I don't see how the Mavs get the parts to put them over the top in the West out of that deal.

Cavs and Suns in talks to send Amare to Cleveland

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=4910377

They don't mention it, but I'm sure JJ would have to be part of that deal. They would be better off standing pat at the deadline IMO. Amare can opt out after this season so you would basically be giving JJ or other players up to rent Amare for 30 games plus the playoffs. Ain't worth it.

that deal seems kind of pointless to me, and even worse it prob makes the jamison to cleveland deal less likely

It looks like the deal is pretty much agreed on between Phoenix and Cleveland for Amare. Cleveland sends Big Z and JJ for him to make the salaries even out and then the Suns would waive Big Z.

However, the Suns covet Igoudala the most and they are trying to get a trade worked out for him up until the deadline and then fall back on the Cleveland deal if necessary.

From today's Daily Dime

I'm trying to decide if this is actually conceivable or not. Why the hell would Camby re-sign with the shitty Clippers if he is getting comparable money with, basically, any team not named the Clippers?

Dunleavy might have gotten played here.

The Knicks just traded Jeffries and Hill for McGrady's expiring contract. Big time cap room for the FA market.

Impressive stat just thrown up on TNT.

Lebron is the first player since Pistol Pete in 1974 to have 40 pts, 10 reb and 15 assists in a game.

^^ they have just under enough room for two max contracts... also, the fake D'Antoni on twitter is $$$$$

those people are idiots.

They relate better to the NCAA because there's lots of white people. College ball is so much slower. Damn 35 second shot clock and overcoaching.

thank god the jamison trade went down

I guess the plan for the knicks is to get a bosh/wade combo, that would be sick, I don't really feel any affiliation with them but I guess I want them to get better since it's bad for the sport for the number one market team to be a joke

also watching the rockets should be interesting with kevin martin, do they have the cap room to get a free agent next yr? I've always kind of liked this team after all the battle they gave the lakers

I don't see how you could even remotely enjoy watching the NCSU/Maryland game over that Cavs/Nuggets game.

An example I like to use is watching college players miss uncontested after uncontested shot....wide open, yet they continue to miss them. You don't see that in the NBA. They might miss a couple open shots...but open shots get hit 80% of the time in the NBA. These guys are the best of the best. You have guys like Reddick who owned college basketball yet it takes them 3 or 4 years to even crack an NBA lineup. Julius Hodge is the best player to come to NC State in the past 15-20 years, and he can't even make a roster.

These guys are the best athletes/shooters/players the world has to offer. The shit they can do is just ridiculous. It barely edges out the NFL in my book.

KG really does look like shit in this game.

Shaq's just isn't that shocking. He's older, he's never taken care of himself and so much of his game was based on his athleticism and explosiveness which is exected to fade by 38.

Lebron is obviously the best player in the game with no arguments...

But damn if Kobe isn't putting up one of the all-time "clutch" seasons I've ever seen. Fifth game winner already and it's not even March. I'm almost getting to the point of saying that if there is one guy EVER that I'd take to make a last second play to win/tie a game I'd pick him. But I'm not there yet, so don't worry...

This may be one of the dumbest things posted as of late in sports talk.

You either dont watch enough NBA, or NCAA, or both. The highs for both are very high, and the lows for both are extremely low.

I would personally watch an NCSU game over any matchup in the NBA, but I guess thats because I am white?

That is true, but even though I think Kobe is the best player in the league, I wouldn't say its obvious or that its not even up for debate. That makes it sound like there is one player in the league who is head and shoulders above all the competition and nobody else is even close.

That was part of my point. Quality of the play isn't the only factor in why people may enjoy watching one or the other.

If youre trying to argue that Kobe is anywhere near Lebrons level right now you are either trolling or just a kobe homer. He's slipped a lot and Lebron is in another stratosphere right now. So there is nothing wrong with the implication that Lebron is on another planet than anyone else in the NBA right now because it's true.

By any metric lebron is destroying the league right now.

Its a tough argument to even put kobe in the top five in the league right now.

Perhaps he's just saving himself for the postseason but I really think we are witnessing his true decline he just isn't that efficient anymore and he doesn't do much besides score...

He's still a great go-to option but no one is dumb enough to pretend he's on lebrons level anymore.

Look at any metric you want. Warp, wow, etc find one that has kobe ranked anywhere near the best player in the league I dare you

Well there isn't even a rational argument to be made that Kobe is better than Lebron, Howard, or Paul at this stage of his career.

I mean if we're talking about this season alone (yes I know he's been banged up) there have been numerous players who have been more productive than Kobe... Gasol, G.Wallace, Bosh, Duncan, Nash, Durant, Wade, Rondo for starters...

I don't wanna get anyone too fired up but based on pure statistics there are dozens of lesser regarded players like Horford, Josh Smith, Roy, Lee, Deron, etc who have been as just as effective as Kobe this year during the regular season.

I mean I'm leaving off some guys who are turning in great seasons like Kidd, Love, Camby, Odom, Ginobili, Boozer, Randolph, Noah just because your Kobegos would explode if you came to the realization that he has fallen off that far this year...

Lol to anyone putting kobe on par with lebron calling me not a game watcher.

I did watch the lakers last night and saw kobe get shutdown.

His team is loaded so they are still in the mix for the title but he clearly isn't the same player he used to be.

The problem is you are the typical basketball fan where every discussion begins and ends with ppg.

The Lakers have by far the deepest team in the league, but they don't have anyone who can be the head honcho besides Kobe. Most of those guys you mentioned...Gerald, David Lee, Horford, etc. wouldn't make that current Lakers team any better because they don't have that Alpha Dog mindset.

Gasol, Odom, Artest, Bynum...all very good players, but you can't ask any of them to lead a championship-caliber team. You need that one guy to lead the pack. Besides Kobe, there are maybe 3 wing guys in the league who could get the same success out of that group of players...LBJ, Wade, and Pierce. Durant, Roy and Melo are right in that next level at this point in their careers.

The point is, while individually, Kobe has definitely peaked and is slowly regressing, as a team leader, he remains one of the guys in the league who can fill that role. It's a lot like Ray Lewis in the fact that he's still respected and treated as one of the best even though a lot of younger guys have surpassed him skills wise.
