Haha, why are so many of you morons sending me PMs and trolling so hard in April? Do you really think I care about a few games in April when we are still in a virtual tie and have KILLED the rest of the league?

Is Kelly Johnson a good prospect or some random ballpalyer who is having a hot start like so many others??

I read that Pedro Martinez might join the team far sooner than expected. His rehab is going FAR ahead of schedule and will be throwing off the mound next week again. Early reports are that the old Pedro zip on his fastball and bite on his change are back and the only question is durability with the shoulder. That could be huge news to get our ace back.

I like this with our offense.

Glavine
Pedro
Duque
Maine
Perez

and then Pelfrey if we want a 6 man rotation for a bit to get Pedro some more days...

After watching our bullpen melt down yesterday, I'd say bring Pedro back in the bullpen a la Smoltz

With Pedro and Wagner at the end of games we'd be set with the lead thru 7

But our bullpen has been strong till this past series and we get Mota and Sanchez back at some point so it makes more sense for Pedro to start, even if he is just a 5-6 inning pitcher

One guy thats flying under the radar, probably partly because of his anonymous-ass name, is rookie pitcher Joe Smith. He's a 23 year old rookie who we took in the 3rd round last year. He throws below sidearm at about 8:30, but he throws in the low 90's up to 94. So far he's been in 10 games and hasn't given up a run. I thought he would just replace Chad Bradford from last year, but he's looking better than that already.

Also GG Beltran on NL player of the week.

I hope Heilman isn't suffering from Brad Lidge disease after giving up a huge HR... everything he is throwing is up in the zone this year... granted yesterdays runs were unearned but he hasn't looked good so far IMO..

Is Sanchez going to be back? Mota is back in 30 games but I thought Sanchez was almost guaranteed to be done for the year.

I think it's safe to say Pelfrey isn't ready for the bigs yet. Who's next? Vargas? Sosa? Humber?

V on most lists Hughes was either the #1 or #2 (behind Homer Bailey) pitching prospect and Pelfrey was #3. He just isn't ready. I wouldn't be surprised if Hughes gets knocked around a bit too at the start. Hopefully the Yankees fans don't act like Mets fans and boo a 20 year old (or 22 in Pelfrey's case) out of the stadium..

^ A lot of people loved to make those Pelfrey/Hughes comparisons in NY recently. Hughes is 20...and makes his debut tomorrow against the Blue Jays...hopefully he'll have better luck.

John Maine is so damn good and still onlyl 25. 4-0 1.35 ERA for April. Even Pujols thinks that is impressive.

Well, with a win tonight we finish the first month with the best record in baseball (tied with Boston).

We have scored the second most runs in the NL and completely without any production from Wright and Delgado. They are both obviously far too good to continue hitting like this so when they click I can't imagine the damage we'll do.

We have the best pitching staff from top to bottom in the NL as well. Joe Smith is every bit as good as Bradford, Feliciano is just as good as last year, and Wagner looks as good as ever in the pen. The only weak link right now is Pelfrey (and El Duque's health!) and he will only get better. Oh yeah, we still have a potential ace rehabbing down in Florida that should be ready to go for the stretch run. Better than any trade any team can make?

Things are looking good. The Mets dynasty is just beginning.

--------------

Expected, but El Duque is on the DL and Park starting tonight.. shoulder bursitis. Nothing major, will miss 2-3 starts.

Fan pleads guilty to shining flashlight at BravesAssociated Press

NEW YORK -- A New York Mets fan has been ejected from Shea Stadium for three years after pleading guilty on Tuesday to shining a high-powered flashlight at an Atlanta Braves pitcher and shortstop during a game there last month.

Frank Martinez, 40, of the Bronx, also must spend 15 days behind bars as part of his sentence for interfering with a professional sporting event.

"In a game in which the ball can travel upward of 110 mph, the defendant's actions were dangerous to both spectators and players," Queens District Attorney Richard Brown said in a statement.

Authorities said that on the evening of April 20, while seated behind home plate, Martinez turned the beam on Braves pitcher Tim Hudson and shortstop Edgar Renteria. The Braves were leading 7-0 at the time.

Renteria complained to umpire Paul Emmel, who called time out and alerted security. The security officers removed Martinez and found "a small, streamline flashlight" in his backpack, authorities said.

^^ Regardless atleast the Braves flaws aren't trying to influence the outcome of baseball games. Plus you are going back pretty far bringing up the Cox wife beating thing and Rocker. You've got to come up with some new stuff to harp on

Thank God. The All-Star David Wright has finally returned. Hit the ball hard 3 of 4 ABs today, hit a HR and a double last night, going to all fields, and making errors on easy throws to first.

Oh and Ollie is filthy.
