Too bad they don't have too much depth after that. The Nuggets are thinking about trading Boykins so it's like the only guy off the bench would be Najera. 12/20/2006 10:56:41 AM |

Random sports analyst: "Well, Steve Nash still isn't the best player in the NBA, but he is playing better than he has the last two years, and he won the MVP those two years, SO THEREFORE HE SHOULD BE THE MVP AGAIN!!!" 1/5/2007 11:40:11 PM |

^ aint that the damn truth
The problem is he's having his best season yet.
So if they mistakenly gave him the award the past two seasons, its gonna be tough not to give it to him again.
What a joke... 20-30 years from now people are gonna see that this guy won 3 consecutive MVP's and think he was a legend or something...
These idiots are putting him into Michael Jordan/Magic Johnson territory when really he's just a great offensive point guard.
How they can justify giving him these MVPs is beyond me... he's an all-star but not an elite player...

I'd put Yao over Amare if Yao is healthy enough to play
course with all the Chinese people voting Yao will easily be the leading vote getter amongst centers 1/10/2007 10:35:01 AM |
kable333 All American 5933 Posts user info edit post |
I was going to vote for Yao, but when he broke his leg, I didn't think he would be back in time to play. With that said, Yao finally deserved to start for the West.
Amare was the next best thing in the West, so I picked him.
Shaq starting for the East is a joke, btw. 1/10/2007 11:09:39 AM |

also I think Boozer deserves a spot but I'd have a tough time keeping Marion, Duncan and/or Garnett off the starting team...I say you move Booz to center instead of Amare and put in Marion at F or something...I dunno...hell you should almost put Andres Biedrens at C 1/10/2007 11:23:44 AM |

^Bad thing is you can't move Boozer to C. That makes it even more difficult to cast a ballot. I just wish you could merge the forwards and centers positions into one big section. I mean, the true center is almost extinct, and all of these players (like Jermaine O'Neal, Dwight Howard, and others) are saying they don't want to be called "centers." I say merge the two positions, and if someone wants 3 forwards, let them. However, only two guards get to start. 1/10/2007 11:49:30 AM |

The Milwaukee Bucks need backcourt scoring to counter their injury crisis. That's why the teams, according to NBA front-office sources, are combining on a trade featuring Earl Boykins that will be announced later Thursday. Now 10 games into the Allen Iverson Era, Denver has agreed to send Boykins and little-used forward Julius Hodge to the Bucks for guard Steve Blake." " |

I want to Webber end up in Orlando or LA. He's always been my favorite player, he's absolutely perfect for the triangle offense. Big man, great hands, good vision. He's an obvious upgrade over kwame brown.. He was still a 20-10-5 guy last year.
He'd be the perfect compliment to dwight howard in Orlando too. They run a princeton style offense that he's familiar with. HE can run the pick and roll with jameer nelson. 1/11/2007 9:33:05 PM |

What do you guys think about Ben Gordon? Him and Skiles don't see to see eye to eye but he is an absolutely tremendous scorer. I kind of want him to get traded but I don't think that is going to happen at this point. He's playing with a lot more intensity on D than he has in the past from what I've seen this year so I guess he is getting more run than he was at the beginning of the year...

Man, it's a shame that Steve Nash can't play in the All-Star game. I think Deron Williams will take his place. Still, I think Nash doesn't care if he wins his third straight MVP. He wants a ring. Bad thing is that he'll have to beat the Mavs and his buddy Dirk to do it. Bad news is the Suns haven't beaten the Mavs this year. 2/13/2007 10:57:44 AM |

^They haven't played since the Suns went on that crazy streak. I think its kind of good that Nash is out right now. The Suns are struggling, but their bench is getting some more time, which they'll need in the playoffs against the rest of the West.
^^Miami is looking good. Eddie Jones is still pretty solid. He gives them a lot more than Payton does. If Walker and Posey can get back to their level of last year's playoffs, I think the Heat could make an easy run through the Eastern Conference playoffs. And Wade is just sick. He could easily go down as one of the best players of all time if he doesn't have injury problems...which I find it amazing that he hasn't been hurt bad already considering how hard he goes to the basket. He just takes over at the end of the game too.
^^^Yeah...Gordon is pretty damn good. A little streaky...but when he's on...watch out.
BTW...my fantasy team is struggling right now. Redd and Boozer are both out. Lebron hasn't been playing as well lately. 2/13/2007 11:33:52 AM |

I'd like to point out that duncan is the worst thing ever to happen to the NBA. This is a general observation since I just found out about this thread but I can't watch a San Antonio game if you have a gun at my head because it is just so boring. Not to mention I'm not too big a fan of the whole international stars thing in the NATIONAL basketball association when guys like Hodge and Pittsnoggle who are good American players can't find a place in the league. Spurs are so incredibly boring and just watching them you can tell they don't care they look bored too. They suck emotion right out of the game of basketball. 2/27/2007 2:08:23 AM |

I'd like to point out that Duncan is one of the best things ever to happen to the NBA. This is an opinion since I am an avid NBA fan that has watched him grow into one of the top players in the NBA. I can watch a San Antonio game even if I have a gun at my head because I'm a fan of fundamental basketball. Not to mention, I'm a big fan of the whole international stars thing in the NBA. Guys like Hodge and Pittsnoggle who are decent American players can still find a place in the D-League or internationally where they can improve on their game, get playing time, and potentially get a spot on an NBA team down the road. The Spurs are a great team, and just watching them, they still care. They look like a team resting for the playoffs too, mainly because they are battle tested in the postseason and they know they are a tough out. They do play with emotion. It's just that they've been there before so winning is expected. Don't tell me they aren't emotional anytime they play a top team like the Mavs or the Suns.
In conclusion, whether you hate or love the Spurs, they can still get the job done. It may not look spectacular, but they are a great fundamental team that wins on a consistent basis.2/27/2007 11:07:56 AM |

I'm not sure if this stat is still true since I heard it sometime in 2005 I believe...but I heard that since Tim Duncan came into the league (~1996 I think), the Spurs had the best winning percentage of any team in any of the 4 major US pro leagues (NBA, NFL, NHL, MLB)
pretty impressive 2/27/2007 11:44:57 AM |

^^I agree with that post more. Maybe it's because I like to watch teams play basketball, and not just playground ball. (That being said, I don't like Ginobli. He flops too much and looks too much like a movie villain.)

yeah I liked Ginobili at first, but dude falls TOO much now. The referees really need to learn to swallow their fucking whistles sometimes and stop calling stupid fouls. That's fucking up the game more than anything right now:
- offensive player pump fakes, defensive player goes straight up and down without even swatting, offensive player blatantly jumps into defensive player. foul, defense. - touch fouls. anyone who watched the '06 Finals knows about this one way too well... they were even calling touch fouls when nobody was being touched. - defender steps in to paint, offensive player with ball collides with defensive player. defender's knees bend before he falls (you can tell because he looks like he's about to sit down in a chair more than he looks like he just got hit by a basketball player moving rapidly). obvious flop. charging is called.
if they could fix this shit and learn to just let em play sometimes, the league would be better... nobody wants to watch one player shoot more free throws than an entire team. 3/8/2007 12:11:03 AM |
