How about the lame bs about how they are going to sing the national anthem "loud" so we don't stand out during "RED". My roommate (ECU GRAD) is very proud of this, says ECU's AD asked the fans to do this to prevent NC State fans from degrading the national anthem. (Don't know that this has already been posted for all of the non-noobs, sorry in advance).

Anyone want to go ride through Greenville before the game and play the national anthem over a PA speaker. We can yell RED and WOLPACK and piss off some eZu fans.

ECU fans (including my brother) have a huge inferiority complex over UNC and NCSU, which is why they hate them so much. However, any NCSU fan that says this isnt a rivalry game is full of shit. I wish we played them every year. Its better than playing Akron or some other bullshit team like that. After UNC, this is the game I want to win every year. Also, any ECU fan saying they dont have an advantage taking the PQ's are also full of shit.

Jamar Bryant (Georgia)
Marcus Hands (UNC)
Khalif Mitchell (UNC)
Brandon Setzer (NCSU)
Doug Palmer (NCSU)

That is a lot of talent that would not be there if ECU had to play by the same rules as everyone else...and that is just off the top of my head.

I think ECU fans are a lot more nervous about this game then they are letting on. They know if NCSU can figure out a way to hold onto the ball (for once) then this game is basically a toss up. We have played relatively well on the road. BC and FSU were not decided until the 4th. If NCSU kills itself with stupid turnovers, ECU will win easily. I think NCSU gets the ball to bounce their way this week and they come to play. Most of the time, ECU goes into these games as the underdog and they play well. Lets see how they do when they are favored.

Pack - 24
ECU - 20

^inferiority complex? dont flatter yourself kid. we dont look at you like you're clemson or something. u can have your below average ACC record & we'll take our shitty C-USA schedule....throw in some redneck jokes, some STD ones and hell.....maybe even a basketball joke. Then this saturday watch your team lose on CSTV and don't post a THING about EZU afterward because you've all got better things to do like masturbate over the thought of beating carolina for a change

^ The fact you felt the need to respond would lead one to believe that you do indeed have an inferiority complex. Otherwise, what I said is so outlandish that is doesn't need to be rebutted.

ha, you can deny it all you want but it's there. eZu is the redheaded stepchild of north carolina. No one outside of eZu cares about the plague that is Greenville. Our football team could probably lose to a high school team now, but we'll see what the ass Pirates have to say about it in a couple years. We'll be patiently awaiting to see you jump ship somewhere else. Until then, get ready for basketball season bitches.

And I love how tailsock thinks the term ïnferiority complex automatically refers to athletics. Granted, this is Sports Talk, but I notice nowhere did he even mention ECU academics. I wonder why. Could it be that when it comes to comparisons in academics ECU doesn't have a peg-leg to stand on.

And you're right tailsock, if we lose, we definitely won't be on ECU message boards talking shit. But maybe that's because we don't frequent ECU message boards in the first place. Why would I waste my time seeking out ECU fans to talk shit to, when every bit of trash talk goes over their heads? Not to mention YOU guys AREN'T OUR RIVALS. Whether we win or lose, I'll talk shit to every ECU fan on this board only because you are here. Not because you're worth it.

Take your time responding, I'm sure you're masturbating

CFN did their conference mid-season reports... ouch.

Quote :
" NC State – WR/KR Darrell Blackman
predicted wins: None
predicted losses: at East Carolina, Virginia, at Miami, North Carolina, at Wake Forest, Maryland
predicted record: 1-11"

http://cfn.scout.com/2/691344.html

not even a mention anywhere else aside from Blackman being the 10th best player in the ACC and this:

Quote :
" Coach of the Midseason – Jeff Jagodzinski, Boston College
While Coach Jags inherited a heater of a team with the veteran leadership to bridge the coaching gap, he's done a great job of making the Eagles one of the nation's most complete teams with the nation's number one run defense, and a strong offense that can do a little of everything. Tom O'Brien might have been great, but he didn't get BC in the national title hunt."

The inferiority complex doesnt stem just from athletics...more from national attention/academic reputation/ACC/athletics etc...

ECU hardly ever gets any attention outside of the 910 area code so they get jealous. They see schools like NCSU and UNC as the bullies.

must be nice to be known outside of your area as a bottom 10 team.

or always being mistaken for that other team down the road.(UNC for the slow)

but its going to be a good game. i dont see a blowout happening, though that would be nice.

""Raleigh, NC (AP) - A seven-year old boy was at the center of a Wake County courtroom drama yesterday when he challenged a court ruling over who should have custody of him. The boy has a history of being beaten by his parents and the judge initially awarded custody to his aunt, in keeping with child custody law and regulation requiring that family unity be maintained to the highest degree possible.

The boy surprised the court when he proclaimed that his aunt beat him more than his parents and he adamantly refused to live with her. When the judge then suggested that he live with his grandparents, the boy cried and said that they also beat him.

After considering the remainder of the immediate family and learning that domestic violence was apparently a way of life among them, the judge took the unprecedented step of allowing the boy to propose who should have custody of him.

After two recesses to check legal references and confer with the Child welfare officials, the judge granted temporary custody to the NCSU Football Team, whom the boy firmly believes are not capable of beating anyone.

I saw that same joke, but it was for the Mets.

My mom went to ECU, became an accountant, and makes a good amount of money.

I'm going to the game with her Saturday. She told me she's going for the Pirates.

The game's gonna be a lot of fun though.

what chokes me up about you nc state fans (some of you anyway) is not the inferiority arguement but the "not our rival" talk. ECU, regardless of how you feel about it, IS your instate football rival. ESPN says so, both athletic departments say so, N&O says so, anyone that knows shit about football in this state knows so. Anyone that denies that is either an undergrad or has absolutely no working understanding of NC State's college football history. But if that's your cup of tea, it is admissable to assume that UNC is NOT your rival either even though you claim to be. Tarheel fans have their scopes zeroed in on Duke, not NC State.

NCSU leads the series 14-10 against ECU. There's a rich football tradition there in part because the 2 teams compete well against the other.. ECU has 2 victories over UNC.......... 2...... no rivalry there

have you ever had a friend who maybe had a little bit too much to drink and happened to screw Fat Rita? Maybe It was a good idea at the time for him but its something that he'd never admit in front of his friends. Some of you remind me of THAT guy in denying this instate rivalry. Face it, were best friends. NC state fans are my favorite because you're so much fun to talk to

ha, that concussion last year must have really fucked up Evans' head. 2nd biggest rivalry my ass, hell I wouldn't even consider it 2nd biggest in the state. It just so happens that both teams are in the same state, that's it.

It is def. a rivalry. Rivalries are determined by proximity and competitiveness. They are only an hour away and the overall series is very close.

I would also say, however, that NCSU gains nothing by playing them. Its a much bigger deal if we lose to them than if we win.

^I wasn't saying that's how I felt about it. I was talking about the statements NCSU fans have been making about the ECU rivalry (or lackthereof) and remarking on how they're the exact same statements that some Carolina fans say about the rivalry b/t NCSU and UNC. There are several UNC fans I've heard say, "UNC is State's biggest rival but State isn't hardly UNC's rival," or something to that effect. Of course I've tried to argue with that statement, as it seems counterintuitive to me.

I just find it somewhat silly that we could be taking the same holier-than-thou stance as UNC fans do after we debate it so harshly.

Thanks for the snap judgement though and the name calling, both insightful and original. I'll try to spell it out more clearly next time. I forgot my audience.

we don't call ecu a main football rivalry because we don't lose sleep over it if we lose

unc doesnt call us in basketball a rivalry but they DEFINITELY lose sleep over it when they lose...

took us til junior year to beat them and still anyone i knew from unc was crying about it... even though they had won 6 straight i believe??? its MUCH more important to them than your purple football team full of rejects to us

I understand that! I agree with it. I was simply pointing out the irony of the whole debate. First and foremost, it appears I've come across as a ECU fan. WRONG! NO! I'm terribly sorry if that's how my post read. I'm a NCSU alumnus, LTR holder, and huge fan. Despite the fact that I've pretty much written this season off as a rebuilding season and I'm a big fan of TOB and will have patience with him, I personally WILL lose sleep if we lose tomorrow. I'm tired of losing, and I DO consider ECU to be a rival b/c they're in state and we've got a bit of football history b/t the two schools.

^^The only reason we don't care if we lose to ECU is because we are currently losing to everyone. If we were 6-0 at this point we'd care if we lost to them.
