Oh for sure, I'm all about trading the 13th pick either way. There are a lot of early second round OT's that would be fine once the first 3(Long, Clady, Williams) are off the board.


I still say we're most likely taking Williams at 13, though there's a slight chance Clady drops to us if KC goes DT at 5.

My mock that I've been messing with for the past 4 hours:



1. Miami Dolphins: Chris Long - DE, UVA

The safest choice in a year that sucks to pick first. They'd love to trade down obviously, but I like this pick better than Matt Ryan if they can't.


2. St. Louis Rams: Jake Long - OT, Michigan

Long isn't as athletic as Joe Thomas from last year, but he did post a staggering 37 reps at the bench press. He'll be fine starting at RT until Pace eventually moves on or retires.


3. Atlanta Falcons: Glen Dorsey - DT, LSU

The Falcons would prefer Jake Long to drop in their lap here for a safer pick, because Dorsey is anything but safe. He does have tremendous upside though, and Atlanta may be willing to gamble that reports of his injury troubles have been greatly exaggerated. Taking a franchise QB(Ryan) here is also likely, but there will be 2-3 viable candidates still availible when they pick again.


4. Oakland Raiders: Darren McFadden - RB, Arkansas

Who cares how many illegitamite kids he runs out on when he does so at a rate of 40 yards per 4.3 seconds? Certainly not the Raiders.


5. Kansas City Chiefs: Sedrick Ellis - DT, USC

This is the player Atlanta will eventually wish they had picked at #3. He will demand double teams and could be the final piece of the puzzle in the Chiefs' ever improving defense. There's more value here than with Clady, and there will be good OT's availble in the 2nd round.


6. New York Jets: Vernon Ghoulston - DE, OSU

Great value here, he's a high motor guy who will make an immediate impact. Nothing to cry about this year Jets fans, this is the best case scenario for you.


7. New England: Leodis McKelvin - CB, Troy

They'll have whatever CB they like best with this pick, looks like McKelvin at the moment.


8. Baltimore Ravens: Matt Ryan - QB, BC

Now that Billick is gone, what possible use could they have for Kyle Boller? P.S. Troy Smith is still short.


9. Cincinnatti Bengals: Keith Rivers - LB, USC

They should try to trade out of this pick, Mendenhall would be an even bigger stretch than Rivers, in a perfect world Dorsey or Ghoulston would have dropped to 9 but they're the Bungals.


10. New Orleans Saints: Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie - CB, TSU

A great combine seems to have vaulted him up the the #2 corner, he fits well at the #10 pick for one of the worst secondaries in the league.


11. Buffalo Bills: Malcolm Kelly - WR, Oklamoma

Lee Evans, while good for 2-3 spectacular games per year, needs a lot of help.


12. Denver Broncos: Ryan Clady - OT, BSU

I hate to say it but with Rivers off the board the donkeys are gonna have to ruin my day and take Clady. They have a lot of needs to address in this draft, Matt Lepsis retiring is near the top of the list.


13. Carolina Panthers: Chris Williams - OT, Vandy

A solid pick at 13 for a team who currently has no one playing RT. If we learned one thing from last year, it is the importance of keeping the QB healthy. This kid can do that.


14. Chicago Bears: Rashard Mendenhall - RB, Illinois

Cedric Benson has been a dissappointment ever since they drafted him. OT is also a pressing need but there's better value in the playmaker who may end up being the best RB in this draft.


15. Detroit Lions: Mike Jenkins - CB, USF

Corners have been a priority for the Lions this offseason but they could use another one, Jenkins is a steal at 15.


16. Arizona Cardinals: James Stewart - RB, Oregon

The new Cardinals regime made it quite clear they want to run the ball last year when they reached for Levi Jones. Unfortunately, Edgerrin James has since made it clear that his best days are behind him.


17. Minnesota Vikings: Phillip Merling - DE, Clemson

Strickly a need pick, expect them to take Harvey if for some reason Merling isn't availible.


18. Houston Texans: Aqib Talib - CB, Kansas

His stock has been dropping but he ran well at the combine. Houston desprately needs another corner to put opposite Dunta Robinson, Jacques Reeves is horrible.


19. Philidelphia Eagles: Jeff Otah - OT, Pittsburgh

They could go a lot of directions with this pick(WR/DE/S), but Andy Reid likes drafting linemen and Winston Justice isn't very good.


20. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: DeShaun Jackson - WR, California

He's similiar to Ted Ginn but at least they aren't drafting him 9th. He may end up being more like Santana Moss though, you never know.


21. Washington Redskins: Lawrence Jackson - DE, USC

Quick, name an active DE on the Redskins roster...


22. Dallas Cowboys: Limas Sweed - WR, Tennessee

With no glaring holes on their roster, Dallas will take the best player availible at WR/CB. Or maybe Jerry Jones will make them reach for Felix Jones and pretend that that's the Arkansas RB he wanted all along.


23. Pittsburgh Steelers: Branden Albert - G, UVA

Alan Faneca no longer plays for the Steelers.


24. Tennessee Titans: James Hardy - WR, Indiana

He has character issues, but may be the most physically gifted WR in this draft. Expect him to do nothing either way though, Vince Young is throwing the ball.


25. Seattle Seahawks: Kentwan Balmer - DT, UNC

The playoffs were going so well for Seattle last year until Ryan Grant snapped off 200 yards, they will try to shore up their interior with this pick.


26. Jacksonville Jaguars: Calais Campbell - DE, Miami

Del Rio loves huge defensive linemen and Campbell certainly fits the bill. He would have gone earlier if he'd managed to show up to the combine in shape.


27. San Diego Chargers: Gosder Cherilus - OT, BC

They also need a safety to put next to Weddle, but there really isn't one with 1st round caliber talent in this draft.


28. Dallas Cowboys: Antoine Cason - CB, Arizona

They need to get younger at corner despite drafting Newman just a few years ago(he was 26 at the time).


29. San Francisco 49ers: Quentin Groves - DE/OLB, Auburn

Paired with Manny Lawson on the outside and Patrick Willis in the middle, the 49ers will have a great young LB core moving forward.


30. Green Bay Packers: Brandon Flowers - CB, VT

GB's corners are ancient. Justin King would also be an acceptable choice.


31. New York Giants: Dan Connor - LB, PSU

Looks like Strahan will retire and Kiwanuka will move back to DE. Oh, and they lost all their other LBs to free agency.

I just don't understand why McFadden is labeled a savior. He's good -- damn good -- but I don't think he's consensus best-player-in-the-draft good.

He runs fast, but not insanely fast. He runs hard, but he's not very big. He had a good year, but underachieved for much of it. Plus he's got some serious off-the-field baggage.

I just don't see what the fuss is about.

I think some people expect McFadden to be the next AP, but I'm not sure if that's gonna workout. McFadden is also very versatile, I mean just watch the Wildcat offense and see how good he was in it. He can throw, run, and catch, he's an all-around back but for some reason I'm not as convinced he'll be great as I was for AP.

^^^You don't have to run a Wildhog/Wildcat offense to pass the ball. Look at LT, he has several passing TD's, it just adds a lot of options for trick/gadget plays if your RB can throw the ball well. And there are more offenses that get the ball to the RB in the air, I mean SD and STL definitely utilize the RB out of the backfield.

I know I'm in the minority, but I don't see it in Matt Ryan & don't think he's worth a top 10 pick

I, personally, wouldn't take a qb w/ a top 10 pick this year, and would instead opt for one early in round 2, hoping for either flacco or woodson (but then again I have no scouting or gm experience )

^^ I think the Jets will go CB before they go QB in round 1, it's also possible McFadden will drop to them.

As for Ryan, I think his fate depends a lot on Dorsey. If Dorsey continues to drop(as far at #9 imo), ATL will probably draft Ryan or Ellis(who is better suited for NT anyways) at #3. There's also the possibility that STL will not take Long at #2 and he'll fall to ATL, Barron kinda sucks and Pace is nearing the end but they have needs other than OT.


There are good QBs, OTs, CBs, and even DTs that project well in the early 2nd round. Teams in the top 10 will definately take that into consideration.

It's not a strong year.


Ryan and Brohm are the 1st tier ones, I personally think Brohm will stay on the board until early in the 2nd round but it depends on what ATL does with the 3rd pick. Neither of those guys is a clear cut top 5 pick franchise QB imo.


Henne, Flacco, and Woodson are the 2nd tier ones, and they'll prolly come off the board somewhere between late in the 2nd round and the middle of the third round. Those guys all have significant question marks to justify them lasting that long.



After that, Josh Johnson is an interesting prospect but the other guys taken will probably be backups for most of their careers.

This year hurt Brohm. I think he's definitely a steal if he falls past 15. I always thought he seemed like a Carson Palmer type passer. Pure passing, smart QB. I think he's going to be a good, if not great player in the league

San Diego just signed Clinton Hart to a 5 year deal, and has said that Paul Oliver is practicing at safety. If they draft anybody in the secondary, it'll likely be a cornerback.

Dunlap would is from Hollywood, FL, so this could be a good fit for him.

^ I don't think he has the speed or moves to be a return threat.

Given his size and leaping ability, I see him as an adequate possession receiver, but probably not much more than that.

I think Dunlap has potential, he has aggravated me the past couple of seasons with drops, but his skills never were really put on display because of our terrible O. So I'm not really sure what to expect of him at the next level if he makes it.
