florida has won 2 world series in the last decade? and they nearly made the playoffs this year with the lowest payroll in the mlb?

^5 most fans of the yankees and mets only like one or the other. i'm a yankees fan and i sure as hell don't pull for the mets... though i think the ws would have been better if it was them over the cards.

^^isnt that what he's suggesting they do?

and honestly, the only difference between that and what the yankees do every year was that they couldnt afford to resign them all the next year. i dont see the big deal. i mean it sucks, but thats baseball without a salary cap.

This quote to got from page two is incorrect. Its very inaccurate and a stretch to say.

i don't think it's a stretch to say that the Tigers will be prohibitive favorites going into the WS

a sweep is possible, even if i don't think it's gonna happen

Good thing Omar is on a 5 year plan, and already made it to the NLCS on yr 2. Can't wait to see the Mets over the next 3-4 years... they should be playoff regulars, and possibly a WS or 2.

Noooooo, thats what they say... but all I know is that during the late 80s, you couldnt find a Yankees fan ANYWHERE, but then during the mid 90's to about 2 years ago, you couldnt find a Mets fan anywhere, but now they are mysteriously back... hmmm

Wow, what a game. I must say I thought it was "over" after Chavez snagged that Rolen homer and then Rolen gave them a 2 base error, but wow, did Suppan ever carry us through. If not for him, Weaver, and Molina, we could have gotten swept in this series. I can't believe I am saying this, but I really hope we hang on to both of them for a while.

I grew up in St. Louis (at least for about 6 years) and one thing I learned was that everybody hates the Mets, probably even more than the Cubs (mainly because people just feel so sorry for them). But I must say that Willie Randolph is about the classiest manager in the game today. He never had a negative thing to say the entire series about the Cards or his teams performance. I really gained a lot of respect for him this series, as well as Tom Glavine. Some of the other players can go to hell with their gay-ass dancing and shit, but even that's not all that bad.

Go Cards.

I'm sure there are flip-flopping New York fans. But maybe the fans of the losing team just stay quiet. If you had found me in the 80s, you would have found a Yankees fan.

And God knows I was pumped last night when the Mets lost.

Maybe STL fans just suck, or NYM fans are just better... either way,"

Maybe because there aren't as many bandwagon Cardinals fans as there are Mets fans?

I mean there were like 4 people posting in this thread and then it makes 7 games and some of you fuckers come out of the woodworks because your "team" has a chance.

But GG Cardinals.

LOL. I was the only one in the thread that would actually back Weaver because I knew he pitched well in September and on the road for STL.

Nice job. The Mets were the best team in all of the NL all year long, but there is no doubt the Cardinals were the better team in the only 7 games that matter. Who would have thought the last 2 games would be great pitchers duels.

Do me a favor and go ahead and win the World Series for the NL for once..

I hope we can pull it out. With the exception of game 2 I guess and the 12-5 ass pounding, the series had much better pitching than I thought it would with all of the injuries to your staff and the suckitude in our bullpen.

If our pitching can continue, and we can get one or two more bats going, we're in good shape. The Tiggers are good though. Should be fun.

It's funny but I'm disappointed but not upset at all. They had one hell of a season and in the end lost to a team that pitched great. The future is so bright for the Mets that this loss is just kind of one of those things that a good team has to go through to get great...

yeah, it was wierd how last night it looked like both teams were threatening to score bigtime at a few different points in the game and both teams got out of it. That homerun that Rolen had robbed was one of the best plays I've ever seen, and Suppan getting out of that bases loaded 1 out jam was incredible in the rain...especially after rolen's brain fart.

Last night was one of the best baseball games I've ever watched. I'd be saying the same thing if we had lost(although I'd be bitching about our missed opportunities...same goes for NY though)

It was. I still can't believe Endy Chavez made that play. All the Mets needed to do was get one run that next half inning and the game was over but Suppan made all the pitches and took the momentum right back.

Wainwright is freaking nasty. That dude needs to start. That is a Zito-like curveball.

Last night's game was awesome. Chavez's catch was amazing and Molina's homerun was as clutch as it gets. Plus the drama in the bottom of the ninth made it all the better. I'm glad the Cards won, but am more glad that this postseason finally had some tense moments. The rest of the postseason series have been boring.

^^Wainright is suppossed to start next year. As long as Isringhausen is back next year. They wanted to work him in slowly.

I see this as the rotation: Carpenter, Suppan, Weaver, Wainright, Reyes/Mulder. Marquis is gone.
