As great as Varlamov played against the Rangers (a team who hasn't been able to score all year), it'll be very interesting to see how he plays against a team that has any offensive talent.

RIP 08-09 Rangers...I guess it won't be until 2048 that they win it all again

They put up a hell of a fight, I don't see how they could have made it any harder for the Caps. Now the Caps just have to take it all the way and get that cup!

The issue most of us Rangers fans are having (except PackHockey12, since he's a moron), is that we all came into this series not expecting much of anything -- went up 2-0, figured "oh hey, we can win this thing", then watched them going back to the unscoring mess they were when they limped down the stretch.

That makes sense... My friend went to the last game in NY in his Caps gear, and he said the people were just sad, like they knew what was about to happen. Didn't say anything to him, they just had their heads hanging.

^We've gotten used to it

There's no reason why the Rangers should have lost 3 straight games to the Caps. 1/3 was not supposed to be hard to handle.

What's worse I think is that the Rangers actually DID recover and played a pretty excellent game in Game 7, but the Caps took it from them.

The Rangers and the Devils are pretty much in the same boat...if it wasn't for that last goal

give me a break, I didn't believe we were going to win this series and then we won the first two and the fourth and I thought we could pull out the upset. But I guess in the end we reverted back to playing the same game we have been playing all season even though we turned it around for the first two periods in game 7. Good effort in game 7, i'm proud of the boys, but your team bested us terpball and I shake your hand for a good series

I bet Gary Bettman had a wet dream when the Canes and Caps won. He gets the series he always wanted (since the lockout).

I decided I want to pick a Western team to cheer for until the Cup, any thoughts? Right now I'm leaning Chicago.

i feel the same way. if i had to chose a team from the west to pull for this year, it would have to be either chicago or anaheim. probably anaheim since i'd like to see the 8th seed take out the 1 and 2

definitely Chicago. i like their franchise, they are old time hockey and i love the city too. not too mention, how could you not like a team supported by Clark Griswold?

I (almost) fully approve the new Versus scorebug.

I'm pleased, other than the extra space in the HD area with the HD logo. That isn't needed.

that would require us to actually have multiple games in HD.

i'd put them up in HD but I don't have the card to do it just yet

^^ my point is that luongo is big, fights through screens well, and likes physicality...which means getting him mixed up in the rough stuff in front of the net is beneficial to him if anything

Ferris Bueller lived in Chicago...it was Cameron who was a Detroit fan, I don't see why Ferris would necessarily cheer for the Red Wings too.

It's stuff like this that make me hate the Detroit Red Wings.
http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=421136
The Hit.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dL0OG3vgbxM
The fact that Brown got 5 and a game for this clearly shows that a)the Red Wings have built themselves up so high in their ivory tower mentality that they feel invulnerable and b)there is a clear knee-jerk reaction from the refs to protect the beloved Red Wings. Was Hudler blindsided? Sure, but why? Because the idiot was too busy gawking at his pass to realize that he is in fact playing hockey and not figure skating with sticks. Brown didn't elbow nor even charge him. It was a clean fucking hit yet the Ice Princess Red Wings are calling for Brown's head.

Disagree, while Hudler shouldn't have been watching his pass, the hit was late and definitely aimed at his head...very similar to the brashear/betts hit, though not as late...

I hate Detroit as much as the next guy, but that's a dirty hit and deserved 3-6 games

That doesn't make any sense. I'm no Ferris Bueller expert, but I'm quite certainly he never showed any sign or mention of being a Wings fan. Just because Cameron wore a Gordie Howe jersey around doesn't mean Ferris was a fan.

Unless you're wearing a Mikita jersey, you're a Wings fan.

Also, who would have thought at the beginning of the night that Luongo's reach-back stick heel save would be second best on the night?
