while i don't think we'll get skip holtz either.. you'd have to imagine that ecu is not his dream job.

^ if he got offered a job at a bigtime football school (no, not us), i guarantee you he'd leave ecu. that's how you play the coaching game.

Cowher would be ideal, however i like Norm chow and getting reggie herring back i think that team would work very well, also if we're having trouble finding someone instead of letting coaches around the nation use us to get raises for their athletic departments I say we hire lou holtz as interim, hes a good coach he needs a better send off into retirement and we've had a coach with chronic larangitis a lisp can't be that much worse.

I'm hearing the short list is...

- Cowher (depending on whether or not he's that serious about taking the "year off")
- Paul Johnson (who I'd love)
- Norm Chow

Bunch of guys after that, but these are guys we've been in contact with for a few weeks and get the first opportunity to turn us down (that's the "basketball, pessimistic coaching search"-side of me).

He's the shit in my opinion. He's done great things in both of his previous jobs.

Norm Chow is not coming back, just let that go. And, State can't even talk to Cowher until January, and you don't want to be coachless for two months.

how do you figure this? just b/c he's in his season doesn't mean he can't be spoken to.

i doubt it, and even if so, it would literally be difficult to find a coach that is worse than amato.

Mike Shula will get fired from 'Bama...he is a great coach but the fans there think that they have the all time best football program and should be contending for a national championship every year...Shula got the program out of the gutter for NCAA violations, but I think they wanted him to rebuild quicker

i would like to see shula here...he has played good teams (tenn, fla, aub, lsu, ark)to close games with a fairly average team at best at bama, my only problem is he could never finish these games with W's...but it looks like he will be a great coach
