Perhaps you haven't noticed that it's currently 2008, and plenty of people are sick of the things they were all about in 2004. And really, there's no way to fairly compare what the electoral votes looked like in 2004 on this day with what they look like now. It's not a realistic comparison. If it was, you'd have to take into account the fact that several states that were full red or dark red in 2004 are currently lightly shaded.

Finally, part of the reason people finally voted for Bush in 2004 was that they didn't want to switch presidents during a war. They don't have a choice this time, and the war's winding down anyway.

I wasn't 100% on Kerry, and I'm not 100% on Obama, but I'm about 95% sure he'll win.

Let's look at what Obama has supported- Eliminating secret ballots in union votes so crooked union bosses can see who voted against them, has supported a total handgun ban, his goons tried to have the sponsor of an ad that stated facts about his association with Ayers prosecuted by the Justice Dept., he wants to drastically increase income taxes to pay for more entitlements, etc.... It doesn't really matter what he stands for though. His cool-aid drinking worshippers will vote for him, but there are enough rational thinkers in this country to keep him out of office.

it is pathetic when people who have actually liked mccain before many republicans jumped on his presidential bandwagon realize that his stances on many issues have changed (to become mysteriously more conservative) ever since the whole run for the white house started. yet the mccaniacs who refute this seem to know less about their candidate than they probably should.

also i think linking one of the nominees to the current incumbent is kind of a crucial element of political strategy in many, many elections. in fact, i think it happens pretty much every single time there's any kind of election. be it presidential or not.
