The LA Times is reporting that the US Harry Potter publisher obtained a subpoena to learn the identity of a user who allegedly posted copies of Deathly Hallows on a California website.

Scholastic said in a court filing Monday that "materials hosted on Photobucket.com's system" contain materials that infringe copyrights owned by Scholastic and J.K. Rowling, author of the Harry Potter books. Photobucket.com, a News Corp. unit, is a website for sharing photos and videos on social networks such as MySpace.

The subpoena was sent to Gaia Interactive Inc. in San Jose seeking the identity of a user on gaiaonline.com, a social network, according to the filing in San Francisco federal court.

Gaia complied with the subpoena, removed the material and temporarily banned the user from the site, said Gaia spokesman Bill Danon.

Just called Walmart and spoke with manager & book department. They do not know the price they are selling the book for Friday night. And if I pre-order I have to wait for delivery, can't pick it up at store. But the price will definately be higher than the Pre-order price which is what I figured.

Guess I am back to original plan...pre-order from my Local Mall and be in line at Midnight...think they closing doors around 2/3 am and then u have to wait for normal business hours.

haha

douchebags.

oh, and BTW:

the guy that leaked all these pictures of the book left his metadata on the jpegs. That means it's only a matter of time before scholastic knows the serial number of the camera used.

I'm predicting a conviction.

White Males beware. JK Rowling is coming for your first born.

Alright, just left Barnes and Nobles with my bracelet. I am group "B." So, in the 50-100 crowd. Not too bad, considering there were hundreds of people still in line when I left.

I was told they would not start giving out bracelets until 4PM. Which B&N did you go to? The one in Cary?

The one in Greensboro. There were people lined up at 5:30am for the bracelets. I didn't get there until 8am and they started handing them out at 9am.

Anyone know which Walmarts are 24 hours? I checked the website and they are all "subject to change". I was going to do the B&N thing, but Im not really feeling like hanging around there for God knows how long, and if Im out late anyhow it wont be that much trouble to stop by one on the way home .

Just got back from Barnes and Noble in Cary on Walnut Street.

They started handing out wrist bands at 4PM. I was there at 3:30 and the line was already 1/4 around the outside of the building.. When I left, the line was all the way around the building...
Here are pictures...
WRAL was there and Ken Smith (anchor)
You can see the line i was in at the front of the building..
You can see the line on the side of the building facing walnut street as I leave...

Ken was dressed as a wizard for the Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix premiere too

Thanks, Ill probably end up hitting up Glenwood or Brier Creek...New Bern is just way out of the way, and ghetto would probably be a good word to describe it indeed, and the way some of these trashier Walmarts are, I could see the covers being ripped off half the books by time I got there.
