Actually, I'm pretty sure they've made it very clear her mission was to keep John away from metal. Namely because they have a tendency to flake out and kill people - like the way Reese recalled.

Which makes sense, given John's emotional attachment to metal (i.e., T2)

I'm so glad they killed the gf. I was getting tired of her. I was actually cheering in my living room when she got shot. They better not kill Cameron though.

This show is bad ass. It's so bleak.

Too bad it will get cancelled before its natural conclusion.

^^Yeah, if you couldn't see how much John advanced in this episode then you must have been watching a different show. He went from a kid that mostly just did what his mom told him, to someone that you could actually see as the leader of the revolution. It was so bad ass to see him reveal that he had been on to Riley for a while. And breaking into that chicks hotel room and basically being like "I'm John Connor, bitch" was awesome.

And if being told directly that in a couple of years you will hold the entire fate of civilization on your shoulders and also having your girlfriend/one of the 3 people on the planet that you could be yourself around get killed doesn't warrant a good cry, I don't know what does.

I agree completely.

What did he say? "If you lie to me I'm going to shoot you in the head." Badass.

He's come a long way since the mopey kid that saw the girl jump off of the school roof. I love the writing on this show.

^^ Could also be the scottish ceo chick.

The whole communication with John Connor could imply that their are factions among the terminators. If so and if the scottish chick is the same one on the submarine, she could be a potential ally of the crew.

Why is she trying to teach the john henry morals, anyway?

I was surprised the liquid metal could swim. I thought it had to sink to the bottom.

I'm not so sure someone whose first move was to slice up a crew member would be called an "ally." Strikes me like the faction John was communicating with was planning a double-cross.

But the idea of factions isn't new - the terminators in "Allison from Palmdale" (i.e., when we learn Cameron's backstory) pretty much elude to the fact that not every terminator wants to wipe out humanity.

I think this ties back to the factions angle. Note that the T-1001 sees the Connors in the therapist's office (specifically John) and doesn't even seem to notice. Which would seem to imply that she is acting at least somewhat independently of the "original" Skynet.

Perhaps this is the result of the "alternate futures" they keep eluding to? (i.e., Derek talks about how the futures keep changing - like the one where Andy Goode is no longer there, or how he can't remember the guy who tortured him, etc.)

I'm fairly sure it could create a way to mechanically float. All it would have to do is displace more water than its own weight.

With the introduction of different factions of machines, I'm wondering if she independently came up with the idea that machines can't defeat humans, so she's trying to create a moral skynet so that they can coexist.

But the season finale makes me wonder:

I didn't think she actually saw John Conner.

John was obstructed by the little girl right as she went past the door.

How many more episodes are left this season?

Off to a slow start, but another quality episode.

At the end when Derek said that he could hold up through torture and Cameron said something like "It's happened before" was that a reference to the bassment scene last season?

I think this would be implied, given his extremely adverse reaction upon first seeing Cameron, yes.

The show is just too depressing to draw a big audience.

I'm guessing everyone just moves on. Sci fi writers who sell shows to fox probably assume shit will only last a year or two, anyway.

Goddamn, that was freaking lame. Killing a major character in such inconsequential fashion?

Fuck me. Even Tasha Yar got a better treatment than that.

Kay Yow had a self eulogy....

It's not like they had time to continue the Reese drama. Shit has to end quickly. Given the circumstances, there's no reason for the whining.

(And let's be honest, the reese stuff was really ancillary. It's tough to cut him like that, but there is definitely a better ROI in spending their final minutes on better storylines.)

I really like the show's stylistic sensibilities.

i was just surprised how it went down. when they first showed him with a bullet in his head i didn't believe it was him until they showed it again. they could have at least had him dying trying to save john or something

I can appreciate the little touch of realism in a show about future robots hunting teenagers.

I would have felt insulted if he'd died in John arms while saying "John....gaaah.....earn this...."

I thought they way they down played it was awesome. Heres this character they've spent all this time buidling up and then blam. Not everyone gets an over the top heroic death scene. While he was more of an important person to us, to the terminator he was just the same as the maid/babysiter chick.

The episode was awesome and the scene with Ellison and Weaver in the elevator was great. If its really being cancelled I dont know what to say. You'd think that now that BSG is done it would have a better chance.

I just figured that he got shot in the shoulder or something when that Terminator first walked out, I was pretty surprised when it showed the bullet hole in his head.

While I agree that not every character needs an over the top heroic scene to go out that was just so forced and unexpected. He deserved at least a little bit better.
