Oh, I see. Mine were never that good.
Of course, I'm sure that now there are some new pieces that I didn't have access to then. I only had a few movable pieces to choose from....

I'm trying to find online images of those pieces. I found a book (The Unofficial LEGO Builder's Guide) that has a "Brickopedia" section, but where can I go online to see EVERY lego piece ever made? I'd prefer something not flash based, so I can link to images....
Anyone know of an online source for this?

There aren't terribly many more kinds of movable pieces from what I've seen, but they are more common in later sets.

I think I can help with that.

http://www.bricklink.com/

This site has a pretty comprehensive reference catalog of parts. Let me know if you need help finding anything in it. I use it very often when I need parts for my robotics classes. (I teach using NXT kits.) If I or my students come up with an idea to build something, I show them the parts catalog on this site and we see if we can find what we need to accomplish the idea. This site also has its own little eBay section where you can buy individual parts. Last summer when I restocked all of my NXT kits, I bought over 400 various parts for less than $20.

I was at Crabtree today. There must have been about 100 people in line waiting to get into the Lego Store. It was packed.
I had a chance to take part in building the 8 ft Lego Yoda. It's being built right close to Belks I believe on the first floor in the Promo Court. They have several tables set. On each table, their is a box of legos. Some are tan, some are green, some are brown. Then their's a set of instructions on how to build this big block using the legos on the table. After you build your block, you give it to the master builder. Master Builder gives you a coupon for the lego store. It started yesterday and ends tomorrow. If you want to take part in building Yoda, get down to Crabtree.

What time were you guys there that you saw the long lines? I was going to take my kids there Sunday. I wonder if we go at noon it won't be so bad. Why the hell was there a line anyway? Because of the coupon the builder was giving out?

I don't mind kids everywhere. I just hope I can get into the store to buy something. Grandma is coming with us and my boys know how to sweet-talk her into buying them toys.

I went at noon Saturday. There were 3 lines:

1) To get in the lego store. This line was so long you would have had to be retarded to waste your time waiting in it. I wouldn't be surprised if there was an hour wait. The line came out of the store, all the way down the side, and snaked back around.

2) They had some kind of table set up next to the area the "master builder" was working in. It looked like they were giving out lego sales catalogs and some sort of sticker. MAybe this was where you picked up the coupon to use in the store? This line was long enough for me to not want to stand in it. Maybe 30 people long.

3) The roped off area to help with assembling Yoda. Not long at all. In fact, I just walked in. The master builder guy is also a master salesman. He didn't build anything while I was there, he just showcased several lego sets and did trivia on various lego series. Like something you'd see on QVC. Had the two dozen or so kids that were there screaming every time he held up a different lego set. I guess he'd get done with Yoda fairly quickly so they purposely slow things down to make it last the weekend.

I plan on going back in a few weeks, maybe during a work day, to actually see the store.

yeah, there is normally a line wrapped around part of the mall, people are saying there is a ~1 hour wait just to enter the store.

Next week it should cut down, today is the last day of the grand opening

Went by there at lunch today. Not too busy. Very helpful staff of course. They carry the usual product lines of Star Wars and other popular themes. Nice to see the normal police, city, and pirate lines as well.

The big sets are the ones that are pretty amazing to see, they have this 6000 piece Taj Mahal set for $299.99!

I picked up a neat 3-1 Creator series truck that can be built into either a tow truck, car carrier, or crane.

Saw the big Yoda too over near the escalators coming in from Kanki.
