both are doing better than I expected but I get the feeling that McCain is calmer and Obama is getting more worked up

Trying to be unbiased I would score McCain ahead so far...not by much though

definitely an even debate so far. both are doing relatively well.

we're not used to this after the last 2 elections

Obama got destroyed. He doesn't understand that it isn't about why we went into Iraq it's about winning the war now so that we don't loose everything they troops fought for to begin with.

You can tell Obama is getting frustrated because he is being heavily questioned about his positions.

i'm not impressed with either.

really quite frustrating that neither one of them are giving substantive answers.

granted that's how politicians function i suppose

No, if you don't see the major loopholes in Obamas Iraq stance after that then something is wrong.

CNN has a live web stream showing the usual graph of rep/dem/ind instant polling.

So far, WHen McCain speaks its Rep high, Dem low, independent inbetween
same with Obama except switch Rep and Dem

Rarely does the ind graph shoot above the partisan one, only Obama once I think.

btw, I bet it doesnt move much bc people are worrying about their wallet more than the FP issues being discussed, lame duck debate

Overall, neither candidate is pulling away from the other. They aren't fucking up but they aren't winning. Ultimately, that's not really good for McCain given the current poll trends. He needed to come out and win this thing big.

Also, why the hell has McCain not looked at Obama?

With all the talk about McCain getting angry and out of control, it's actually Obama that looks frustrated and angry.

Ironic much?

"can't meet with PM of Spain"
hmm, that was a cheap shot.
Could have just as easily said "McCain didn't know who the PM of Spain was", which would have been true, and just as damning

"billions into airport security" = wasted money

^^^ yeah, i'd be really curious how much you're making yearly on capital gains such that the tax rate is your deciding factor between these two guys....

I wonder when people will realize that you don't simply get a free pass for screwing up on a world scale by merely saying "let's look to the future, not to the past."

I think the most striking thing so far is that both of them come off as far more competent than either Bush or Kerry from the last election.
