"Well, there aren't any good bands in the "autotune-heavy bullshit 'punk rock'" genre, but good straight-up/hard rock bands with female vocalists include:"

they aren't autotune-heavy. I'm glad you went ahead and refuted your own point before finishing it (doing my job for me) because you just admitted you simply don't like the genre. You don't like punk rock and therefore think all punk rock is bad? However these bands get millions of fans while the music i just spent the last 30 minutes of not only made my ears bleed but all had ~20k views. aka all of thier friends and friends of friends and a few vinylbandits here and there are the only people that think they're good. I wouldnt come out and say they're super shitty yet you have the odacity to come into a thread and say an entire genre listened to and followed by millions is shitty. WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE?

Is it the fact that these are self-proclaimed christian bands? all of flyleafs songs are heavy lyrics about faith, struggles with faith and God. Each member of the band has had huge struggles and thats what the band represents.

Paramore is your ultimate punk rock band. High energy. ultra style, powerfull vocals and instrumentals with songs of personal struggles and relationship struggles. Ya, some poppy catchy twilight type stuff but at the end of the day good energetic fun. I could see knocking paramore for being a little poppy or flyleaf for being a little wierd but to say its bad music is just bias. Just because YOU don't like music doesn't mean its bad. I HATE classical music but I wouldn't dare go to a symphony and say THIS IS SUCH SHITTY MUSIC LISTEN TO SOME REAL STUFF LIKE FIONA APPLE OR SOMETHING.

Neither band puts on a live show, they DELIVER AN EXPERIENCE. With Paramore its energizing and fun and with flyleaf its a faithful God-touching experience.

"I was talking about lacey and haley from flyleaf and paramore

WTF are you talking about?"

i was giving you trouble

Laceys growth was stopped at the age of 10 due to heavy drug use and never resumed. So shes pretty much frozen at 10 years old. Won't ever have kids or anything.

I fucking love punk rock. These bands wouldn't know punk rock if Iggy Pop slapped their mothers in the uterus before they reached term.

I had no idea they were Christian bands. There are lots of Christian acts that are great. Johnny Cash (talk about a fucking punk rocker) and Al Green spring to mind. Pet Sounds is my favorite album of all time, and contains one of the first instances of a specific reference to God in a pop song. The fact that these bands are Christian doesn't make them bad, the fact that they're bad does.

paramore has some obvious minor threat influences, supposedly the new album is going to be a reincarnation of some of the elements of the older vandal's albums. good punk rock on the horizon

nah son, thats called "myspace emo".

according to my friend who is the authority on emo music from like the early 90s. She shit talks the fuck out of those bands.

I'm personally glad those bands exist. They reflect society today, pussified gayed up versions of shit thats been around for 20 years now.

no, it's really not

there's a rebellious element to kanye, perhaps

but there's nothing remotely punk about these shitty overproduced bands being led by the nose into bland city and being told by an A&R guy how to move

Trolls are pretty brutal in 4E. They're level 9 brutes, have tons of hit points, one fuckin' attack, just basic as hell. But they have regeneration 10 that is only stopped by fire or acid damage, and if you drop 'em to 0 hp with an attack that doesn't do fire or acid damage, they rise on their next turn with 10 hp. Just absolutely relentless if you fucked up as a party and didn't diversify your power selections.

If you threw out your 5 hottest male lead bands, we would probably deem them all "shitty" music as well. It doesn't have so much to do with the female vocalist as with the fact that 1) most pop rock is shitty, and 2) we're all fanatically elitist music snobs on this site.

I listen to a lot of female-fronted rock and metal bands; I've written a research paper analyzing why women in heavy metal have a harder time gaining success in the industry. I don't just dump on girl singers in general. But this thread is about roleplaying games, not music.

PARAMORE-BRAND NEW EYES 9/29

new album tonight!!!

Quote :
"Music Review: Paramore maturing on new disc
By JOHN KOSIK (AP) – 3 hours ago

Paramore, "brand new eyes" (Fueled By Ramen/Atlantic)

Grammy-nominated upstarts Paramore have been labeled everything from punk to emo since their breakout 2007 disc "Riot."

Labels seem to miss the point entirely with Paramore. They just make good music — and their third effort, "brand new eyes," is another burst of youthful energy and infectious to the core.

Lead singer Haley Williams — a mere 20 years old — has a Gwen Stefani-like charisma and she carries the band by being everything Kelly Clarkson is trying to be and Stefani used to be. And she can sing, too.

Josh Farro (guitar/vocals), Zac Farro (drums), Jeremy Davis (bass) and Taylor York (guitar) play with reckless energy and set a great tone for Williams' sassy lyrics.

The disc opens on a nice 1-2 punch with "Careful," where Williams shouts "The truth never set me free/So I did it myself," and lead single "Ignorance," which is already climbing the charts.

Soaring tracks dominate here, including a crowd-ready "Brick By Boring Brick" and the unapologetic fist-pumpers "Feeling Sorry" and "Where The Lines Overlap."

But it's the lighter moments that showcase Paramore's emerging diversity. "Playing God" is a dose of pop-rock bliss, and the acoustic ballads "Exception" and "Misguided Ghosts" prove that Williams can do a lot more than simply wail.

Paramore is confidently maturing, and it shows on "brand new eyes."

CHECK THIS TRACK OUT: Williams proclaims "We're just getting started" on the aptly titled rocker "Looking Up." With a record this fun, here's to hoping she's not kidding.

"

I'm not a big fan of this brand new eyes cd. After a few listens, I only like 3 or 4 tracks. They've gone to more slower songs and their fast high energy songs are what made them great.

With our D&D game on hiatus, I've started up a new game I've been waiting to play for 10 years: Vampire: The Masquerade!

I have four players, all pulled from my regular group. The game is set in Brooklyn, 1995, with a slight change to the metaplot. Namely, the Battle of New York has already happened, and the Camarilla is taking the city back.

I ran my players through their individual preludes last night. They made mortals first, and I led them through their first brushes with the shadows of the World of Darkness up to their Embraces. The final prelude was particularly memorable, as a happy accident of timing had my choice of music ("Why So Serious?" from the Dark Knight soundtrack) complemented the action perfectly.

Super-stoked about this game. I bought my copy of V:TM Revised the first weekend I was at State in '99, and I've never been able to get a game going before now.
