God almighty

I ordered a new motherboard because mine broke last week, it got here today, on the same day Dragon Age came out.

Just now I realize that my ram (DDR2) doesn't fit in my new PC.

This is the second time this has happened to me in the past 1.5 years.

They need to stop changing ram configurations so damn much.

Are you right-clicking?

Shouldn't have to click to move to do a melee attack, the character will move automatically once you target someone. If you're trying ranged attacks and the line of fire is blocked, though, you'll have to manually move into a better position.

Having a lot of fun with it so far, although it's not without its bugs. I got hit with a fire attack at the end of The Harrowing right before I killed the boss and proceeded to go through the following cinematics (which take place back in the dormitories or whatever) on fire the entire time. lolz.

I've run into a fucking stupid bug after several cutscenes. The game is paused to tell me whatever hint it needs to, and it won't allow me to unpause the game. I hit the spacebar once and it unpauses and immediately repauses the game. I have to quit and reload the game to continue.

The dog is badass though.

So glad I went with the PC version...dealing with all the skills and items would be a royal PITA with a controller

This game is great, but the combat system is very dodgy. Maybe as I level up it'll get better...

So last night I discovered Tactics, where you can issue a series of commands in order, almost like macros, depending on the stance you are in. It seems that there is a limit to the amount of stringed commands you can do, but this makes the combat system so much more dynamic. Basically, if I customize everything correctly, all I have to do is switch stances, and all my pre-programmed reactions to battles just automagically do there thing. So far this is an EPIC purchase.

^^ I haven't gotten to play it yet, but from what I understand the number of commands you can have in the tactics menu is dependent upon your combat tactics skill.

Played for a good 2-3 hours last night. Game is amazing so far, everything I hoped it would be. It does seem a bit easy, but I'm sure the difficulty will pick up as it goes on.

Liking the game so far. One thing that's frustrating me is all the locked boxes that I can't open, nor even the rogue in my party. I'm only just past the tutorial level, they shouldn't be ridiculously hard.

Played right up until you start your "training" to become a jedi. But it was 2am so i figured it was a good stopping point. My only gripes so far are with the controls. I keep moving my mouse to the edge of the screen expacting it to pan, but it never does :-P

I didn't touch the keyboard one time last night, instead using the mouse for everything

I haven't gotten in a really big fight yet, so I'll probably have to utilize some hotkeys in the future

what i've found works for me ok is holding down the right mouse button so i can free look and then using keys to move. Half the time though i hold down the right click button in a place thinking my character will continue to follow the cursor (like d2 or the witcher).

Aside from some dropped frames in the opening cinematic (wtf?) and the aforementioned bug with my character being on fire during a lengthy cinematic (which I don't think is platform related), I haven't had any problems. Keep in mind that the last three games I played through were Cave Story, Super Metroid, and Final Fantasy VII, though, so I'm not the type to obsess over games having the absolute best graphics.

The visuals have actually impressed way more than I thought they would. They did a great job with the art and texture work, that even though it's a 3D game, it has that pre-rendered look that I love in RPGs.

figured out the fighting thing, was throwing me that you left click on your quick item bar, but right click on an enemy.

some of the harder fights you really have to use some strategy, like trying to entice some of the creatures to come after you and pick them off one at a time.

My dude is level 6 and is kicking ass with two weapons but my dalish armor that I started with is still my best armor option

So far I am impressed with everything about this game except for the loot. I am however very impressed with the loot system of Torchlight - this game is close to Diablo 2 as you can get, and after playing the demo is has me yearning even more for Diablo 3 (ahem, which is going to be the mother of all games). I recommend trying it out. It doesn't feel as dark and serious as DAO, but it feels like a loot game should feel, like to Diablo 2.

There's no comparison because they aren't even in the same genre.

Dragon Age is an RPG
Diablo is an action game with a few RPG elements

Torchlight is almost exactly like Mythos, except you have to pay for this.

I'm so pissed off at the bugs in this game. It just randomly crashed on me in the middle of a cutscene, no error message or anything.

DAO. I have to save my game even more than I would normally, in case I run into a bugged cutscene where I can't unpause the game.

I'm about 6 hours into it on the 360 and I have no complaints as of yet. You can hotkey 6 spells/abilities per character, plus a slightly clunkier version of the Mass Effect menus (i.e. I really wish there were a single-level selection wheel for battles, but whatevs) for additional stuff. I don't know if I'm playing it the "right" way, but it works for me. I've also had no issues with the graphics, FWIW--I'm sure it looks super baller on a top-of-the-line PC, and word on the street is it looks better on PS3 than on XBox, but it's fine for me on the 360.

I played this shit for like four hours tonight, I think I'm gonna start back again in just a minute. GOOD GAME.

so yeah i just played this game for 6 hours....

i wouldn't say the PC graphics are 'top of the line' but its not ugly. i can think of a few games that came out 4-5 years ago with better graphics.

Awesome game so far. Being boring and playing a human noble warrior first time through. I think the combat is well balanced so far: not frustratingly difficult, but tricky enough that if you're careless or just try to charge into the fray, even a group of simple bandits will rip you to shreds. You have to be deliberate and use strategy.

man, got to some points that are hard as fuck, you have to use a TON of strategy in your fights. Hiding behind wagons, and barrels, trying to draw the enemy out so your archer(s) can get them etc. Hard as hell but its definitely a lot more rewarding than other games over the years

Flying Tiger, try updating your video drivers.

I almost scored last night with my noble dwarf warrior. Right before I entered the provings, a bitch was like, hey baby after your fight come back and see me and I'll show you a good time. I came back after my epic battle and she didn't do anything but say, greetings my lord or some shit. I was hoping for a revealing cut scene, lol.

^ Haha I had the same thing happen...if I didn't have this OCD need to be a "good guy" on my first play through of games like that I would've gotten my freak on. Did you manage to get that dagger from the weapon merchant? It looks totally badass, since I'm taking up a dual wielding spec its paired along my longsword atm.

I'm counting the minutes until the end of the day. I'm taking off work tomorrow and on my way home picking up a shitton of energy drinks and junk food...gonna stay up all night and geek out.

I'm playing my character as a total douchebag in hopes of getting into more battles and becoming an evil tyrant. I'll play it through again as a good king of the old kingdom just to see how it's different, but not until I pillage everything that lays before me, lol.
