One sophmore and three freshman. Like 17 total ACC players got invited.

Time to get this one going again. Once again she lashed out at the newspaper with this:

"As long as I'm at N.C. State, you guys are never talking to me again," Stubbs said.

There is the link if you want to read it.

Last year the volleyball team equaled the ACC win total of the 8 previous years combined (3 wins). So she's got some credibilitishiness about her.

i think most of the credibility she gained w/ a few wins she subsequently lost when she played that ridiculous race-card w/ the technician.

That was ridiculous. This current no talking policy is worse. The whole series of cartoons that the Technician ran were a bad idea.

I don't care as long as the team keep getting better and winning.

^^ esp. being that the technician is one of the most diverse groups on campus.

i know when i worked there, there was a variety of people from different backgrounds working there

I honestly believe that she is untouchable as far as the university is concerned. If something was to happen to where they get sick of her stunts and decide to fire her, then expect a serious backlash because she will play the race card until she gets her way. This is a lose-lose situation that was basically created by that drawing in the technician.

Ridiculous!

i seriously think it was just poorly drawn.

look at editorial cartoons of obama every day. they could far more easily be construed as racist than that one.

as a coach of a public university, she's a public figure. she's got to have a little thicker skin.

Yeah, i didn't think it was racist at all.

I think the guy that drew them was kinda trolling, ink-and-paper style. And that it was (and is) just a bad idea for the Technician to keep him drawing cartoons. Because he's not good at it.

Did the Technician ever apologize?

I can sort of understand why she was upset. She ended up improving the program and the University's own paper responded by giving her a backhanded compliment. However, she made a mistake by playing the race card and needs to let the issue go. I know volleyball is a low profile sport, but she could benefit from reading up on media relations.

I lol'd at the five paragraphs of cracking jokes about Coach Stubbs and all and then dropping the "Coach Stubbs is gonna have to be the mature one here."

Also, yay for giving a diploma to the guy that titles his articles "I'm outie five, keep it sleazy" and wears a t-shirt in his picture. Or not knowing that the N&O covers the volleyball team. Or not realizing that gopack.com exists.

Good luck in law school, though, guy.

The N&O covers volleyball. Most times you just gotta read the 'roundup' article in the sports page.

example: http://www.newsobserver.com/sports/story/1401581.html

I wouldn't expect it to get a big article or anything considering that it's volleyball. If I wanted more coverage than the, Gopack has a ton. (side note: we just signed a Chinese girl named Jingyi Wang to teh team. She's 6'-3". ) My point is that the Technician doesn't provide anything that isn't available better and somewhere else.

the roundup does not come close to the amount of coverage the technician was providing.

i would also argue that an entirely different demographic reads gopack vs the technician.

^ do they cover it or just ask one of the technicians guys to write something up? not the same article persay but ya. and covering doesnt mean be there. you can look at stats and make a few conclusions.

That absolute, that So there you have my expectations for the next 5, 10, 15 years. I want, I need to see four national titles brought to N.C. State-attitude...

...sounds very familiar.

N&O is provided with the same generic press releases (i.e. the shit about the new player). I've never seen an N&O reporter talking to Stubbs during a postgame interview. Same with Yahoo sports, UWire and other sites.

Maybe "covers" was a bad choice of words.

I can read something about the volleyball team in the N&O, mostly just results, with an occasional paragraph about the stuff like four players being picked for the national team tryouts, or the captains for the year.

I'm glad we got all that worked out.

% of students who read the technician>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>% of students who read the N&O>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>% of students who read GoPack

When you're talking "Impressions" on a Woman's Volleyball related story, it's probably a student ratio of 100:1 Technician vs. the N&O and GoPack

^^Based on the links provided in this thread, I'm gonna disagree. The only one that was about hte volleyball team, not counting the cartoon fight, is one OldBlueChair posted.

I know this is the internet and all and it's more liable to get stuff from Gopack, but this site is mostly students and recent grads, and nobody is posting shit from technicianonline.com.
