sounds like us when we bitched about herb...except....

TOB is the best coach in the history of their program

Herb was the worst coach to stay for 10 years in the history of NC State's basketball program.

Now you tell me who looks dumber.

we got a coach that was very close to playing for the acc and kept his team ranked all season long at an institution that is far inferior as far as facilities, resources and fanbase are concerned.

i don't call that a 'settle'
call me crazy.

I am not giving him a pass like lowe.

There should be enough returning talent next year to field a good team, and manage to go 6-6 to make a shit bowl. Anything less would be disapointing. Just my thoughts.

-Has won nine games for the third time in four years; eight or more games for the fifth year in a row and sixth time in seven years; and seven or more games for a school-record seventh year in a row.

-Went to a school-record seventh consecutive bowl game and won its sixth in a row (27-21 over Boise State in the 2005 MPC Computers Bowl), the longest active bowl game winning streak in the country.

and this is with mostly three star recruits, so not nearly as much talent as amato prob closer to duke

the bc fans are just totally delusional in that thery blame him for not being able to draw top talent when its their sub par atmosphere

The team became the 11th in BC history to win nine or more games in a season; three of those seasons have come under Tom O'Brien. The 2005 senior class won 35 games, the most in the modern era of BC football history. The 35 wins also ties for the best four-year mark in school history (1939-42). The Eagles have now strung together the most successful five, six and seven-year periods in school history.

I mean how much can you complain when they've only one nine or more games eleven times and three of those have been under TOB

Like how he's discipline-minded. Akron game + discipline = win.

Seriously though, this guy needs a tanning bed gift certificate.

I'm fine with this change. He came into a brand new conference and in 2 years has done pretty good with a team that was supposed to be lower-table.

well he was brought into this conference to add football depth...

that says something

but i think that Fowler wanted someone with discipline, offense, and the player grades to do well.

basically...he is never gonna be my top choice.

unless he does REALLY well

"I got a call this morning and they said it was a done deal," Rivers told the North County Times in Escondido, Calif. "

I don't know, i'm not thrilled with the choice by any means. Why bring in a coach who couldn't even beat US this year, or a coach that was at the bottom of our fan base list? This isn't going to please many people and he better show some serious potential as soon as he steps foot on campus for me to appreciate him cause i believe this decision sucks ass.

Well, the ESPN article talks about how BC has gotten shafted in the bowl games b/c they don't travel well...meaning they have been probably been playing teams with much worse records (or at least shitty schedules), so that's not ALL that impressive.

That said, though, I think we could have done a lot worse. But I don't think he'll get nearly as much leeway as CTC from the fans. If he doesn't win right away, there'll be serious bitching (even more than usual).

What's funny though is with a 6-6 record here, he goes to the same bowls he's going to with 9-3 records at BC. I mean shit we didn't even try last year and we got the Muffler Bowl.

I am a paying member of the WPC...and my family has LTRs so I see a lot of football.

I am not purely responding to your post...I am responding to the stupidy amongst this board.

Why fans want some assistant or the coach at a lesser known school over a PROVEN winner is beyond me. I guess people at NCSU are going to bash the football/basketball coach no matter what.

most of you mother fuckers are ridiculous

when was the last time we had 9 wins? how about 9 wins in 3 straight seasons?

how about some mother fucking discipline for a CHANGE

I think its funnny that most of you asswipes still held out hope for cowher

we get a PROVEN college coach with a winning track record and you people still bitch

We could get Jesus mother fucking Christ and some of you would bitch that he doesnt have recruiting experience in North Carolina.

You guys should transfer if you dont like it, I am sure there are many students who will still love NCSU football and enjoy the games and for all you cunts who own LTRs, give the mother fuckers up if you dont like it. I will be glad to take them off your hands

/rant

V have you seen BC's facilities? Probably 3rd worst in the conference. Nobody gives a fuck about college football in New England. BC is a small jesuit catholic school that is hard to bring athletes to. Get the fuck over yourself already.

We all love NCSU, if we didn't then we wouldn't even take the time out of our day to bitch about it. Tom O'Brien is a great coach and i believe we will have sufficient talent during his first year that he should seriously have to prove himself with no transition lee-way.

Have no problem with him as a coach, he is a proven winner and with UNC getting Davis, we really couldn't take a chance on someone unproven. It is obvious he came here because he is hoping our fan base and faculties can help push him to the next level ( well also the pay raise that he going to be getting, you know he going to be making at least 1.1 million next year )
The only question that I have is how good a recruiter is he going to be. There is no denying that Chuck was excellent recruiter and I'm seriously wondering how much of O'Brien previous recruiting was on him or BC. Well enough being pessimistic, O'Brien welcome to NC STATE , our fan base is definitely more passionate then BC so get ready, looking forward to cheering for your success at NC State.

^Thank you!! Plus, as much as people are hating on Fowler, I'm sure there was an army of people evaluating the options out there. They knew as much as we did who the candidates were and they obviously picked Tom for a reason. I personally like his ACC experience; he has spent several months of his life picking apart tape of teams that he still will have to play. WELCOME TO RALEIGH COACH O'BRIEN!
