The only reason I troll on here, is because pretty much every NCSU fan acts like they go to fucking FSU, Miami, or USC when it comes to football, or Duke or UNC in basketball. Almost nobody on this board can accept the fact that you go to a below average sports school who will never amount to what you want them to be. Hell I love UGA and OSU, and I will talk shit about their football all day long because they are good year in and year out.......but when it comes to basketball, I dont...I might mention OSUs final four back a few years ago, but I dont fucking obsess over the fact that my team won the NC over 20yrs ago on a miracle shot, and act like they can compete with Duke or UNC year in and year out, and force our good couch out when he cant. Same with football, Rivers gave you a good year or two, but now, its back to the bottom of the ACC. You will never win the conference, and will never be in the top 10 in a LONG LONG LONG TIME, if ever. So just deal with it and accept it, thats all I ask. I am all about cheering for your team and hoping for the best, but stop acting like you are a team that matters in basketball or football because I have news for you. I've never so much as set foot on NC State's campus. NCSU was my second choice out of HS. I went to Morehouse College in Atlanta before transferring to Univ. of New Orleans.

I say that to say, my post aren't lined with NSCU fanaticism. Never once have I intoned that I'm glad because Mario was the top overall pick - if he wasn't, the Saints would have likely gotten him at #2, which would have still been a wasted pick because of the talented DEs on their roster.

However, comparing two football players to two basketball players of a generation ago is foolish at best.

Well, I went out and got wasted too, blew a massive load in my girl and then decided to see what developed. I'm not mad at you, no need. I'll just stick to the facts. Sports writers arn't defending you, your simply regurgitating what they say. You have to come up with an idea of your own for someone else to defend it. Why do sports writers say this? Its called a band wagon. Reggie Bush is a media darling, simple as that. Writers buy into hype just like everyone else. The Texan's GM could have been fired for any number of reasons. Unless you have some proof that this was the cause, then its a moot point. I never said Mario was a badass, he's just a better pick for the Texans than Bush. As for making money and selling jersies, the best way to do that is to win games. And there's no way of knowing that the Texans will suck ass for the next 5 years. Injuries happen, trades happen, drafts happen. They have to start building a team at some point, why not now. To win they need a defense that can compete with the high octane offenses in their division. Just because fans want something, does'nt mean its best for the team. If 99% of America wanted to smoke crack, would that be the best thing for the country? And to be honest, what does marketing have to do with winning football games? Perhaps the Saints are selling out games because 1. the team is actually playing in New Orleans again and 2. because there are actually people living in New Orleans again. What wins football games is blocking and tackling. Substance not style. The rest will take care of itself. You can make all the outrageous claims about prooving people wrong that you want, but can you actually put forth a substantial argument other than "lots o fpeople agree with me so I must be right." Or "I don't care. You owned youself." If you can, I'm more than willing to listen. In the end the issue will be decided on the field as it should be. I didn't go to State, and I'm not particularly a fan, but Mario was the right pick for the Texans because games are won on the line.
