^yeah that's one of those things that interests me too.

Dale mentioned that he'd been on this planet undercover for 20 years. So you'd assume that Ryan has been as well. Ryan's fiance and Dale's wife have had to ask over the years about their parents, siblings, etc etc. I know the Vs are smart enough to program backstories but they just can't all be "only child with dead parents". So it'll be interesting to see if these undercover Vs were abducted at some point in their early adult life, fleshed out and replaced with a V who is then programmed or taught that human's complete backstory before they are sent back down to earth to continue their lives.

yeah, a lot of the stuff i've read has really panned that storyline. It is the worst part of the show though. All the momentum and excitement just stops dead when they switch over to Tyler and his V pining. It's annoying. Either kill him or take his skin and turn him into a V quickly because his brooding wuss character sucks.

i'm pretty sure filming occurred earlier this year, but i think it's unlikely that it's an attack on liberals, europeans (what?), and obama. i'm sure the show was probably in the planning stages before obama was even elected. and the media in general is notoriously liberal. i can't see a network owned by a group that is liberal enough to host gay pride week at one of its theme parks to be very likely to approve a show that serves as an allegory against liberals. i checked the wikipedia article on the original series, and there was a visitor youth group in that as well, so that debunks your youth movement idea. and how are the flu shots even suspicious? people get flu shots every year regardless of who is holding office.

I that they are emphasizing the PR angle. It may be important to the story, but the way the execute it is roll-eyes lame. It's about as interesting as watching a politician who is overly image-conscious.

man you people can't be happy with anything. This show is leaps and bounds better than FlashForward. I really enjoy it a lot and haven't found myself eye-rolling at anything other than the tyler storyline. The priest doesn't bother me either. He'll be a full fledged lizard killer before too long.

After staying out of this thread for a while, I will say things have gotten much better. The first episode was so lame on so many different levels, it is hard to comprehend, but the drama is building at a much more appropriate pace, and its been enjoyable...

Ok...I have not said anything, but have watched every episode. It started off slow and anti-climatic, but over the the very few episodes it picked up pretty good. I am not sure if they are leading to more action or not but the drama has been pretty steady. I enjoy the priest angle, the Tyler angle interest me, however the FBI agent annoys me (everybody has their likes & dislikes) but that does not make me not want to watch the show.

With that said....4 F*CKING MONTHS.....geez

And the platoon cliff hanger was kind of meh

I thought this episode was a pretty dramatic improvement over the first 3, it wasn't perfect by any means but it was intriguing enough that I am going to continue to watch it when it comes back in the spring. Also I read that they changed the showrunner (for lack of a better term) after the first four episodes so hopefully the show will take a turn for the better when it comes back in the spring. The problem is that the similarities you are claiming are tenuous at best and blatantly false at worst. Just because the word "hope" was mentioned in the show DOESN'T mean it's a critique of the Obama administration.
