No its not an oxymoron. For example... I went to Yellowstone and just went on and on about how awesome the elk are, and how cool it was to see them. Then, I was planning my ELK hunting trip.

It is totally possible to appreciate an animal and still hunt. Plus, I LOOOOVE me some cats and dogs as pets, but don't hunt them. Is that a better example for you?

^^ I am a wildlife major... yes I realize that. And there is a difference in hunting something and killing something. There is no season on my dog, so it would be killing someones pet if you shot him. There is a season on game animals - and it would not be in place if I were the only person on earth hunting. Get over it.

Do you EVER look at deer and watch their behavior without killing them, and have any appreciation for them? Do you enjoy just seeing the turkeys that you don't get a shot at? Because I do like to watch deer. I have held fawns that were only hours old in my arms, and then when the season came, I shot deer. If you don't, then thats cool. I'm just curious. I'm not trying to make you agree with me - there's nothing to win here.

sure i do love my dog, because I don't follow YOUR rules. like i said, I love MOST animals. I never said I was an animal lover. I would never shoot my dog, but I would shoot a deer, turkey, squirrel, rabbit, etc etc.

As long as he loves pet animals and can hunt game animals, then that's ok with me. If he don't love game animals, then I won't hold it against him.
