well i don't like being sad and it is expensive to pay for medical bills so i guess i won't have children or be close to any of my family members because it is not worth it.[quote]

This is what is wrong with animal lovers. you are comparing a dog to a child / a person? Serious - is that what you were doing? Are you fucking kidding me?

No - I would not have a child it is was never going to develop. Nor would I have a child if I knew it was only going to live 15 years max. I doubt 80% of you would choose a child with these limitations. yet you animal lovers purchase (just like a lamp at the Target store) a pet, then are all shocked and sad when the thing gets sick and dies at the exact time it is suppose too! Then you have these morons that spend money they don’t have - just to get another few months of ass smelling and ball tossing.

Don’t get it - and anyone who spends more money then the have for what is essentially a hobby - needs to grow up. This is ten times worse when it is a man doing the boo hoo, you can kind of understand the woman folk -but a man? Are you kidding me.

^^ Dude, what the fuck do you care?

We get it. You don't agree with looking at a pet as a family member.

Shut the fuck up already.

YAY!! I'm SO glad to hear that he's home, and presumably doing better. I hope he poops today and will eat some more. Although, all the medicine may have him stopped up for a while, so I hope he at least eats some more.

Some people are able to open their hearts to love and care for something no matter HOW long it's supposed to live. Just because you are incapable of this, doesn't mean that you have the right to scorn others for doing so. There's having an opinion, and there's being a douche. You are the former.

and WHAT is with your man issues? Did daddy put a bullet into one of his hunting dogs that happened to be your pet? is that what happened?

ahahahaha, gg

Seriously, I know blah had, or knew a dog that needed some work a while back and asked for donations. I think they got a few and they talked about a party for the donors, but I don't know if it ever happened.

Either way, get some folks together, throw a party, and charge a little money to help pay off Peyton's bills. You might not make much, but its a good time and maybe you could raise something.

I find it suspicious that your dog got bloat while boarding at the vet...generally bloat can be prevented by feeding at more appropriate times and such, keeping a tall dog's food elevated, etc. It would make me suspicious as to if they were feeding him properly back in the kennel.

I bet that throwing a party or having a 'Peyton Petting Booth' would raise you some money. Although, you seem to be fine with paying for all the bills yourself and money has clearly not been an issue with this whole thing. I understand, but, tww has came to help in the pinch when an animal is in question.

I finally got him taking his pills. One of them is for his stomach and disolves in water, so they gave me a little syringe to squirt it into his mouth. I ended up buying him a muzzle and grinding all of his pills so that I can just squirt it in his mouth and then hold it shut until he swallows. He's thrown up a few times, but none of the food has come up. I'm a bit worried because he hasn't eaten since the one meal yesterday.

He's acting a bit weird. He's been laying on the living room floor all day, hardly moving. I stepped out for 2 minutes and came back and had no idea where he was. After a minute or two of panic I realized that he had gotten up and climbed into a chair in the kitchen.

Well obviously if my dog hadn't needed surgery all of that money would have gone directly to cancer research.

He's pretty pissed at me right now for making him take the medicine. After we gave it to him (it took 3 of us to hold him down) I laid down on the floor right next to him and he refused to look at me. I would say his name and he would turn and look around and act like he didn't see me. What a jerk.

*To be fair, I am shaving my head next Saturday to raise money for childrens cancer research. I do it every March and generally manage to raise at least $2000. http://www.stbaldricks.org

i can only get my dog to take her pill (acid reflux meds... crazy fucking high-strung dog) packed tightly in a bit of cheese. she doesn't fall for bread balls. i also have to act all excited like she's getting something special.

hopefully peyton will perk up in the next couple days. my girl wishes him a speedy recovery.

The difference is... People can be assholes... People can hate each other... People Can be douche bags... I mean you for instance are trying to make someone feel bad for caring about a pet that may be dieing WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU ASSHOLE?

With a dog all you have to do is prove you mean it and or its owners no harm and they'll be as nice as can be.

Just because you've never owned a dog or had one as an INDOOR pet doesn't mean its wrong to care about something that isn't human... Hell it takes a lot more for me to trust a human than it does for me to trust a dog.

P.S. My dog has health insurance

For as much as you've cared for and loved that dog, he can't and won't be mad at you for long. I would always feel bad when I had to force our dog to do something he didn't want to do. His evil eye would make me feel so guilty. He was a damn pro at that, and he knew it too because it often meant an extra treat for him to forgive me

I'm sorry to hear he's not recovering as fast as you had hoped. When he's hungry enough I'm sure he'll start eating again. Has he had a BM since he's been home? Maybe he's backed up. Do they make dog laxatives or suppositories?

Hey there! Just kinda signing back in... I haven't been around all weekend... But I am glad he made it throught the weekend :-)

As far as him not eating... Does he have to be on a special diet now? If not you may want to get him something a littel tasteful? I dunno what you're already feeding him...

But I am happy he's doing ok :-)

the "urban legend" is about a woman putting it on her coochie and somebody walking in on her letting the dog lick it off.

Actually I think it was some kind of surprise birthday... dumb story.

Maybe mythbusters will work on this

He'd been doing better but had a high fever. We sent him back overnight and today the vet called to tell us that they ran an ultrasound and found some sort of growth in his chest. They couldn't figure out what it is so I just gave them the green light to do a second surgery.

^^ its true, but if there is nothing else anyone here can do, might as well pray, wish him well, hope he makes it through, send him best wishes, let him be "in your thoughts", say good luck, etc.

Just got off the phone with the vet. The spot in his chest was a fatty abcess in the bottom of his stomach. We're with a more competent surgeon now who feels more confident in operating on the damaged spot. They're going to call me post surgery with another update.

Basically we're back to where we were this time last week. Except now I can't afford to take a vacation this year.

Yeah. The big if was whether or not his stomach would fix itself. They said that it was good that we went ahead with surgery today or else we would have had no idea how bad it looked.

In regards to the fatty abcess, according to the doc people and dogs both have a fatty growth off of the stomach that serves as insulation between the ribs and the liver. Peyton's had an abcess in it due to the detiorating stomach wall. They removed the fat and 25% of his stomach wall. He's at the vet and sedated right now. I'll probably let him stay there for 2 nights before I bring him home.

In regards to this thread, you guys completely rock. These days I know maybe one or two TWWers in real life, but the support in this thread really means a hell of a lot to me. I'm debating having a "Pray for my dog" thread party at my house once he recovers. Cheap beer all around!
