues to leak information to the scandal-hungry press. Even if Landis is conclusively proven to be a doper, this lab is doing more to harm the reputation of cycling than Landis ever did by allowing speculation to run rampant BEFORE official results are released. The least that they could do is test the B sample at a different lab.

testing procedures don't even require the second sample to be tested. don't try to throw this off on the lab when the only person who fucked up is the doper.

You're being pigheaded. I'm not trying to throw it off on the lab. If Landis is guilty, he's guilty. The lab bears significant responsibility for the manner in which information is allowed to flow. Constant press leaks leading to speculation before an official reports are made public are irresponsible and unprofessional. Cycling has enough problems already.

The lab's covering their bases so there's no political excuse.

Catlin is pretty much the man when it comes to doping testing. It very well could be this time, the lab knows they have him nailed, and don't want any excuses (as just mentioned).

Not looking good for Landis.

"^^ So if a French lab said Bonds used steroids, you'd think Bonds was innocent?"

More like if the Giants were playing the Yankees in the World Series and a Yankees lab came back with a positive drug test on Bonds after they lost. Don't bother checking up on it, trust us.

In other words I agree with this statement:
Quote :
"I will hold out judgement until an official report comes out not some source that the New York times "cites" I would say the French are trying everything they can to keep another American as being champion of their race, but who knows we don't have anything rock solid in proof at the moment.
"

On the other hand they are in France, where else would the drug tests be carried out during the event?

In other news... don't take a bottle of water from a local when participating in the Tour de France.
