So since it seems that most of us are very cool with dating, marrying, hooking up with, etc. with someone of a different race....what would you guys recommend to someone who is dating someone of another race and things are moving towards the realms of marriage? The family truly despises this other person....could you guys tell or give examples of how your dealt with going against the grain when it came to mom/dad?

I've found women of other races attractive, no doubt, but I wouldn't actually date them out of discomfort over cultural differences, especially if I wound up spending time with their friends & families. It'd just be awkward hanging out at an all-black or all-asian family function or party where I'm the only cracker. I married someone with a similar background to mine, not just racial but cultural, from a respected Raleigh family.

Mixed-race children are left to the mercy of genetics the same as unmixed kids. I've seen some damn hot mulatto women as well as fugly ones. I figure you're more likely to get picked on if you're ugly than if you're mixed.

whatever, i think my parents would be rather irratated at me if i happened to bring home a girl of a different 'race' (Indian might be as far as they would stretch as they are really Caucasian) they are pretty big on being able to see physical traits in our family in successive generations, and some 'racial' groups tend to overly subdue features of other groups

....Most people who date outside of their race, kind assume that they'll slightly be stepping out of their comfort zones, which in a large part is the best thing about not going with what's safe and acceptable. So you'd be uncomfortable going to a restaurant with all Asian, or Indian folks...that's interesting b/c there's been numerous times when Ive been places with friends, business lunches, dates, etc and been the only multiracial guy in the room, and it didnt phase me.

..you could of left the, 'from a respected Raleigh family' out b/c you come off kind of prickish..b/c there's lots of powerful multi-racial folks here in the triangle, you just didnt know where to find them!
