you're never cheated out of a national title game if you have two losses and can't win your division...

for any uga fan to feel cheated out of the MNC game is laughable

the only two sides to the sugar bowl argument are "awesome, we're going to murder hawaii and their gimmicky offense" and "shit, we're going to be murdered by hawaii and their gimmicky offense"

i'd go with the former

oh really? only difference? what about them beating Tennessee and Tennessee beating the shit out of you for the 2nd year in a row?

Georgia is just pissed because they play a non-bcs school. If they win, they were supposed to, if they lose, they're the laughing stock of the SEC and probably country. lose-lose situation.

I'll laugh when LSU blows tOSU FUCKeyes out of the water; proving that for the 2nd year in a row they did not deserve to be at the NC game and how fucking ridiculous the Bowl Computer Series really is.

The BCS to sports is like the Electoral College of politics. Fucking over the fans and players; giving the powers to a few tool bags to make the decision.

Unless you are a tOSU fan or have a major stock investment in one of the media firms I do not see how anyone can support the BCS as a legitimate way of choosing the "Champion" of college football.

how about LSU playing Louisiana Tech the 3rd to last week of the season

or Florida playing Florida Atlantic the 3rd to last week of the season

or Tennessee playing Louisiana Lafayette in November

this is a stupid fucking argument, EVERYBODY SCHEDULES CUPCAKES

look at the fuckeyes' schedule top to bottom, then look at LSU, UF, and Tenn.

12/3/2007 7:59:52 PM"

Basically. When you have a schedule as tough as the SEC, you are allowed to schedule cupcakes. When you have a schedule as lame as tOSUs, if you don't attempt to schedule real teams, you're ghey. Take your blinders off.

Ok, so you use the conference schedule as an arguement against someone who was speaking strictly of the OOC schedule, nice. Everybody knows playing an SEC schedule is much tougher than playing a Big Ten schedule, and nobody was trying to say otherwise.

was a little different since UF was only one of a few one loss teams and won their conference and even the loss was close. this year it could have gone many ways.

that's why I said look at the quality of teams on ohio state's schedule and then one of the sec schools. Anyone with an ounce of brain power would see how easy ohio state's road to the national championship is.

yay the champions b.c some computer program took the derivative of the points scored multiplied by games won. This result was added to the integral of win-loss record of opponents played. Divide by 69 , add in some homosexuality.

Lastly this result is squared and plugged into the log of base equal to the pussiness of the school mascot. Bamm tOSU and LSU BCS champions!!

dunno if it really needs to be said again, but VT won the computer ranking because the computers don't know how much VT lost to LSU by, nor do they know that LSU lost twice in 3OT. the computers were crippled by the same kind of bullshit that prevents any kind of ranking scheme from being useful for anything other than a decorative piece for the newspaper sports page.

"Some people will say that it is because the other conferences "clearly" aren't good enough to deserve the championship. If that is the case, then why are they in the same league? Why are they in the same league if they aren't good enough to compete? Again, name me ONE league where teams are excluded from competing for the championship at all. Sure, the Baltimore Orioles suck, but they can still make it to the World Series. Boise State, however, will NEVER play for a national championship under the current system, and they probably would never play for one in an 8-team field either."

Why does everyone hate on this part of his argument? If they are 1-A then they should have the same chance to play for the title as any. He is right. Look at Hawaii. Undefeated and no shot at the championship even though 20 teams have 2 losses and are still in front of them. If they really are that bad send them down to 1-AA and have a 50/60 league 1-A. I think it was Woodfoot who wanted to know how long the FCS or 1-AA season is and they play 11 games just like most 1-A teams so that is a moot point. Appalachian will be 13-2 if they win it all again this year. That is exactly 1 game than any 1-A team will play.

Do you really believe that the Big Ten is unquestionably the worst conference right now? I mean it's not like they're competing for the top spot, but there was a whole lot of mediocrity all over the place this year. The Big East, Big 12 and ACC are certainly nothing special.

^^When you play in a crappy conference, you'd better not play a crappy non-conference schedule if you want respect and a shot at the national championship. Hawaii is content going undefeated against a bunch of lousy teams, and that is fine with me. But they chose to play for a perfect record instead of a schedule that would test them and warrant national championship consideration.

You mean the Big 12 that has 3 of the top 10 teams in the country? The ACC wasn't great but UVA, Va Tech, BC and Clemson were pretty good...Big East wasn't great but they nearly had a team in the championship game and teams like UConn, Cincy and South Florida were solid...meanwhile the 2nd or 3rd best team in the Big Ten lost to App State

btw you do realize that NORTHWESTERN LOST A HOME GAME TO DUKE IN FOOTBALL, dont you? that in itself should put the Big 10 in dead last...they lost a fucking home football game to DUKE

Or you know, they could man up and play a road game a la Boise State (who got creamed at UGA), instead of just playing Charleston Southern and Northern Colorado. To be fair, they scheduled the mighty Washington Huskies and UNLV in nonconference play as well.

They managed to come from one of the softer conferences, and make their nonconference schedule even worse. WTG Hawaii.

well in that case i agree about hawaii

but i, like most college football fans, DO want a playoff considering pretty much every other level of every sport has one...or maybe we should get some pollsters to select which two teams play in the superbowl or world series...or maybe just pick the final 4 of the ncaa bball tourney before it starts...do those sound like good ideas?

the only people i know who are against a playoff tend to be fans of traditional powerhouses, ie ohio state, michigan, oklahoma, southern cal, alabama, etc...they know that they already have love from the writers and coaches and will have a good preseason ranking consistently, which is a huge inherent advantage in the shitty playoff-less current system

if state was regularly in the preseason top 10 i could see myself being against a playoff too...but for fans of the other 100 teams in the country...a playoff is obviously the best thing
