Supposedly Horner got his eyes checked out and had the wrong prescription for a long time, something about his original prescription being written down wrong or something. Supposedly he's seeing better and has been shooting better in practice. Degand, while eligible, didn't hold himself up to Lowe's academic standards, which is fine by me. I personally would like to have Sid go all Coach Carter on our players, haha.

Akron will be a tough team for us. They return a lot from a NCAA tournament team. The good thing is we have a week to prepare for the game. If we can make it to the Northwestern game 5-0 then I'll be quite pleased.

I have to say, that new intro SUCKS. Sweet mother of God that sucked, and as was mentioned it is waaaaaaaaaay too long. Is it really necessary for the "wolfpack" to run past every recognizable (I wouldn't call them landmarks) building in Raleigh during the intro? Super lame.

How can we get rid of the whole "Wolfpack In The Houuuuuuuuuse!" thing? Can we start a petition, facebook group? Dear Lord I'm up for anything to get rid of that played out phrase!

Guard play was not weak. Javi had 8 assists and only two turnovers against a team that was applying tons of pressure with its guards. This was the scheme that people would consistently beat us with last year. My major concern is we still don't seem to have any form of a drive and dish game.
One thing I was very impressed with was Smith adjusted to the triple teams pretty nicely by being quick and decisive in the post and not waiting to get trapped.

9,500 isn't bad considering what is expected and it being in the middle of the week. Think about this, 9,500 is more than what BC, Duke, GT, and Miami's arenas can fit, and would be close to capacity in Clemson and VT's arenas. I imagine that if we are undefeated after the New Orleans game, then we would have a pretty nice Tuesday night turnout for the Northwestern game.

Yes, we're in the SEC of college basketball (i guess?), but we're picked to finish last in the conference. We're playing the role of Miss St, Vandy, etc. We won't be for long, but it is what it is this year.

And that win was pathetic? It wasn't pretty, but shit ... we're not going to play pretty all year. But I guess you're right ... we should all be embarrassed. Forget the fact that we played four freshmen, forget the fact Lowe was trying new substition patterns all night, forget the fact that we shot like shit and still won by 16. What happened to everyone just accepting the low"e" (lulz) expectations for this year and enjoying the wins we do get? Aside from GSU, Elon, New Orleans, NCCU, GASO, and UNCG, all the other teams we play should be considered upsets if we win*. This is the type of team that would have beaten us last year and forced our guards into tons of turnovers. Yeah, the new intro was mind numbing...it lasted so long I expected the lights to come up and realize we were in the first TV timeout. The wolves still look dumb, they ran around their elbow to get to their ass, and you would think that if 20 wolves were running through the brickyard, that people wouldnt just be calmly walking around in the background. Then a giant zombie in a state uniform marches through Raleigh, and I wonder where Godzilla is...100th anniversary of NC State basketball, and thats what you come up with? Really?

Otherwise, they made good use of the jumbotron...the stats were up to date all night, rather than taking 3 minutes to update like it used to...some cool multiscreen graphics too.

That being said, Im pissed that apparently the Hurricanes ran Goodberrys out of the building, and instead we have Breyers. Breyers?! Seriously? I buy Breyers at Food Lion...are they going to have Tyson chicken nuggets next? Goodberrys was the best deal in the building ($4 in the building for something thats $2.50 in their store, not even a 100% markup), and it was nice to have some local vendors in the place.
