I love how personally offended someone can get over a comment regarding imaginary lines drawn on a map.

I've lived in Houston, New Jersey, and North Carolina, All for over 5 years. In that time, I've found out that people suck from all over, people do annoying shit from all over, people drive like shit EVERYWHERE, food is good in the United States anywhere you are, and unless you talk exactly like I do YOU have an accent...

And if you ever see me you'll know who I am because I'm the cowboy boot wearing, tobacco chewing, fake tanned shinny shirt gelled haired, cornbread eating, slow driving while still yelling and honking my horn, chugging protein shake with a plate of Carolina BBQ guy who pronounces a lot of words wrong.

^^you can choose to believe what you want, but the fact remains that they do still have accents. people in far western mass don't sound just like those people in boston and have a more nasally less rough way of speaking. those in maine and NH have what is a mix between a country accent and that drawn out boston way of speaking with the cah and harbah talk.


^^i was in paris 5 years ago and my buddy and i saw some girls who were trashy as hell and we jokingly said they looked straight out of jersey. turns out they were.

People in the North drive better in bad weather because, shocking.. they get more chances to do it.

And no they don't drive better, maybe in certain situations, but someone in the North will fucking run your ass off the road and not care, someone in the south will let you in at least. I've gone up and down 95 more then my share and people drive like shit all over.

It is just different.

again, I'm not talking about snow/ice exclusively. I am talking about rain as well, and we get just as much rain in the south as they get in the northeast.

Don't see how anything I said was defensive, it was actually neutral and was the point that people drive like shit everywhere, which I believe they do. That was the point I was making, I thought it was pretty clear and obvious..


I will say that the process of getting a drivers license was much tougher in NJ then here in NC, but in the end pretty much everyone ends up with one regardless even if you fail a few times.

I don't need to believe anything. I lived there for almost 17 years and have family all over New England still (including Maine, New Hampshire, CT and Mass)... Outside of Boston and Worcester they simply don't have the obnoxious accent.

Western Mass is about three worlds removed from Worcester, Boston and the coast...

It may be a DIFFERENT sounding accent than people are used to in the South, but it is NO WHERE NEAR that of Boston/Worcester. No where near.

It was quite obvious THAT was the accent that djeternal was referring to.

I've lived in NYC metro area, Raleigh and San Francisco area... And I agree with you. Though when it rains in California people just start driving in to each other and guard rails. It's crazy...

it was miami where i lived. nobody knows how to drive anything.

I've never been north of tampa but can understand the panhandle being backwards. Tampa orlando and south florida especially are not "the south"...Maybe tampa and a little bit orlando are like raleigh but they aren't like mississippi.

Its not just miami on a pervurbial island though. broward and palm beach cos are similar.

Maybe up north they drive better, but I promise you if you go into Cary when it's snowing and their is ice on the ground all the people that you will see on the side of the road will be people from up north....why? Because they see this little bit of snow and ice and go "this ain't shit" but they are too dumb to realize the reason why we shut down for such a little amount compared to them, we aren't able to deal with the ice and snow like they are up north, so therefore we decide to just stay home and not be dumb and drive out wherever...
