there are a lot of us in the same boat so I would not panic yet.
I think mine is being delayed some by the fact I filed kinda late (3/31). you may be in the same boat. you are supposed to give it 6 weeks from your filing date. 5/8/2008 10:04:46 AM |

so if you filed direct deposit with your employer at the time, then would it goto direct deposit?
and when are they basing the tax deal? within the past year? or like 3 years? 5/8/2008 10:07:44 AM |
DaBird All American 7551 Posts user info edit post |
just this past year.
your direct deposit for tax money has nothingn to do with your employer. there is a space on the tax return to fill out. 5/8/2008 10:09:55 AM |

it's actually an early stimulus for your 2008 return. If you make more this year than you did last year, you will get more $ from the stimulus once you file your 2008 return. If you make less, you get to keep the difference. 5/8/2008 10:13:47 AM |

Quote : | "Your stimulus payment is a one-time tax cut - an advance on a credit you'll receive on your 2008 return. You will not owe tax on your payment when you file your 2008 tax return, and it will not increase the amount you owe or reduce your 2008 refund.
The stimulus payment is based on your 2007 income initially. If it turns out that your 2008 income and number of children would have qualified you for a larger rebate than the one you received, you'll be sent the difference. If it turns out your 2008 income was lower than in 2007 and you should have gotten a lower rebate, you get to keep the difference.
"If you were supposed to receive a larger payment than you did, you will get the extra money," said Treasury spokesman Andrew DeSouza. "If you received more than what you should have gotten, you will not be penalized."

Only fucked up thing is I didn't get enough. They gave me the $1200 for myself and the misses, but I got fucked on my extra $600 for the boys. Dunno why, but I am going to try and find out. I pay enough fucking taxes already and if other people are getting the child credit, I see no reason why I would not be eligible for it either." |

Quote : | "Many, but not all, taxpayers qualify for the maximum basic payment of $600 for singles or $1,200 for married couples. Many parents are also receiving an additional $300 for each qualifying child, born after Dec. 31, 1990.
Your payment may be less than the maximum for one or more of the following reasons:
* You are single and your net income tax liability is less than $600. If you file Form 1040 net income tax liability is the amount shown on Line 57, plus the amount on Line 52. * You are married and your net income tax liability is less than $1,200. * You are single and your adjusted gross income (AGI) is more than $75,000. On Form 1040, AGI is the amount on Line 37. * You are married filing a joint return and your AGI is more than $150,000. * You owe back taxes. * You have non-tax federal debts such as unpaid student loans or child-support obligations.
Around the same time you receive your payment, you will receive a notice from the IRS explaining how your payment was figured. It is important to keep this notice as a record of your economic stimulus payment. In addition, you’ll get a separate notice if you owe back taxes or non-tax debts." |

just got my $600 back from Uncle.
just got $400 back from baby's mama.
turned right around and bought a $589 airline ticked from Seattle to Pensacola.
and both of my vehicles will need tires in the pretty foreseeable future, so that's, ohhh, $1600 or so I'm looking at. I want a compact pistol (another SIG), too. I plan on buying a portable hard drive to back up my laptop. I plan on going down to Seattle to rage this weekend. Plan on going back up to Whistler-Blackcomb to ski in the next month or so. then it'll be getting warm enough to SCUBA dive in Victoria, BC (with a heavy wetsuit).
haha, I could think of a lot more stuff...$600 will be completely burnt by yesterday. 5/8/2008 9:15:42 PM |
