the Phoenix newspaper announced that Bayless might not be in the game Wednesday night

that is huge. who cares if the UofA fans say "we lost because our star player was out"

all I know is a win would definitely put ASU in the top-25 next Monday and Herb would be 13-3 and 1st in the conference

On the flip side Arizona State isn't even sniffing the NCAA tournament bubble yet and we're right on the cusp despite playing like pure ass.

^ yep. it's pretty amazing. but something tells me Herb wouldn't have it any other way. he's used to being the underdog

Haha I guess I have been in this category.

Funny still the haters disappear more and more with each ASU win. They look like a NCAA team right now.

not to stir up any shit, but for conversation's sake:

I dunno man. Herb had some bad losses... even late in his tenure at NC State when he was playing with his team.

Freakin Tulane, Temple, Umass (Twice).

^^ Tulane was my freshman year... I think they were ranked at the time. I know they were surprisingly good. Still a winnable game.

I don't think any of the games you listed compare to losing to ECU though... UMass was a NIT/border-line NCAA team both years and Temple is always a tough team (though I only remember one Temple game and we LIT THEM UP by like 30).

^^ Wasn't it Temple where we broke the record for least points scored in a half (10) since the shot clock?

And they were really bad when we played them I think (We played them twice 2 seasons in a row, lost one)

Who was that when we scored 10? The more I think about it, it wasn't temple...

[Edited on January 10, 2008 at 10:56 AM. Reason : oops, we split with temple]

I don't think we'd be having this discussion if Lowe had recruited any shooters.

We're way too stacked down low, we have no one to shoot. You play zone against us, we're doomed.

Hopefully that will change

Gopack has a good archive for season schedules.

Tulane was #25 when we played them and we lost 73-62 in New Orleans (actually I think we opened the new arena that year for them).

We lost to UMass 69-62 in Raleigh in 2001-2002 and 68-56 in Amherst in 2002-2003.

We beat Temple 80-61 in Raeligh in 2001-2002 and then lost 76-54 in 2002-2003 (wow I don't remember that game at all). Though we did beat UNC twice that year and Duke once... go figure.

Since '99, when I started, those are the only non-BCS conference teams we have lost [until this year] to it looks like, but I might have missed one or two.

^^^ I think you're talking about St. John's... but it was more like 14 I think.. I'll check Holy shit, it was only 10... god damn. I remember I tried to order the channel it was on from TWC but didn't get it in time so couldnt watch it... THANK GOD!

Okay... St. Johns. Yah, it's an NCAA record. We shot like 9 % or something. We were like 1-18 on 3 pointers in the first half (Of course I'm just making this stuff up, but I remember it was something along those lines... I think we shot right at 10% overall that half)

Matt Doherty years, though

I think that's when they won 8-9 games

Seton Hall was an NCAA tournament team that year.

UNO and ECU won't even make the NIT.

Let Sid get his players in before we judge him. We've seen some positives from him, we've seen some negatives from him.

This argument is stupid until a few years from now.

I like how some of you come in here and try to argue basketball by comparing Seton Hall and St. John's to ECU and UNO. 2 Big East teams>Conference USA and Sun Belt.

Did I hear that correctly on the radio that it is the first time since 1995 they have been ranked in the AP poll? Wow...

I'm gonna try and get to the ASU-Cal game if it's on a weekend... too bad I don't have a I Love Herb shirt...

bryan the Cal game is this Thursday night

and yes, this is the first time since '95

only the 3rd time since ever they've started conference play 3-0

tough series coming up in the Bay area. they've only played one true road game thus far. and lost miserably to Nebraska. we'll see
