golfers keep throwing their ball to the crowd, i thought they had to finish with the same ball or whatever

can someone clarify the rule?

You have to play the entire tournament with the same golf ball

for example if you play with a PRO-v1x, you have to play with that type of golf ball for the entire tournament. You can, however, rotate golf balls between holes, numbers included.

This helps if you have to hit a provisional ball, you must state "the first was a PRO-v1x 1, the second will be a PRO-v1x 2.

throwing the ball to the crowd or back in the lake has been around for years.

Golf Channel never said anything about it

Tiger and Phil have played so inconsistent all week yet both are starting at Top-5's possibly (and in Phil's case a chance to win it still)... pretty amazing.

Phil

the most feminine fist pumps of all time

like he just found Summer's Eve on sale

but if he makes this he's gotta be the favorite going in

I'm typically a Tiger guy and not a fan of Phil (I think he is fake) but I'm rooting for him today. New York loves him and he would be a great story...

[Edited on June 22, 2009 at 11:47 AM. Reason : and this fucking sucks having to watch this at work on my laptop... will take 1/2 day for playoff]

Cinderella story. Outta nowhere. A former greenskeeper, now, about to become the Masters US Open champion.

I want to see Phil's reaction if he makes a winning/playoff forcing putt on 18

and see how it compares to Tiger's "FUCK YEAH !!!" from last year

No, 18 holes.

[Edited on June 22, 2009 at 11:57 AM. Reason : last year went to sudden death after 18]

did Barnes have Greg Norman over for dinner?

Also, I miss watching him wrestle the Ultimate Warrior for the IC Belt in the early 90's:

I know the 18 holes, just forgot if its match play or stroke play over 18

Figured match, but wasn't 100 percent sure

I'm pretty sure it's stroke play, last year the way it worked out it came down to a match play like scenario but it was a stroke play round.

I guess it could make for a really boring playoff.

I don't think it's a foregone conclusion Phil wins still... he has some US Open demons that will come back on the last 3 holes...

[Edited on June 22, 2009 at 12:11 PM. Reason : and yes it is stroke play... and tiger won on the first sudden death hole last year]

To clarify, it would be 18 tomorrow, if still tied they go to sudden death.

The 18 hole playoff is stroke play...

And in a separate thought Tiger and Rocco were tied through 18 and Tiger won on the first sudden death playoff hole.

What's the confusion?

I got it now, thanks

I still think the British Open 3 hole aggregate playoff is the best

One hole can be fluky, but 18 is way too many

PGA does that (too?) I believe Tiger's win in 2000 was the first year they did that. I like it best as well...

^^ It wasn't the best written sentence anyway...

goddamn, I'd love it if Duval could win this. If not, I'd enjoy a 4 man playoff with Phil, Mahan, Fisher and Glover.

sweet read, Phil. you jackass!
