1-1

and they wanted it more and whipped our ass on goalline, one team is definitely shittier than the other when a team goes from having negative yardage in the half to driving 96 yards for a TD

and no, we do not have the right to call another team, especially a team that just beat us at home, shitty, no we do not my friend

we are one of the few without a win against an Div1A school

dont agree with that first statement...they had negative yards in the first place either because a)they suck, or b)state's d was better at the time. its not like akron stepped up and showed us how to play football. the fact is that both teams looked like shit out there, with occasional plays that were good, and i dont see why people say we didnt "deserve" to win.

people were throwing bottles as the akron team headed for the tunnel they were hit by a barrage of bottles. they came back out on the field then left again.

i hope the team/fans dont stay too upset. it wasnt an acc game and the only thing we really lost out on were hopes of a bcs at large which i dont think anybody was expecting anyway.

maybe you can conclude he's down if that picture was taken from directly on the goaline...even if they slowed it down in instant replay they might not have seen it like that...just face it, we played NOT TO LOSE instead of PLAYING TO WIN

really? almost every game we dont play to win, we play conservative in the first half trying to make sure we have atleast a chance in the 2nd half. the way we played these first 2 games will not win a game once we get to acc competition. just because we scored with 2 minutes left doesnt mean anything, it was akron's defense...like someone said earlier, you cant let them go 2 drives in a row for td's and 150+ yards in under 3 minutes...blame the entire defense, where was the line when we needed pressure? where was the qb spy watching the qb to make sure he doesnt run for 20 yards? blame goes to the players and the coaching staff for the plays called

What is really shitty about all this is that this game COULD have decided our postseason fate.

So now if we finish 6-6 and possibly should have won this game, we won't go bowling because of it.

But who am I kidding we will be lucky to win 4 games this year.

Are you still on this?

Just let it go. The dude was in, we lost the game. Maybe this means we'll actually take a step towards improving for next week, because we're pretty much fucked if we don't.

For all we know the guy getting into the end zone could be a blessing in disguise.

(I don't actually believe this is the case, but I'd rather blind optomism than this "OMG HE WASN'T IN EVEN THOUGH EVERY VIDEO REPLAY SHOWS HE WAS" bullshit)

Oh, I don't know. Maybe it has something to do with the first half.

I think we got 2 first downs in the first half, but only one was earned. The other came off a penalty. We deserved to lose. Hopefully this game will serve as motivation to get things done in future games but something tells me that we will probably go winless in the conference this year.

I'm just sad because at the beginning of this year I had unbelievably low expectations for the pack and the last two games showed me that even those expectations were far too high.

Our first first down of the game (through a non-penalty) came with 10 minutes left in the second quarter.

Anyone else starting to feel like the next upgrade to carter-finley should be CAMERAS MOUNTED INSIDE THE PYLONS.... And maybe, just maybe we should hire videographers for the goalline as well.... This beaten by inches shit is getting old! I'm not making excuses for the poor overall play of our team, but official error is really wearing on my nerves. If they can't get the call right, then they shouldn't get paid (although I'm sure the Rams Club would make sure they don't go unpaid).

Sorry for the rant guys, but I'm just a little frustrated/disappointed with the overall performance by the team/zebras on Saturday.

ya it sucks so bad because games are so important in college football. i know its very unlikely but in the event we were to win out we would look back at that call as the reason we arent in the bcs maybe even national championship and that would be devastating.

We need to worry about not beating ourselves all the time, but wouldn't it be nice to have those pylon cameras for instances just like what we witnessed on Saturday? Wonder where one can find them...Google had nothing.

i'm going to give my two cents as objectively as possible, and without having read past page 2 on this thread.

i feel like if his elbow had made contact with the ground, it would have been VERY noticable on the video (his elbow would have stuck and dragged) it would be very noticable (especially in the video) because there would be a slight or substantial halt in forward progress of his elbow, since he was diving, and not elbow crawling in. This leads me to believe the photo is inconclusive.

i think we should use that money for "how to snap the ball" practice videos instead of cameras.

Greensboro News & Record ran a story wth the picture...

http://www.news-record.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060911/NEWSREC0105/609110310

Quote :
"N.C. State disputes ruling
By Jim young
Staff Writer

RALEIGH -- Three years ago it was T.A.'s knee.

This time it's Kennedy's elbow.

Once again, N.C. State finds itself disputing a last-second goal line ruling by the officials. Once again, the Wolfpack wonders whether a loss, could have -- or should have -- been a win.

With 3.5 seconds left in Akron's 20-17 win at N.C. State on Saturday, Zips running back Dennis Kennedy swept to the left, stumbled and reached the ball across the goal line. The play was ruled a touchdown.

Wolfpack coach Chuck Amato wasn't so sure.

Amato followed the officials up a ramp under the north stands to ask why the play was not reviewed.

"I was told there was not a buzzer on it, saying it was being reviewed," Amato said.

In the college replay system, officials up in the press box area review each play on video and buzz the officials on the field if a play needs to be considered for possible reversal. The last play apparently did not merit a buzzer.

Perhaps it should have.

Although video replays showed Kennedy got the ball across the line just before his knee touched, photos have since focused on a different body part -- Kennedy's elbow. His right elbow appears to be touching the ground before he extends the ball across the goal line.

The NCAA rulebook states a player is considered down: "When any part of the runner's body, except his hand or foot, touches the ground."

Amato said he plans to discuss the play further with the ACC league office, but doesn't expect anything to come from the discussions.

"The game is over," he said.

Nor was Amato interested in getting himself into any trouble by providing his opinion about the call and the lack of a review.

"I can't really comment on this," he said. "I wish I could, but I can't." "

things he could comment on however is why he cant keep our players under control and keep them from getting a penalty that gave Akron a head start at winning the game

he can answer that

thats a quality 1st picture as well

this however (and most are going to disagree with me here possibly) that this is a much easier call, than the TA one at unc... well, should have been a much easier call for the refs to make

well the photographs are a helluva lot clearer

at least in the UNC game there was some sort of review even though we lost the game

in the akron game, if he gets into the endzone, they win...if he doesnt, we win...seems like the most important play of the game to review

and the fact that the game was close has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that they shouldve reviewed a play that close with that much impact/effect on the game
