Is it around the joint of the big toe? That might be a bunion. If it's the whole arch of the foot then you probably have fallen arches.

If your shoes are old the arch support in them is probably warn out and insoles or new shoes could help. Or they could be new and never had enough arch support to begin with.

But the surface area compared to females areas they have to shave is so much smaller.

Why don't [most] guys shave in the shower anyway, I could see it hurting less in the shower when the steam could help.

as far as shaving in the shower is concerned, it really helps when shaving your face to be able to look in a mirror. I'm guessing you can imagine the what happens to most mirrors in a steamy shower...
