i didn't think it was much different then when charlie was talking about extreme home makeover and sears. they were kinda poking fun at the product placement aspect of it i think, while doing product placement at the same time.

the coors endorsement was pretty ringing

but i dont really care, as long as it is funny. i would watch a commercial if it was funny. people stayed away from the Caveman show not b/c it was a commercial in long format, but b/c it wasnt funny.

As long as it's not a recurring theme, which I would guess it won't be, the placements don't bother me. They played some good jokes off of D&B, and I'm pretty sure they've always been pimping Coors if you watch in detail; they just haven't done it to that extent.

All said, it was an average episode.

Frank trying to hang himself was hilarious though.

I thought the whole D&B scene was overkill. I've seen seasons 1-3 and all of 5 so far and the product placement seemed out of the norm to me. I love the stupid conversations they always have, but when you go on a 5 minute rant about Dave & Busters and then move straight to Coors and follow it all up with back to back D&B and Coors commercials it's a bit much.

the coors one didn't bother me either because it was totally in character for charlie not to be able to read and coors is the only believable beer that they'd have a sign for that he could mistake it for. the only one i can think of, anyway.

the product placement there led directly to a funny moment on the show, so it doesn't bother me a bit. i only find product placement annoying when it's completely unrelated to what's going on in the show and it's just thrust in your face. how many shows can you think of where a scene starts out with a zoomed in shot of the apple logo on the back of a macbook and then pans up to the people in the scene?

I sort of figured the obvious product placement was supposed to go along with the "recession" theme of the episode. As in, they're so hard up for cash, they're shamelessly plugging Coors in the middle of the show.

Also, the whole thing about the fake money was hilarious. Totally relevant, too.

What's with the hyper-eccentricity. I liked it when the gang's problems escalated. Now it seems they go full blown crazy from the first second of the episode.
