Bertuzzi to the Flames...I think well worth the risk for 1.95 mil. cheaper than Nolan with more upside...fits in with the mentality Sutter is trying to build

Ray Emery:

"has agreed to a one-year deal which could pay him in excess of $2 million plus bonuses next season with Atlant Mytishchi of the newly-formed Continental Hockey League in Russia, Sun Media has learned.

While the 25-year-old hoped to play in the NHL next season, his agent J.P. Barry got just three calls."

The more I see $4 million deals for guys like Commodore and Fedorov, the more I think we got Gleason, Ruutu, and Pitkanen for a fucking steal.

The fun in Tampa is only just beginning

GM Jay Feaster quits

Quote :
""For the past two weeks I have watched from the sidelines as (vice-president of operations) Brian Lawton (and owners) Len Barrie and Oren Koules executed to perfection the gameplan they shared with us prior to the NHL draft in Ottawa," Feaster said in a release.

"During that time it became apparent to me that this new ownership group did not need my advice or expertise, and I came to the conclusion that it was time to move on.""

Also, a huge blow to Nashville as Alexander Radulov joins a mildly alarming defection to the KHL

What ever happened with the plan for the Rangers to play at Yankee Stadium as the last sporting event ever there?

I'd pay... nothing I'd like more to have my favorite hockey team play at my least favorite baseball team's stadium and get all the Yankees fans panties in a bunch.

http://www.nypost.com/seven/08172008/sports/rangers/sundin_itchin_to_lace_em_up_on_broadway_124830.htm

Quote :
"Free-agent center Mats Sundin has declared his interest in playing for the Rangers this season, well-connected sources have told The Post.

J.P. Barry, who represents the elite, 37-year-old former Toronto pivot, has been in constant communication with Rangers front-office personnel this week, The Post has learned, though the conversations have not reached the stage of a contract negotiation.

There have been no numbers exchanged between Sundin and the Rangers, who have approximately $2 million of cap space to spend on the 2008-09 roster.

We're told Sundin, who recorded 78 points (32-46) last season, has no interest in returning to the Maple Leafs, who have offered him a one-year, $7M contract to re-up. Sundin apparently has negligible interest in joining Montreal, which has been chasing him since February, or Vancouver, which has offered a two-year, $20M deal.

Indeed, sources report that No. 13's second choice is Philadelphia, whose GM, Paul Holmgren, has been aggressive in his pursuit of the first-line center who could swing the balance of power in the East.

The Rangers would love to have Sundin, there is no question about that. He could team with Markus Naslund and Nikolai Zherdev while Chris Drury shifts to left wing to play with Scott Gomez and perhaps Ryan Callahan.

But GM Glen Sather faces a daunting challenge in reconstructing the roster in order to fit Sundin under the cap, and would almost certainly have to dilute his defense in order to do so.

Assuming Sundin would be willing to play for between $5-7M, the Blueshirts would almost certainly have to move defenseman Michal Rozsival, who re-signed on July 1 for $5M per for four years.

The problem, however, is that the Rangers have only six NHL defensemen on their roster - including Rozsival."

I'm kinda on the fence on this one, Sundin is great and will make the rangers a better team (esp. since we really overpaid for rosival) but the rangers are loaded with centers already and this could jeopardize the future of the organization (with the amount of money that would be required if zherdev, dubinsky, or dawes) in tying up the young guys for years to come

"The Ottawa Senators finally resolved their contract dispute with defenceman Andrej Meszaros on Friday, trading the restricted free agent to the ever-changing Tampa Bay Lightning. In exchange, the Senators received defencemen Filip Kuba and Alexandre Picard and a first round pick the Lightning previously acquired from the San Jose Sharks. Sources add that Meszaros is expected to sign a six-year contract with the Lightning averaging $4 million a season."

I'll be getting it. The demo was fantastic. I generally don't care for those be a pro modes, but I had a blast playing it in the demo, and the 6 vs 6 online league idea is something I've been calling for for years.

FYI Best Buy's site has NHL 09 listed in stock at the Capital Blvd location. I am expecting all of them to have it tomorrow.

Also, glowing reviews so far http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/xbox360/nhl09

The Habs 100 year team in the game is pretty awesome. Ken Dryden is impossible to score on, and Rocket Richard is a beast. I hate how all these sports games have legends and historic teams, but don't have the rights to any of the actual players, so it's cool to see that they were able to do this. And no helmets too.

Practice mode has some bugs in it. As the Canes, Frank Kaberle cannot be subbed out of the lineup on the penalty kill. Then, if you start a 5 on 3 drill, it just goes to a black screen with a whistle looping over and over until you pause the game and exit.

Do you guys find the scoring in Be A Pro to be ridiculously low? Every game for me is 1-0, 2-0, 2-1. Once the AI figured out my tendencies I've been completely shut down.

9 games in here at Albany with an offensive D-man, on the first line. Can't remember my exact stats, something like 5 goals and 7 or 8 assists.

hahahaha epic fail

Radulov leaves for the new KHL shitting on Nashville and the league and burning all bridges on his noisy way out the door. Then, he plays like 3 games and realizes how much Russia sucks, and wants to come back.
