George Lucas absolutely loves ruining the franchises that made him famous.

Good thing that Spielberg was there to smack him in the head this time.

there is speculation that it sucks due to all the secrecy.

like when studios won't let critics review shitty horror movies pre-release i think.

If you watch the previews closely, in one of the clips where Indy is in a truck, one of the boxes say Roswell.

Check out the video at 1:25.

The box clearly says Roswell 1947.

Why is there any speculation as to whether or not the movie has something about aliens? There's a giant alien looking crystal skull right in the center of the movie poster.

^^god dammit

I was reading an article in a movie magazine that interviewed spielberg and lucas and lucas was a dick who kept downplaying the movie and saying that people would be sending death threats to him, but he didn't give a shit about the people.

I guess what I meant to ask is, if he knew that this was something that people would criticize harshly, why did he even bother making the film in the first place?

I think it was because he wanted to do it, and has been talking with spielburg and ford about revisiting the series one last time.

As for why he wanted to kill it, I have no clue. The plot is shaky as hell though, I can't see why anyone would think it was a good idea.

I've been thinking and it sounds like it will be just like the last Die Hard that came out, lots of fighting, explosions, and the main character having seemingly super human abilities and having no problem cheating death.

I don't see what's so bad about the plot.

I'm not saying the movie will be good, but is alien stuff really that much more(dare i say) outlandish than religious stuff with religious powers? or am I missing something(entirely possible, haven't read that much on it)?

that review that was posted up there said it lacks suspense. That there are few scenes when it feels like Indy is really in danger.

we'll see. It's less than a week away, and my ticket it is in the visor of my car.

Did you read the spoiler review?

The religious movies in the past at least had some ties to realism, like the bible and indian folklore, even if it was out of place in the everyday world.

But what the plot does with the alien stuff sounds stupid.

Wasn't there a section in the review talking about a jungle scene where the entire jungle was CGI? Sounds like the typical Lucas shoot actors in front of a green screen and fill in the rest. How hard is it to actually go to a jungle to film?

I'm watching Raiders of the Lost Ark and again I'm questioning the wisdom of hitching a ride on the top of a submarine.

Also, did no one ever notice the piles of unconscious guys without their uniforms?

Well WWII submarines ran on diesel engines primarily which requires them to be on the surface, the electric batteries they had for submerged movement wouldn't even last a few hours at a decent clip, that was mainly for stalking around slowly and evading. There is of course a chance that sub might have run into something that would necessitate submerging but that wasn't very likely given that they were not in hostile waters are were not on an attack mission or anything.
