I found the new Rosebuds today.

My favorite album of the year so far, upon first listening. Amazing. Better than Birds Make Good Neighbors

At the risk of sounding like a naysayer, I think it's boring as hell.

If I wanted to listen to Depeche Mode, well, I'd listen to Depeche Mode.

The Snake The Cross The Crown's new album Cotton Teeth is very good.

I also like the Sea and Cakes newest.

Watch out, Coldplay has something up they need us to hear.

Quote :
""In order for us to get excited about a new album, we have to have one song that we feel like everybody has to hear ... before we die, otherwise we'll be terribly depressed," Martin said. "So luckily with this new record we're going to make, we have that one song."

"I can't tell you about it, but it's basically genius," he joked."

Air's new record is a bit slow....but it's really good. You have to be doing something (riding / work / study/ walking around with ipod) for it to really function though...so I see youre meaning....I still like it a lot.

Also not enough love in this thread for 23 by blonde redhead. The album is fucking amazing...better than misery is a butterfly (which I thought was bloody f'n brilliant). I bought tickets to go see them immediately after listening to it through.

And unlike SOME BANDS, their tix are only 16 (+ the annuals, and mo)

-i need to get that rosebuds, but i tend to trust senor spooky
-i like that Do Make Say Think, but not love

i'm rethinking this...i am relatively unaware of this band somehow so i'm digging up their catalogue

i've been uber-busy at work lately and this album has been played many times in the midst of 15 hour days at the office.

"In Mind" is one of the more moving songs on a 2007 album to me

*the new Air and RJD2 cds blow Don Luke's big nuts
*Four Winds is a little too country for my tastes. I prefer folk-rock singer/songwriter over-the-top production Bright Eyes.
*Dntel + Grizzly Bear = = HOT
*Slaraffenland has a song called "Polaroids" that is amazing but i have no clue when it was released. Help me Internet!

Best songs of 2007 so far:
Andrew Bird - "Scythian Empire"
Apostle Of Hustle - "National Anthem Of Nowhere"
Arcade Fire - "Ocean Of Noise", "Intervention"
Bear Colony - "Hospital Rooms Aren't For Lovers"
Bloc Party - "England", "We Were Lovers"
Clap Your Hands Say Yeah! - "Some Loud Thunder"
Cloud Cult - "Pretty Voice", "Dance For The Dead"
Do Make Say Think - "A With Living", "The Universe!"
Dntel - "To A Fault (with Grizzly Bear)"
Eames Era - "Wouldn't Have It (Millionaire)"
Eluvium - "Seeing You Off The Edges"
Explosions In The Sky - "The Birth And Death Of The Day", "Welcome, Ghosts"
Go Find - "Kid OK"
Low - "Violent Past", "Your Poison"
Menomena - "Wet and Rusting", "The Pelican"
Panda Bear - "Bros.", "Good Girl/Carrots"
Patrick Wolf - "The Magic Position"
Shins - "Turn On Me"

I can't say I agree. The new RJD2 is definitely disappointing, but I wouldn't say it blows. A few of the tracks remind me a lot of Kenna, which I love. And the new Air, imho, is better than Talkie Walkie; but I always expect Air's music to put me in a lethargic state, which Pocket Symphony very much does.

Meaning of Eight has a stretch of songs from track 4-8 that are as varied and amazing as any I've ever heard. ("Pretty Voice"-"Brain Getaway"-"Take Your Medicine"-"Your 8th Birthday"-"Dance For The Dead" )

"Keep The Car Running" is a good song just not at the top my list right now. I probably need to add Deerhunter - "Octet" to my list as well.
