UNC is having their season set up for some NC State shit. I'll be a bit surprised if this team lives up to the hype. Not saying they are going to be a bust, but I just have the feeling they'll lose 1 or 2 games they shouldn't lose.

nc state shit has different definitions in different contexts.

very rarely does it have a positive connotation.

Once UCONN or ECU beats them, reality will set in, they won't beat both of them. @ Georgia Tech will be eye opening on a more national scale.

ECU at Carolina will be a perfect storm during which I will pray fervently for broken vertebrae and/or N Korean missile descent upon Kenan.

GT put up over 400 yards of offense on UNC last year. but, the jackets had 2 turnover on downs in UNC territory in the 1st half (including one inside the 20), 2 missed field goals, lost 2 fumbles and got picked off once. UNC only had one of their 4 TD drives longer than 39 yards because of the crappy ball control of GT

Tech had their 2nd string QB playing that game and still rolled up 400 yards of offense. We didn't do to well with our 2nd string QB. As PJ gets settled, he'll recruit to the point where he'll go into the season with 3 solid QB's to run his offense, it's a must. Nesbitt will run over UNC. Speed on defense is great, but instincts are much better, Nate Irving is a perfect example. I bet all the UNC linebackers can outrun him in the 40, but no one has his instincts and knows where to be, assignment football, critical in defending the triple option. If you've listened to Butch Davis, he's clearly concerned about his OL situation. The media has done its best to spin the OL situation, but combined with their inexperience at WR, Draughn and Yates are under tremendous pressure, and neither are even above average football players. They might prove to be this season, but are not yet. Like I said, UNC starts out 2-2 and quickly falls from grace by September's end. Another factoid that might seem unimportant, is streaks. UNC hasn't won in Charlottsville since even grad students were born. I have to think that had something to do with their collapse their last season. They have not won in Atlanta since 97 when they had 8 of their 11 on D go pro.

They relied on at least a +2 turnover margin in all of there wins that were not close. When the thurnover margin was equal, they barely beat Duke and McNeese state.

Then they lose all of there starting receivers (Over 50% of there offensive production) and have a very shallow offensive line. The only way they get 8 wins this year is if all the wins come from teams who just hand over the ball to UNC's defense.

5-6 wins. Mark it.

and yes i fully look forward to watching unc fall flat on their pompous faces this year. i just always fear the potential shitting of the bed against them (see 2005, 2006) and having barrington edwards or fucking madison hegecock or ronnie mcgill have a career day against us

you watched a different tarheel team than i did if you can say that that team did not live and die by producing turnovers.

while that's a key to winning, if you go into Citadel like you went into Mcneese State (without Tate this time), you will lose that game if they protect the football.

while i agree that turnovers helped (duh), i think it was the vanilla defensive playcalling that got us into spots where we HAD to have them. hopefully this year winters will be more aggressive since he has more players to work with.

having only 1.5 O-linemen certainly won't help though

was just looking at some ACC stat rankings in our media guide and saw that Carolina ranked dead last in the conference in time of possession last year (we were 7th).

i'm lovin the 2009 outlook. now that they have no WR experience nor OL depth, they'll hold the ball even less. get out the oxygen machines for the defense.

Yep, Butch lost T.J.Yates,Brandon Tate,Anthony Elzy,Zack Pinalto,Mark Paschal and Brooks Foster to injury last year finished 8-5 was in every game except the state game but Tom O'Brien who can't win without the quarterback is a better coach with a better program, only J.P. Giglio can write backwards no proof observations like that.
________________________________________________________________________________

they are fucking delirious ... do they not know that we had over 1/2 of our 2 deep injured for over about a third of the season? no coach can win w/out a QB and 1/2 of their entire 2 deep

then you got this other guy talking about the proof is in the pudding....well 2-0 is might tasty pudding

i don't see why UNC has any hype at all. they have a relatively shitty QB who always under throws his targets, a depleted OL, and most of their offensive production from last year is gone. only thing i see that they have going for them is a decent defense

^^ That's what I've been saying to everyone who brings up UNC...They have no offense. Those who think Yates can carry the offense by himself are only fooling themselves. Their offense last year depended almost entirely on Tate and Nicks. Those guys could make me look good at qb. Let's see what Yates can do by himself. And I emphasize by himself because their rb, Shaun Draughan, is going to be even more average now that he doesn't have a quality line to run behind.

sounds pretty minor. therefore, we don't have to spend energy saying "hate it for dwight" or "i don't like to see anyone get injured" and just jump straight to laughing at unc and cheering for the citadel.

i'll go with 6 wins. it's hilarious that you think your D will stop everything while being on the field for 65% of the season with TEEJ throwing ducks til paulus' lil sister gets the start. droughns = overhyped.

FLAME AWAY.

I've got to see how UNC's offense does without Nicks, Tate, and Foster before I can make any sort of call on UNC. Not having Jones will not help them out any. Draughn is a decent running back, but I don't think you can base a whole offense around him. Plus their Oline is painfully thin.

On defense, they've got some serious speed at LB and talent along the Dline. But they were still 11th in the ACC (i think?) in total defense last year. For as much hype as you hear about their d, that's not good at all.

Caulton Tudor predicted 7-5 for them (9-3 for us), he also picked us to go 4-0 out of conference. He should return the crystal ball to walmart, it let him down so far.

I haven't tried this, but apparently there's an easy way to get ESPN360 access. You have to create a MyESPN account, then go somewhere that has AT&T internet access. I believe McDonald's and Starbucks do. Then you log into ESPN360 and tell it to enable remote access. Then you should be able to use your computer back home to access ESPN360. Again, I haven't tried it, but apparently that works if you can't get a password.

My predictions:

8-9 regular season wins.

Draughn rushes for 1,000 yards.

Yates passes for 2,500 yards.

The D finishes Top 3 in the ACC in scoring defense.

UNC beats the Citadel by 30+.

McNeese is actually a pretty solid FCS program. The Citadel is, well, not. If this game is even close today it does not bode well for UNC's season.
