I'm not convinced Robinho is strong enough to play in the Premiership.

robinho is sick no doubt about that, but we will have to see how he can do getting pushed around. He was good in the spanish league, but he never got touched there. For mine and man utd's sake, i hope he doesn't do well.

Liverpool should start Lucas, i think hes got a lot of potential, he just never gets to play. Liverpool never needed Gareth Barry, they have a ton of CMs already. If he was playing in the back that would be one thing, but another defensive mid, on top of masch, lucas, and plessis, was not the answer to their problems.

Insanity on Transfer day.

PREMIER LEAGUE TRANSFER TRACKER:
In: Blackburn (Bunn), Everton (Saha), Liverpool (Flora, Gulacsi, Riera), Newcastle (Gonzalez), Portsmouth (Belhadj), Tottenham (Pavlyuchenko, Corluka), West Brom (Donk)

Out: Bolton (Dzemaili), Fulham (Zakuani, John), Liverpool (Finnan, Voronin), Man City (Corluka, Vidal), Man Utd (Saha), Stoke (Parkin), Wigan (Bouaouzan)

And there's 5 hours left.

Apparently Man City have lodged offers for:

Robinho
Berbatov
David Villa
and Mario Gomez

and this is all in the midst of Thaksin Shinawatra selling his majority stake to a group from the UAE

I still can't believe Chelsea didn't do it. If they wanted him so bad why not pull the trigger.

Looks like they got beat to the punch by a bunch of spend-happy Arabs.

Berbatov to United for 30.75 Million GBP

the start of the big five, perhaps? and is this the first time Chelsea's been outbid since Roman's been there?

I hate him so much but you have to admire Wenger's refusal to spend a shit ton of cash in the transfer market and still put out a team like he does. They were so fun to watch the other day against Newcastle, and yes, I know it was Newcastle and yes I know they lost to Fulham earlier this year... but still, dude can coach and find young talent from hell

or I guess when they don't win the PL this year, you can laugh at his refusal to spend

"The wearing of this [Newcastle] shirt has caused controversy due to the recently contested Tyne-Wear derby, with Sunderland AFC refusing to give Ashley permission to wear it in the Stadium of Light corporate box. On the 9 November 2007, the day before the game, it was announced on the clubs official website that Ashley would sit in the away end with the Newcastle United fans so he could wear the club's colours. The game ended in a 1-1 draw. At half time, stewards at the stadium stopped him from buying a pint of lager for every Newcastle fan in the away end."

What is any team in the league doing nowadays? If you aren't slinging some kind of money around, then you get shit on in the bottom of the league.

most teams throw around money to fill holes in their team. some just throw it around to stop others from buying a player because they can. i'm thinking mainly of the obi mikel transfer.

all in all the spending is just absurd. Would something like baseball and the luxury tax and work in the epl

Speculation says that Chelsea purchased Ivanovic just to keep Man U from picking him up since it was known he was good friends with Vidic. Seeing as how Ivanovic has never taken the field since the move other than for the reserves, it seems there may be merit to it.
