That IDP scoring bothers me, which is why I'm glad we don't use it. Two tackles = a safety? I'm sorry, but anything that puts defensive points on the board should be worth a lot more.

jones-drew and dunn for rudi and foster could work.

jones-drew has the potential to explode, but also to get hurt imo and Dunn's best days are behind him.

rudi is the picture of consistency and in a good O, and foster is looking great.

Foster will be splitting ALOT of carries with Deangelo Williams

and I had Rudi Johnson last year and he didnt perform as well as I had hoped

why do you think Dunn's best days are behind him? He is all they have at this point without Vick...

Idk, foster looked electric in the first preseason game, and I've heard DeA has been having trouble in goal line situations......

I know all the fantasy depth charts have DeA ahead of DeS, but he's got the backing of the coaching staff, and as long as he plays anywere near the way he did saturday, he'll be the starter.

besides, you're basically trading dunn for foster, neither of which will be regular starters, I think its worth a shot.

^^yeah, I think norwood will have a big year.

Might be right, but they're also probably going to be behind in alot of games and have to abandon the run game.

Volcom...just so I have this right, I get a strong feeling that based on your team, this cannot be any more than an 8 man league, correct?

But damn, his team is an absolute Juggernaut.

Manning and those WR's and RB's...you would be basically handing him the trophy if you were to give up Jackson.

I am intrigued with the idea of MJD for Johnson, as they have been within 4 picks in the latest mocks and many people are turned off by Rudi b/c of his lack of flash and just the opposite with MJD. There are two things that I can tell you right now about MJD. 1) MJD will not be as successful as he was last year, and 2) Greg Jones will take, if nothing else, goal line carries from MJD.

Honestly, your team is pretty shaky. I love Bulger and I love S-Jax, but I never ever like a #1 RB and a QB together on the same FF team. Mix that with the fact that you have 2 #3 WR's in Coles and Moss, as well as the fact that a repeat performance of last year from Colston will be extremely tough to do, and its pretty obvious that you have your work cut out for you.

As far as Foster and Williams are concerned...yes, Williams has a ton of talent, but it's Foster who will get the start as well as the bulk of the goal line carries. The Fact that Williams is missing time with a high ankle sprain, the same ankle that hampered him at the end of last season, is starting to be cause for a concern, especially given the implementation of a new blocking scheme.

In Atlanta, Petrino loves the big back. Given that mixed with back surgery for Dunn and how well Norwood played in their first preseason game, all signs point to him being the starter and likely having a 60:40 or 70:30 split with Dunn. There arent a ton of high powered offenses in the NFC South (sans the Saints who play no defense whatsoever), so getting blown out and abandoning the run shouldnt be an issue. I honestly think, as we saw last year with Schaub, that the Falcons will be a much more well rounded offense with Harrington at the helm. IMO, at least.

If you can get Rudi and Foster for Dunn and MJD, you have just pulled off a very successful and lopsided trade.

Let me know what happens and good luck!

actually its a 10 man league

what do you mean i have 2 #3 receivers?

Moss and Coles are both listed on their Depth Chart as the #1 receiver and both are coming off of GOOD seasons last year

Coles had 91 receptions for over 1000 yards and 6 TDs
Moss had 790 yds with also 6 TDs and Moss has a new QB who has already said that they are going to pass more this year than they did last year
Colston speaks for himself and Brees will throw to him

I dont see how my team is weak by any means at all. I am totally confused by your post...

Having Bulger and S.Jackson who are on a pass-a-shitload offense that still gives him 15-20 rushes a night. I can't let go of either because thats MONEY.

Dunn, i am up in the air about and Morency as well

However, Eric Parker just became available in the league to pick up

[Edited on August 14, 2007 at 3:34 PM. Reason : would you pick him up and drop one of my other receivers?]

[Edited on August 14, 2007 at 3:46 PM. Reason : Coles is probably more of a #2 Receiver IMO]

^^^i personally dont have a big problem with the QB/WR or QB/RB combos if they are legit players

however you always have an inherent disadvantage on their bye week if you count on two players for a lot of points and you have to bench both of them

conversely (at least with QB/HB, not as much with QB/WR) if your HB goes down, you SHOULD have more passing opportunities with your QB and vice versa)

^another reason why I dont think Bulger/SJack is as bad as many other same-team-star combos is because Jackson will probably catch more balls than all but a couple running backs...double points

In theory, I whole heartedly agree...but the reality is that defenses change to and adapt to the team that they are playing.

Use Kansas City for Example. Because Trent Green and Dante Hall are gone, and Kennison and Gonzo are old as hell, does that mean a more successful year for LJ? The answer is no, because teams are going to play with 8 men in the box and not allow LJ to beat them. The same can be said with the Rams. If Bulger goes down, defenses arent going to play the pass the same way, which will negatively affect S-Jax's value. Dont get me wrong, they are both good players. They are near the top of the charts as far as having a QB/RB combo, along with Brees/Bush and McNabb/Westbrook.

ANYWAY....

wlb420...

Unfortuantely, gone are the days of the "every down" back. Even the antithesis of the RBBC in LT and Rudi, go sit out on many 3rd downs. It's now common practice in the NFL and has become one of the, if not the main challenge when drafting in FF league, only increasing the importance of a solid RB with the 1st pick. There are two types of handcuffing as far as I am concerned. for the sake of laziness, I'll call Handcuffing "HC".

Type 1)
HC because of risk of injury. This includes drafting Turner or Leonard if you have LT or S-Jax. In a typical draft of 14-15 rounds or more, this is absolutely the smartest thing to do, as you basically are HC'ing for insurance purposes on arguably your best player.

Type 2)
HC because of a potentially murky backfield or platton situation. These include scenario's such as drafting both MB III and Julius Jones or DeA and DeFoster to see which one pans out as the starter...I suggest only doing this in situations where you know they could both be successful instead of drafting two RB's like Chris Brown and Lendale White of the Titans.

Handcuffing RB's is a must, especially for your 1st/2nd rd RB. It's better to prepare for the worst instead of being screwed and have some other owner benefit in the worst case scenario of one of your starting RB's going down.

As far as QB/WR combo's....I am all for it as long as the QB's productivity doesnt rely strictly on the WR's production. Such as the difference between the Palmer/Johnson combo and the Delhomme/Smith combo. As we have seen in recent years, if Steve Smith had a bad game, Delhomme likely had a shitty game as well. There have been very few exceptions to this, but as a whole, I try to avoid situations like that. But Manning/Wayne/Harrison, Palmer/Johnson, Brees/Colston I have no problem with. On the opposite end of the spectrum, you may want to avoid a Brady/anyone combo for the simple fact that he involves so many receivers into the mix, sometimes up to ~10 players. That's when you get into the "too many eggs" issue.

In general though, if you can get a top of the line QB and his favorite target, you are doing just fine, as long as the QB can be successful without a monster output from that specific WR.

- The Guru

V You have to take go RB, RB or at least RB, WR, RB in a 12 man league. YOu went RB, WR/QB, WR/QB, and took a RB in the 4th rd. I think that's a mistake. Point production is so vital in big leagues...it seems counter intuative to not follow up with a RB, especailly given the state of LJ and his O-line right now. And whats with taking Matt Jones instead if another RB? No one was available at that point? Brown, Henry, White, Bush (OAK)?

my receivers did the bulk of my work last year (aside from LJ) and i think i was blinded by the fact that my qb situation cost me the league as well last year...drafted culpepper and warner and ended up using a different qb about every week so i took a flyer and drafted carson in the 3rd...i had julius jones last year and parcells never let him in the endzone so i am hoping barber takes the job and doesnt look back

#2 pick in the draft, 10 team league

taking steven jackson / lt, depending on what the person in front of me takes

now, if the rest all take RB's, should I get a lackluster 2nd RB, or go ahead and take a premiere WR, then grab the RB 3 picks later?

if my draft goes that well i'll crush the competition this season.
