Actually, it would have been a $4.09 scandal, cuz if I'd let him pay, I'd have gotten the large.

No need to do so. 99.9% chance he was trying to hit that.

And he did this:

Quote :
"he was out the door with his coffee while i waited for my latte."

...because you declined to let him pay. Had you accepted, he would have tried to run some more game.

Man, what kinda guy tries to pick up married women in a coffee shop at 8am when it's obvious they're on their way to work and don't have time to sit around and chat?

You can thank Samwise's idiocy for it getting past page 2. We spent 2 pages telling her she's nuts for thinking anyone could (or would want to) slip roofies in my latte at 8am on a Friday in a fucking Starbucks.

Guys try to pick up women all the time and in many different places. A lot of guys like coffee shops and grocery stores as opposed to bars and parties. The time and place shouldn't matter...the marriage thing maybe. I know that when I was younger, you could have shoved a wedding ring right in my face and I wouldn't have noticed it. Now the first thing I do is look for a ring. And then there are the guys where that doesn't matter. They look at is as a "hey...if she's gonna cheat she's gonna cheat...might as well be with me."

Guys buy my girl drinks all the time when she is out. The way I see it, that's less I have to buy. They spend the money to get her drunk then she comes home and fucks me. Pretty good deal, actually.

Agreed. Some dudes are really ballsy. I was at a bar with my arm around my girl once and a dude walked up and offered to buy her a beer.

I mean, I'd say you shouldn't take it, simply because you're sending the wrong message to him. Now, if you don't give a flying fuck and you're willing to deal with him possibly being a crazy person who doesn't take "no" very well, then sure, let him buy you a drink son.

Guys are ballsy and girls are sloots. Men go after married women and married women are actively looking to get fucked all the time. It happens a lot more than you people would like to think.

I know when I was single the first thing I looked for before talking to a chick was a ring.

But as already said in this thread, a lot of guys don't give a shit.

No, it was about a big misunderstanding and you guys being bitchy. Yes, I'm nuts for thinking that after seeing this kind of thing happen to women at all hours of the day, and in a lot of "friendly/safe" situations. Even if I hadn't responded, it would have probably still gone this far due to you being fucking ridiculous and over-analyzing the situation at hand.

this is true because married women are likely to keep things easy and discreet and don't want to be seen in public with you or out and about.

well, I trust my girlfriend that she wouldn't cheat on me at all, but I still wouldn't like her accepting drinks (coffee, etc.) from some flirty guy. That's just me though. It definitely leaves an impression on the buyer.

no it's not. it's all about trust. If your spouse is trustworthy, it doesn't matter where or when these things occur. My wife was on a trip with her girls to vegas last year, and she and her whole group ended up riding around in a limo with Richard Jefferson who paid for a lot of drinks, and took them to a strip club, paid their cover, etc.

You think i'm going to get butthurt over some fucking coffee? You have some serious jealousy problems if you have a problem with this kind of shit.

I agree with everything BobbyDigital said. And if anyone should have trust issues, it's me.

and I don't

It kind of comes with the territory of dating a hot chick. If you don't want guys to buy your girl drinks or to flirt with her, then date ugly chicks.

im not reading 4 pages

Quote :
"Should I have let him buy my latte? Is that considered "wrong" in the realm of marriage to let another man you've never met and will likely never see again buy your drink if he offers? I mean, he saw the ring, he's not stupid. And it's his money."

no. you did the right thing by declining. it would have been inappropriate to let him buy you the drink.

--how would you feel if your husband offered to buy a woman in line her drink? its his money and she saw his ring, right?

--it would be different if you were with a male friend or coworker that your husband knows about and has met. you're on lunch break and he buys your coffee, you buy his sometimes, its a mutual thing. i don't see that as an issue. a stranger, however, is a different story

Quote :
"I was sort of taken aback, cuz this kinda thing doesn't happen to me that much."

even if it did happen everyday. you're a married woman and you should never feel ok about strange men buying you things while out in public.

ok i read the last page

and

Quote :
"My wife was on a trip with her girls to vegas last year, and she and her whole group ended up riding around in a limo with Richard Jefferson who paid for a lot of drinks, and took them to a strip club, paid their cover, etc."

i see what you're saying but this is a little different because your wife was in a group and not by herself. if she were alone in vegas on business and this happened, what would you think?

if thumper was with a group of girlfriends at starbucks and the dude offered to buy everyones drinks, i would say it would have been ok to accept. the being alone part is where i'm not in agreement
