seriously, dropping soda will help a LOT. Losing all of the sugar and junk that is in those things will help you to lose pounds. When I more or less stopped drinking soda, I lost ~ 20lbs in the course of a semester, and that was without changing anything else, and I wasn't even trying to lose weight.

Also, drink plenty of water/liquids. Doing so flushes a lot of junk from your system, but it also increases your metabolism. You'll be pissin like a racehorse, but it's worth it. Google it to see how much you should drink a day, cause I can't remember.

Those two things aren't a major change in your lifestyle at all, yet they will easily make a huge difference for you.

Have you ever heard of the "white diet?"

I too have heard that, and it is basically all but fact. In many studies about symmetry and what humans find attractive, that was a very strong factor in men selecting a woman.

are you kidding me? judging from your photos you dont need to lose any. then again i'm using the red shirt and blue jeans photo as the staple for that comment. i dont know if you have gained 15lbs since then or not.

So that wasn't so bad! It's gonna hurt but it'll be worth it. I dropped soda two weeks ago, along with fast food. I now eat lots of smaller portioned meals with natural foods in them. Water, milk, and those weird organic drink things are the only liquids I will drink right now.

And like I said this entire thread, I don't know if it's going to be 50lbs, that's a rough estimate. What I'm looking for is trim and fit. We will see what my body should look like, not what the scale says.

i haven't thoroughly read this thread, but i did see your general meal plan around page 2. i would say add more protein and take out some of the carbs/sugar in there. protein is what is going to keep you full longer. hummus was a good choice, and pb does have good protein in it.

and yeah, although i'm a fatty, i do know some about eating right, etc. just not so good at doing what i need to. but good luck with this, karen!

I'm not reading anything but the first post. If I lost 50 lbs I would really need to go see a doctor fast.

When I work out 4-5 days a week and cut my calorie intake, I drop about 2 pounds a week. This is doable, but it's hard to keep going to the gym for 6 months.

I wanna be hot.

I'm just taking it day by day. Keeping motivation will be the hardest part. Yesterday I was like "meh" but after today I'm all "Rock on!" or whatever. We shall see.

haha i would just say like for sandwiches, even though pb does have protein, turkey or another lean sandwich meat would probably be better.

but also, canned tuna could be a good choice for a small meal.

there are a lot of options out there.

So white meat? I have turkey with a slice of tomato and wheat bread for sandwiches, yummy. Tuna, err I don't know!

also, since you don't cook much, you could also look into the pre-cooked grilled chicken, etc. i think the brand i've had before is louis rich? it's in the refrigerated section, not frozen. great to make a salad and put a few strips of the grilled chicken on top.

but seriously, cooking is key. it's so easy to steam some veggies and grill up a bit of meat. you can either make some pasta or rice or not at all and have a meal pretty fast.

Yeah I'm gonna have to learn to cook. It's cool on my days off but when I work 9am to 8pm four days in a row cooking becomes not so pleasant. I don't mind making simple things I just need to know how to do them, what good seasonings to use, on chicken or whatever.

See, I'm better at house work, building things and such, I can build you a deck but I can't cook you dinner afterwords.

well with cooking, it's all up to personal taste. like garlic? use it. like oregano? use it. you can get fresh herbs and just decide what flavors you like, put em together, and make simple marinades or even just cook the meat with the herbs.

but it is tiring, esp when you work such long days.

Nothing like steamrolling through your weekly suggested sodium intake in one meal.

I'd avoid them.

^oops, i didn't know how sodium-filled they are. it's been a while since i've used them.

but that's something you could also cook on your days off. you could grill or saute up a few extra chicken breasts you can keep in the fridge for salads, etc.

Not realistic by any means. People talk and talk but do you really have any idea how hard it is to change your body size. You could work at it for months and not see any noticable results. This may be harsh but it is the truth. Unless you workout 4-5 times a week and eat really healthy (maybe even start going to GNC and buying hydroxycut or another type of weight loss product) you might have a chance. Good luck.....and dont be one of the 5 billion other new years resolution douchebags that gets in my way at the gym. Only do it if your serious. Peace

it's possible if you're dedicated and make it important. it takes a lot to change your eating habits, drinking habits, etc, but it can be done. 50lbs by July may be a stretch though.

I'm down 5.5 lbs in three weeks. I also bought an elliptical machine yesterday...

I plan on looking fucking hot on the cruise w/ the boyfriend in May... Only 16 more lbs to go.

I can do 16 lbs in 3.5 months.

Good job, I've lost three already. My workout intensified this time but we always use the elliptical to get my heartrate up. I'm starting to fall in love with that machine, so easy on my joints.

Yeah I wasn't really working out the last three weeks... My boyfriend and I were walking more.. For instance, I live in Ivy Commons and we were walking to Blockbuster and various places to be more healthy and we are eating more healthy... but now I think adding the elliptical will totally help.

I love it so far. Gives you a crazy good workout.

Congrats on 3!

what i find to be the most interesting is that its girls who really dont need to lose weight at all that are concerned with losing 10+ lbs. i.e. tartsquid, ncsugalpac, lukez, livin, etc...

I think thats why hot girls tend to stay hot.

I thank you all for that.

It's waist to hip ratio (WHR)...

Quote :
"WHR is considered to be factor in a person's attractiveness. Women with a 0.7 WHR (waist circumference being 70% of the hip circumference) are often rated as more attractive by men regardless of culture, race, religion or ethnicity.[4][5] Such diverse beauty icons as Marilyn Monroe, Twiggy, Sophia Loren, Kate Moss, Salma Hayek and even the Venus de Milo all have ratios around 0.7, even though they have significantly different weights. Congruent with an evolutionary perspective, evidence suggests that humans use subtle biological cues, such as WHR, to indicate mate potential and fertility."
