not too many people out there

also they just showed UNC's schedule

they could easily start out the season 0-5

[Edited on April 10, 2010 at 3:47 PM. Reason : and LSU is gonna hang at least 50 on them....]

great logic, if they win all their games, they'll be in the national championship

i mean, you had to expect a large number of fans to attend.

they have a coach that has drummed up expectations and has the talk (butch), plus they have it televised...

butch reminds me more and more of amato every day

Decent turn-out at the start, but it's already emptied out pretty well.

[ESPN Anouncer]But no doubt, with their TUFF schedule and talent on paper, they should be in serious title contention. Plus with Butch maintaining UNC's rigorous academic standards too, this might be THE most impressive program in the country.[/ESPN Anouncer]

More people than I thought that would show up, but still not a lot of people. These announcers are lollertastic.

Wow, hearing State talked about during a UNC game is pretty much Bizarro World.

Yeah, the announcers are pretty idiotic in how much they are blowing up UNC...the idea of playing the spring game against another team is a good idea though, although only in theory...dont think it would actually work in reality.

I would put a large sum of money on LSU NOT hanging at least 50 on UNC this year

The better bet will be how many points yates scores for the other team. i know it's early and unc's dline is "elite", but what was up with the blocking. every play seemed to be a jailbreak.

quinn and austin are both first round picks, and coples and powell are first day picks at a minimum. i expect there to be a significant dropoff after this coming season defensively

Based on what I saw on TV the game may have started with 20K or so, but thinned out very quickly. Very sparse crowd toward the end of the first half. It was a lot more than their usual 2-3k, but that's what you get when you have a good marketing dept and not the shit we have.

State pulled in 27k last year with not much marketing, no TV and no big promo events. I feel like if we were to get ESPN then a sell out would not be out of the realm of possibility.

I would bet that UNC's defense is going to be better than almost every one of those opponents was.

Austen was quoted the other day as saying all they need the offense to do is a put up "a" touchdown. I remember some other teams recently that had crazy good defense with no offense. I don't see them doing much better than last year unless Yates has learned simple things like to not throw the ball away on 4th and goal.

I see LSU just slaughtering them.

At one point last year I thought the LSU game would be a complete laugh. I don't follow them very much, but I seem to remember that they have an iffy QB situation. So it might not be a slaughter. In fact, knowing how luck is always on UNC's side, they might win it. There were a couple games that last year that I was sure UNC was going to lose (VT, Miami), but they didn't, so you never know.

LOL at the players thinking their defense is so good they can win every game with "a" touchdown. And a big LOL goes out to the announcers for once again bringing up this "if UNC goes undefeated..." nonsense. Not gonna happen. I still don't see why everyone thinks "this is it" for UNC football. If they couldn't get a national championship game appearance or even an ACC title during the Mack Brown years, when UNC was actually winning 10 or 11 games a season, not 8, how on earth is it gonna happen with Butch.

we didn't go to a bowl with the #1 defense in the country because of our inept offense so yeah, they are going to need to score points.

Probably going to get crushed for saying this, but UNC's 2010 defense should be better than our 04 defense. We had the better D line, but they clearly have the better LB's and secondary. Their LB's are what separates the comparison.

LSU if even remotely competent on defense will have no problem with Yates. The problem is UNC's defense forcing turnovers and potentially putting up points or setting up Yates with drives of fewer than 30 yards. They are above average at every single position on defense, and All ACC at likely 4-5 of them (Austin, Sturdivant, Carter, Williams, and maybe Burney).

LSU's coaching staff, if they watch any film of UNC their first priority will be protecting the football. UCONN/Va Tech lost to UNC because of turnovers, BC turned it over twice and gave up 14 early points and never recovered. We've outscored UNC the last two years with a great QB and one statistic in the two games that stands out, turnovers: us=0, them=8.

They've also fed off of early September success the last two seasons with chumps on their OOC schedule, and ESPN has eaten it up. No such cupcakes this season, and they get LSU right off the bat. Of course we'd like to see LSU win by 3 touchdowns, but beating UNC by one point and posting an "L" will do the trick for long term thinking.

god, unc sucks

that was the worst tv i've ever seen

7k fans tops. Their offense blows and they have talent. Just horrible coaching.

I counted probably atleast 100 red shirts in that crowd. So good job packers.

Yates sucks, but Butch is an idiot and will go with him. Yeah Renner will play, but UNC's defense will keep yates in there. lol ie, when he throws a pick, the other team won't capitalize very easily.

unc fans are the worst

they suck at life and therefore suck at being fans

But that's just it, they will rely on forcing turnovers and the defense scoring on those turnovers. Remember the Gator bowl year? Everyone thought Notre Dame was hot shit? That was team with great D, but no offense. We didn't turn the ball over, and we won in a landslide as I had said.

i liked the years when ncstate was having shootouts with texas tech and we were constantly getting tons of points.

not sure which of you went to our duke game this year. but the first half was pretty damn fun. (dont get me wrong we blew ass the 2nd half and i wanted to commit suicide just like the rest of you)

why can't we just get a strong offense (like the last 2 years) with a solid defense. that would be priceless.

why the fuck am i posting in this unc abortion of a thread????????????

^^I wouldn't mind it if we kept our current offense and just upped our defense a couple of notches to the "below average" setting.
