and if you look at the history since then, they always paid homage to the emperor's of China. It wasn't until the Western powers started meddling in the affairs of China that Tibet became a splinter region. After all, just look at the words of the Dalai Lama.

I also find it rich, that a lot of Tibetan exile groups claim China has no claim to Tibet based upon historical ties and that because Tibet was de facto free from 1911 until the liberation it should be its own free country. But nevermind that part of this land they want to claim hasn't been in the control of the lamas for at least 400 years. But they have an historical "sphere of influence" there. Or the three other parts of Greater Tibet that are not in China, which the Tibetan government in Exile does not lay claim to.

Yeah, it's really an independent country.

the fact that the Dalai Lama doesnt advocate for independence from China is irrelevant, and does nothing to disprove the basic historical fact that you seem to have an emotional aversion to admitting: Tibet was an independent nation before the Chinese army liberated it in 1950.

In 1950, the UN abandoned Tibet in the face of China's imperialism because no one in the West wanted another to go to war for some international incident they really didnt give a damn about. Tibet, rightly or wrongly, signed the treaty that China presented them. They felt that they had no other choice.

it is very wise for H.H. to recognize the reality of the situation. there is absolutely NO WAY Tibet will ever become independent from China in anyone's lifetime. It's not going to happen, no how, no way.

what the Tibetans want is a degree of autonomy in their government, and the ability to maintain their religion and culture as they see fit, while remaining Chinese citizens.

you China propagandists I dont understand your incapacity for historical facts. posting all the links to what the Dalai Lama says about what he wants for the future, doesnt change the facts of history.

On the contrary, if you were to read the link from Case Western Reserve Univeristy, you would find much information that argues the exact opposite of your trollish notions. The Human Rights situation in Tibet, 2008 compared to 1951, is light-years ahead. The does not mean that China does not have area of vast improvement, but compared to the time when the Lamas controlled Tibet, the Tibetan people much better off.

Most of the Asian countries paid homage to China for hundreds of years, however, you don't see China making plans for Vietnam, Korea, or Japan....yet?
