anyone read The Ruins by Scott Smith?
I heard this book was awesome. I bought it not too long ago but haven't read it yet.
Also, for the guy who posted the Crichton book, Next... How is it? I've been wanting to pick that one up.
I still need to read his last one, I believe it is called State of Fear 1/4/2007 9:09:52 PM |

Shadowplay: The Hidden Beliefs and Coded Politics of William Shakespeare by Claire Asquith. Very interesting, I've been meaning to read this for a while and finally picked it up in paper back. I just finished The Joy Luck Club, which I can't believe I waited so long to read. I also have The Demon in the Freezer by Richard Preston lying around half read. I'll probably finish that up before classes start. 1/5/2007 1:59:15 AM |

^^^ mostly just because Eragon is Star Wars
but as for Eldest: - old master that you didn't know about in the first one (yoda/oromis) - the Empire is chasing the loved ones of the main character in hopes of using them as bait, and then turning the main character to the dark side - young apprentice seeing a vision of his friends in trouble, and leaves before his training is done - revelation as to who the main character's father is - main character thinks he's a badass, and then gets owned in a duel and loses his weapon 3/10/2007 9:31:00 AM |

digital camera manual the cover of 1984, my GF is reading it. I told her she wouldn't enjoy it. She said I'd say that. I said why did you think I'd say that? I think she thinks I criticize her too much. I think I criticize her too much too. I just want to wear the pants but I run around in my underwear all the time so when I try to say how it is, it comes off like I'm all hot air. Gotta put some pants on if you want authority: but then she complains. 3/16/2007 1:02:53 AM |

^ I thought it was a waste of time. It's very little science and a lot of speculation and outright inaccuracies. If you're interested in the ideas about culture that should have been explored, maybe try something like http://www.amazon.com/Red-Queen-Evolution-Human-Nature/dp/0140245480, which I hear is fantastic. 3/16/2007 9:04:27 AM |

It's very good. Assuming the point should've been a scientific proof is ludcrious. It's more about the progression of humans in history (based on their resources) and more importantly, where we could be headed (which he also covers more in his most recent book, Collapse).3/16/2007 11:34:54 AM |

I finally finished Mao II. I lost momentum about halfway through because it felt like nothing was going to happen...and then it didn't. Oh well. I loved the first half.
