I'm still laughing that the original poster thinks that he can be 5' 8", 150lbs with fat and still be able to call himself an athletic build.

I'm just saying, I would run my penis into Jessica Biel and Kate Beckinsale like an autistic kid putting the peg in the hole.

They are super hot and I'd bet serious money on Biel weighing 135-145, and Beckinsale weighing 135-140 easily.

Yeah, at 5'7" I find it hard seeing them that light. Maybe 5-10 lbs heavier...the 5'10" Victoria Secret model I could see being that light because those bitches are crazy skinny.

headdesk.

I weight 150 and i have a body composition that floats between 11.5% and 12.5% body fat. Given I have a quality level of muscle tone, especially in my legs and calves given all the swim/bike/run i do.

Quote :
"oxymoron much?"

not quite, analytical thought is usually a requirement to conceptualize something, so i can understand where you may have failed. Regardless, a 9 - 10% body fat composition would be ideal for me, while remaining at 150. Meaning I could still stand to lose 3lbs.

but running does. biking and swimming account for the upward part of my legs, which is specifically why i said legs and calves.

do you ever have anything fruitful to contribute or do you prefer operating by making poorly formed conclusions?

^^^True. The biking has helped add a lot of muscle up there, and so has the running. the running has continued to keep them tight, but not small. i run, maybe, 12 - 15 miles a week, which is not enough to make your legs twig thin.

^^
you clearly don't know anything about swimming. this would be the point where i readdress my previous statement towards you.

^TRUTH. but its okay, trolling really doesn't bother me. especially when its this blatant.

The issue i have with this thread is that all women are weak...

there are women @ my gym that are 5'2 125 that are not huge but are tone and strong with nice abs and STRONG legs ( i <3 thighs that don't touch at the top )

I guarantee that unless you swam varsity, Arab13 knows more about swimming than you. Also he is correct. Unless you are doing a full speed sprint (say 200 yards or less) your legs don't do much. If your legs are getting a workout from swimming 1000+ yards, either your legs are incredibly weak or you have a terrible stroke.

sumfoo, i mistook what you were saying, i think.

^pay attention to what it is that i actually said before you become condescending. Arab stated that you don't use your legs that much, when in fact you use your legs multiple times per arm cycle. This is why i stated that he must not know anything about swimming. I specifically stated biking and swimming for the upward part of my legs because the biking works both the quads and hamstrings (i'll clarify that i use clipless shoes since every technicality is getting questioned). Its moronic or naive for one to suggest that swimming has no effect on leg muscles.

If he knows more than he should express it and demonstrate it appropriately as opposed to making idiotic inane retorts. i apologize but i cannot make up for the lack of commonsense that has been demonstrated in this thread.

5'4" and 150ish is average for a female. But that is US, which is skewed.

I'm 5'6" and 145 as a guy. I'm not saying those dimensions on a girl can't work, but probably 9 times out of 10 its not pretty.

Quote :

That's a ridiculous statement. There are plenty of long distance runners out there who have a decent amount of mass. Adequate nutrition and genes play a large role as well.

12 to 15 miles a week is not distance running.

Distance runners pull 50-80 miles a week at least. And I've never, ever met a long distance runner who didn't have extremely lean legs. Not to say there arent ANY, but it's got to be a serious corner case.

BTTT, 5'2-5'3 and 110-125 is ideal for me

Long distance running and muscle mass don't go together, I don't care what type of genes you have. Now, long distance runners have excellent body definition, so you see their leg muscles very well, but that's because they have such low bf%.

there is no "quality level of muscle tone" on a guy that's 5'-8" and 12% body fat. That merely makes you a small framed person. So what if you can swim, run, and ride a bike? Big deal; anyone that isn't paralyzed and/or morbidly obese is typically capable of doing all three of those. if you were 175-180 pounds at that same percentage body fat, then you could be considered an athletic build.

I'm sure i have much more experience than you on the subject, I have been swimming competitively since I was 6, and still do.

and like I said, if you use your legs that much for freestyle you're doing it wrong, (enough to make them look muscular at all that is) 80%+ of your power should come from the pull alone. that or you just suck at it.

i mostly just greatly enjoy watching you box yourself into corners like this

Quote :
"when in fact you use your legs multiple times per arm cycle. "

a freestyle kick is 6-8 inches of movement, if you do it right, from the level, it's all fast twitch and energy effort wise should be a very small portion of the overall output.
sprinting is a bit different and the percentage is bigger on the kick but still much less than the pull.

Quote :
"Its moronic or naive for one to suggest that swimming has no effect on leg muscles. "

very marginal effect
