I have a problem with my smallest rat escaping my cage. Should I shell out the $texas to make the cage escapeproof or should I just poison the little shit and tell my girlfriend it died of natural causes?

depends on what kind. look into getting leopard geckos. I hear they are the easiest to care for.
I got two marbled geckos last year for $10. then there is all the costs that go into cage, food, heat lamp, etc.
